Title: Do you have a large living room and 42 million dollars? Post by: Murgos on December 18, 2008, 07:26:04 AM "Only indoor, climate-controlled displays will be considered." (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081218/ap_on_sc/space_shuttle)

Post by: Morat20 on December 18, 2008, 04:03:30 PM I suspect one will end up at Kennedy -- their Saturn V museum is spectacular (if you visit KSC and don't visit the Saturn V museum, you are a horrible person), and I'd love to see a Shuttle one like that.
The other MIGHT end up at Johnson, but JSC just now got around to putting up a climate controlled area for it's Saturn V -- and it's nowhere as nice as Kennedy's. Post by: Righ on January 16, 2009, 09:05:17 AM I don't know about the shuttles, but an RS-24 SSME for under a million sounds like a hell of bargain that has more uses than static display. Think of the LSR car you could build.

The other (Endeavour, the one with the funny Brit spelling, named after Cook's ship) might end up at the British Science Museum, since its fairly well known that they already expressed interest. Think of the LSR car you could build. I imagine that the SSMEs will be lacking a few key parts when they're delivered. There are portions of those engines that are proprietary technology and considered very sensitive. Delivering working models to, say, China would annoy several of the larger defense contractors. |
