Title: Half-Life Remake Post by: ahoythematey on December 01, 2008, 03:32:02 PM The Uncharted 2 thread made me realize we need another sweet ass trailer up in this.
Here you go. (http://www.blackmesasource.com/) Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: K9 on December 01, 2008, 04:04:22 PM That reminded me of how awesome Half-Life was; I never played HL:Source though.
I wonder if they'll include opposing force and blueshift in their makeover. Either way it looks damn cool. Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: KallDrexx on December 01, 2008, 07:45:03 PM Ok,
That was much more fucking bad ass then I expected from a fan mod. Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: Azazel on December 02, 2008, 01:40:51 AM I have to say, I'm qute impressed and would be interested in playing that.
Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: fuser on December 02, 2008, 07:11:55 AM Decent, about time someone revisited the game. Release is 09 but long as they release a few weeks before ep3 it would be an epic series to play in one shot.
Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: Malakili on December 02, 2008, 07:29:00 AM I've been following this for a long time. It seems like they've been working on it since HL2 was released. Its looked absolutely fantastic from the beginning, and its only gotten better over time. After it is released I may have to set aside a weekend and play Black Mesa: Source through HL2: Episode 3 :-D
Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: HaemishM on December 02, 2008, 09:45:38 AM Yeah, Black Mesa looks like the shit. I never did finish HL1 (got stopped right before going to the alien planet) so this would be a great way to do that, especially since it's free.

Sounds to me like you finished it. Xen wasn't great. Although the ending scene was good so I hope you used cheats to see that. This might be the thread to mention that the guys doing the PC mod of Decay, the co-op game from the PS2 version of the game, finished recently. Site here (http://decay.half-lifecreations.com/). EDIT: and yes, that trailer = le awesome. Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: Malakili on September 02, 2012, 02:43:39 PM Fuck it, I'm necroing this thread. This is coming out in less than2 weeks finally - but sadly it isn't the whole remake, just through Lamda Complex. Its been in developement since.... shit I don't even know, maybe since the months after Half Life 2 came out.

And "just" through the Lambda Complex is still about 85% of the game; everything after is just Xen, which few people like and I imagine nobody minds being excised.
Apparently Xen is going to get a complete overhaul and remake though. Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: Malakili on September 02, 2012, 03:55:33 PM Eight years of development. Apparently Xen is going to get a complete overhaul and remake though. Yeah, maybe the word "just" wasn't necessary, but after 8 years, hey whatever. Still though, I am looking forward to this either way. Half Life 1 with modern tech is something to be excited about in my book. Did it upgrade the original HL at all?
Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: Samwise on September 04, 2012, 02:21:07 PM A bit (higher def models and stuff), but they didn't overhaul the whole game to take full advantage of the new engine, which I think is the idea behind Black Mesa. The little clips I've seen definitely look better than HL Source.
Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: Fabricated on September 05, 2012, 11:09:31 AM HL source doesn't even have higher res resources I don't think. It's literally HL1 pasted into the source engine, so it has prettier water, some physics, and good texture filtering. They DID change how the guns feel a bit; like the shotgun kicks a bit harder, the MP5 is positively squirrely, etc.
Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: Samwise on September 05, 2012, 02:22:33 PM You're right; I could have sworn they used the hi def model pack for it, but apparently not (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrL9evJpgzg).
Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: Dark_MadMax on September 15, 2012, 07:10:48 AM I downloaded and it is absolutely awesome. The textures and models and voice overs. They also added many new details and some new gameplay elements. After so many years it feels like a new game. And a game worth playing
Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: Malakili on September 15, 2012, 07:35:56 AM Yeah, I played a bit last night. It is definitely worth the download. They really need to get this shit on Steam though, torrenting a mod is a little outdated.
Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: koro on September 15, 2012, 09:28:13 AM It's on Steam Greenlight right now, which is pretty much the only way it'll be able to be downloaded through Steam itself.
Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: Amaron on September 15, 2012, 03:10:56 PM It already got greenlit. I expect it will be on Steam shortly.
Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: Fabricated on September 15, 2012, 09:47:21 PM This was basically the Duke Nukem Forever of mods. Been playing it; it's a really good re-creation of HL1 with a lot of annoying shit cut out and a lot of annoying shit left in + hilarious physics bugs that make scientists and barneys explode into pieces if they step on clutter. They definitely cranked up the difficulty however because the army grunts are LETHALLY accurate now and do retarded amounts of damage. The ammo caps on the guns are ridiculous too so running out of ammo for spammy weapons like the MP5/Pistol tends to happen a lot.
Also the worst jumping puzzles in the game have been left in for the most part. Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: Dark_MadMax on September 16, 2012, 01:06:11 AM This was basically the Duke Nukem Forever of mods. umm DNF was POS, while this is actually a great game. Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: jakonovski on September 16, 2012, 12:49:51 PM I gotta say, the gunplay feels pretty spot on from what I remember of the original HL.
Crouch jumping is of the devil however, and it is alarming how fast my muscle memory came back. I was referring to DNF in the way that it took like a decade to come out. Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: koro on September 17, 2012, 07:20:52 AM Yeah, my only real complaint with Black Mesa is how obscene the grunts are now. The accuracy I don't mind much, but the damage they do is ridiculous. It's been so hard to avoid save scumming every time I hear radio chatter.
Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: jakonovski on September 20, 2012, 12:33:39 PM The helicopter fight is retarded, totally lost the will to play.
Title: Re: Half-Life Remake Post by: Gets on September 21, 2012, 01:31:56 PM Had no problems on normal difficulty. Really enjoyed Black Mesa since it's been forever when I played Half Life/OpFor/Blue Shift.
