Title: Loot. Post by: schild on December 02, 2008, 02:15:47 PM I need it. Help me find some.
Games I've played that didn't satisfy the requirements: Sacred 2 Fallout 3 (only because I got all the loot :awesome_for_real:) Shining Force Exa Games I've thought about playing but cringe at the difficulty or unevenness: Baroque Devil Summoner Soul Nomad Chaos Wars Games I don't want to play again: Fate Fate 1.5 (that expansion thing) Diablo 1 Diablo 2 Titan Quest HALP Title: Re: Loot. Post by: tolakram on December 02, 2008, 02:19:38 PM Divine Divinity was ... interesting.
Title: Re: Loot. Post by: schild on December 02, 2008, 02:20:12 PM Oh, right, that other requirement. If it's not on Gog, I don't want to fanagle it to run on my vista 64 box.
Console games are fine. Title: Re: Loot. Post by: Ard on December 02, 2008, 02:25:50 PM Games I've thought about playing but cringe at the difficulty or unevenness: Soul Nomad There's effectively no loot in that game. Go look elsewhere. Gig wouldn't agree with you. Gig doesn't agree with anyone. He'd just crush you under his boot heel and move along, while insulting your best friend. But compared to other Nippon Ichi games, there's no loot. And the "loot" in this game isn't necessary to beat it. Title: Re: Loot. Post by: Morfiend on December 02, 2008, 02:35:51 PM Here you go. For one specific piece of the pie, that piece being from the phat lewts pie, AC had one of the better random loot tables. Now, that's not really saying much... Title: Re: Loot. Post by: Falconeer on December 03, 2008, 12:59:46 AM Both Hellgate: London and Auto Assault were more than fine loot-wise.
Too bad it wasn't nearly enough. Anyway, this thread definitely interests me. Me wants loot done well too. Spill out! Besides: is Borderland supposed to be the Oktoberfest of loot? Didn't know. Title: Re: Loot. Post by: Ragnoros on December 03, 2008, 01:03:37 AM Preemptive strike! Borderlands will henceforth be known as "Borderlands: London" until proven otherwise. :oh_i_see:

I saw a couple of threads saying it is a pain in the ass to get to work on it, but I'm got the itch to load it up on the new machine. Just put your key in at Blizzard.com and download their version - works in vista. Title: Re: Loot. Post by: Sky on December 03, 2008, 09:10:58 AM Two Worlds was looty. The loot can be combined to stack benefits, enhanced with gems and armor has set benefits. Gems almost make the ring sound. :why_so_serious:

Title: Re: Loot. Post by: Pig Destroyer on December 03, 2008, 12:27:19 PM Hinterland?
Their slogan is Loot, Level, and Build, so yeah. Title: Re: Loot. Post by: schild on December 03, 2008, 12:29:11 PM Should've listed that, yea I play it on and off whenever I get a hankering specifically for Hinterland. Been playing since early beta in fact >_>
Title: Re: Loot. Post by: Slyfeind on December 03, 2008, 12:42:31 PM Hinterland loot seems pretty tame, though it is there. "Ring of Power," "Pitchfork of Speed," etc. I need to play it more because I've just scratched the surface. And AC did indeed have one of the more interesting loot tables. Shoes of Swordsmanship and Cotton Trousers of Alchemy WTF? I'm surprised we don't see more of this in the MMO space.

