Title: Too much stuff! Post by: Mr_PeaCH on December 21, 2008, 07:09:14 AM Peachburt dinged 20 and when not happily questing and leveling is happily chopping wood, mining ore and making beaucoup coin on the auction house.
But I have been keeping track of many other drops and found items and I do not find many that reliably resell at the auction house or perhaps I am going about it all wrong. Help a n00b plz. OK, so you have your basic trash; stuff you loot from a corpse that is in white; esp things that stack like ripped gloves but occassionally 3rd rate weapons or armor. Straight to a vendor if you even bother picking them up in the first place Then you have things of obvious valiue seemingly. Usually colored in yellow/gold or even purple writing. Might be a recipe that you can't use, might be a claw or eyeball or intestine that it says is useful in crafting. Might be a tater or raspberry. Might be an unknown relic of the 3rd age or whathaveyou. My point is, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to these latter sort of things. I can usually find a buyer for collected relics but I can never find a buyer for my intestines. (I mean, really, intestines?) What is some useful criteria for judging whether something has any resell value beyond dumping it at a vendor? Title: Re: Too much stuff! Post by: Cheddar on December 21, 2008, 07:58:08 AM Intestines are for cooking - completely worthless until higher levels. The crafting items you want to keep (purple or green color, highlighting them will tell you if its for crafting) and possible pimp are claws and tails. They are used for most of the "useful" crafting items.
Recipes are next to worthless. Those strange relics are for scholars - save them up then sell them as a stack to get some spare cash. I do not save anything - I send all hides to Marween along with spare crafting stuff. Since he is kind enough to provide free armor I figure I am ahead of the curve moneywise. The REAL cash is either in mid level gear (15-25) or high end consumables. Title: Re: Too much stuff! Post by: Tarami on December 21, 2008, 08:18:25 AM There's method to the madness, to some extent. Typically, when you find purple "trash" that says it has a use in crafting, it usually belongs to a certain profession based on what type of junk it is. I don't remember all I think, but roughly:
Eyes, plants, salts - Scholars Tails, ears - Tailors Most claws - Armourers, Woodworkers, Weaponsmiths Heartwood - Woodworkers Treasures, a few claws - Jewellers Various organs, berries - Cooks As Cheddar said, organs are hopeless to sell. You can probably sell treasures and tails, because those go to jewellery and cloaks, both in high demand also at lower levels. Maybe you can sell heartwood too, because it's a bitch to get (huorns only). Plants are used for dyes and if you don't want them for yourself, you can vendor them. The rest you can pretty safely vendor. Claws are so easy to get that not many will pay any worthwhile prices for them. Title: Re: Too much stuff! Post by: Cheddar on December 21, 2008, 09:13:43 AM Also - do not poo poo 10S profit. It adds up quickly. Personally, I make 2-10g per day or so and do not bother with flipping crafting items I find anymore; its a waste of time. But when I was a young hobbit those little sales added up extremely quickly!
Barrows is a great farming, FYI. Barrows treasures, random items, etc all sell very well. Title: Re: Too much stuff! I've been messin' with selling low level crit weapons and love to buy stacks of 10 dusky or flawed claws at 10s to 20s per claw. While a couple hundred silver isn't huge, for a sub 30 it could seem like reasonable money/time payoff. Especially if your just in the slaughter as you go mode anyways. Title: Re: Too much stuff! Post by: Mr_PeaCH on December 21, 2008, 07:10:56 PM OK, that's what I was hoping to hear; that I'm not missing out on anything really valuable. I'll continue to save and stack things and take them round to the AH from time to time and see if anyone bites. The other night I just happened to hear someone in Bree ask if anyone would sell them a few intestines and I unloaded a shitton for about 20S and was happy to be rid of those bastards. But I'll remember about the claws and tails (as well as the scholar relics which do get snapped right up on AH).

Post by: Yegolev on December 30, 2008, 01:20:03 PM I figure if I get more than vendor price, I'm good. However, in practice I just sell everything to a vendor that I don't need. Recipes and crafting crap go to the proper alt. When I do bother to list something on the AH, I check current prices before listing and set as appropriate; I really miss out on EVE's market system at times like this. I listed ten strong ash javelins and ten strong ash bows just yesterday, and I'll be happy if half sell.