Title: Re: Loot. Post by: Yegolev on December 03, 2008, 01:07:23 PM If that's what you meant. It was. :awesome_for_real: Anyway, I can't think of anything else looty unless you consider LBP. That's really a collect-em-all but since you listed Baroque in there I got the idea you were being more freeform... or desperate. Title: Re: Loot. Post by: Moaner on December 03, 2008, 02:43:11 PM Baroque has a genuinely bizarre storyline and some funny characters but I doubt the loot will satisfy your craving.
Have you played Shiren the Wanderer or Etrian Odyssey 2? Both of them have shit-tons of fun loot and are great games to boot. I'm still playing Shiren at least a couple times a week and it was released in March. Also, Disgaea 3 has awesome loot and the post-game goes on forever. Title: Re: Loot. Post by: schild on December 03, 2008, 02:49:11 PM Quote Have you played Shiren the Wanderer or Etrian Odyssey 2? Played them to death. Even struggled through Shiren in Japanese :| Disgaea 3 is love and hate with me. There's absolutely no 4th wall there. Don't get me wrong, I fucking love the game, it's goddamn fantastic, but I play it in heavy spurts - you know, like 20 hours in 2 days and then put it down for a week. Masterpiece, yes. Can I eat it every day? No. It didn't ring with me the same way Disgaea 2 did. I need them to revisit the Makai world. Title: Re: Loot. Post by: Aez on December 03, 2008, 04:13:28 PM You can try this http://www.warstorm.com/ (http://www.warstorm.com/) if collecting cards is good enough for your loot craving. Keep us informed if you try it. Just from reading the website, the execution looks decent but the game looks shallow.
Title: Re: Loot. Post by: Yegolev on December 04, 2008, 09:10:30 AM Yesterday I went to the AutoZone instance and traded in some tokens to the Erudite at the counter for two [Rain-X Wipers], then I socketed them into my [Altima] but it has not rained yet. I looked at some [Bosch Icon Wipers] but they weren't worth the upgrade cost.

Title: Re: Loot. Post by: cosapi on December 04, 2008, 01:44:38 PM I was making a list of games with descriptions and examples from them, but then I realized most of my suggestions were really horrible.
The best thing from the list was probably Shining Soul 2. Game seemed like a diablo clone for GBA, but with zelda-like combat, I think it has multiplayer with the link cable. You get to customize stats and you get skills too I think, not sure if you can customize them. I only played it a little and you do get loots like new item drops and stuff from monsters and there are bosses. I'll still post the list if you want. But don't say I didn't warn you about the list being horrible. Title: Re: Loot. Post by: Inactiviste on December 06, 2008, 10:00:17 AM Quote Devil Summoner Is actually a very charming game. The combat is pretty repetitive (select demon according to enemy's weakness, mash square), but it's always a pleasure to collect every single demon (they qualify as loot, don't they), and the plot is a good kind of wacky. I really dig the jazzy Tokyo atmosphere. Not the best game from Atlus, but worth trying at least. How about some FFTA 2 ? It's not that different from the first one, with a better interface, and a whole lot of fat loot. It's pretty addictive, as you're always so close to an upgrade, it can be hard to stop. Nothing groundbreaking, but a rather solid game. TWEWY might be to your taste. I don't like the silly plot, but there are plenty of opportunities to grind for rare drops, and I can't stop myself buying all the clothes available. Which is kind of a problem, since as a result I seem unable to advance the plot. /back to lurking Title: Re: Loot. Post by: Yegolev on December 06, 2008, 03:52:39 PM If it is about grinding for rares, just play Order of Eclessia.

For loot whoring, it is hard to top Diablo, though.
Title: Re: Loot. Post by: Yegolev on December 08, 2008, 06:49:28 AM I didn't care for the party in DSII, plus there was a lot of blah-blah. It had loot but no soul, or something. I actually finished Dungeon Siege and maybe even the expansion. I also started to make my own map.

And this game feels more like Zombies Ate my Neighbors than smash TV. Title: Re: Loot. Post by: Murgos on December 19, 2008, 02:34:02 PM Smash TV. edit: The loot drops are Diabloesque though. Title: Re: Loot. Post by: Ard on December 19, 2008, 04:13:24 PM And here I was going to say it looked like a less shitty version of Space Siege, and still a bad idea.
edit: suppose I should quantify my opinion with a reason. Anything modern age or better with no magic pretty much means loot (weapons/armor) is a really dumb idea. This is pretty much the only thing Space Siege got right. I mean, seriously, if you're in a modern era, and scavenging guns off of people/aliens in a non-GTA setting, something is really screwed up. Also buying ammo, if you're in an army with the last dregs of humanity ( :angryfist: Tabula Rasa). These things may not be present in the game shown above though, I wasn't paying enough attention when I first watched it. Title: Re: Loot.
