I just want to give a shout out to Bella Morte, who has their poster featured in the club in VtM:B. Gopal Metro is a great guy and deserves this kind of publicity. They were on the original VtM soundtrack and it's great to see them in here. I went to their first shows at the Tokyo Rose in Charlottesville, VA and proceeded to see them the next 5 years from HS to college. Anyone else have any cool stuff like that pop up in here? I've seen a lot of fliers and posters EVERYWHERE.

Heh.  I went to UVA myself, watched the Dave Matthews Band before they hit it big and try to get up to several football games a year.  It's a small world after all.  White Spot at 2am.

The closest I got, despite being entrenched in goth culture was a black shirt and blue jeans. The black shirt was from banana republic. I still dig duct tape electricians tape pasties and Black Tape for a Blue Girl. Go figure.

Actually, I rather like the Cure, Joy Division, Bauhaus and hell, even the Sisters of Mercy.  I just never felt the need to play dress up and write bad poetry, which is the primary source of most of my goth hate; the idiotic, jackass pretentiousness.

They dress normally during the day, etc. The problem is that you see the ones who dress like that during the day, don't realize that they're 15 and that you're shopping in a mall when you see them.

Marilyn Manson != Goth. Kids who dress up during the day != goth. They equal stupid and are far outside of the subculture.

So mild-mannered by day, but they take on another personality with a different costume by night? Hmmmm.

Subculture my ass.  Furry is a "subculture" too, and not very far down the scale from this sad bullshit.

The subculture is very much a nightbased thing. You'll never see a midday festival of synthpop and goth bands in some park. I'm just saying, the majority of kids you see during the day decked out are only doing that because their parents won't let them out at night.

On another note, what the fuck do you listen to that you're assaulting a social cliche? Rap? Country? Classic Rock? The beatles, but limit yourself to obscure B-Sides?

Goth chicks can be very hot, especially redheads.  I knew some goth types in grad school, dated one for a while.  Seemed like a fun bunch, definitely not a bunch of sad high school rejects.  They just liked to get dressed up and dance.

Rock, classical, bluegrass, country, reggae, blues, and yep, I'll even listen to some goth stuff as I already stated.  The difference is that I don't feel the need to slap pancake makeup on and dress like a fruit.

Face it man, regardless of whether you dress like a goth during the day, at night whatever, you're joining a sad list of people; the klingons, the renfaire folk, the LARPers, and the furries.  All delusional people who feel the need to be something they're not.  Just because they're dressing up like Creepy McAngsty doesn't make them any better than some sad shit who dresses up like a chipmunk.

Oh, the ennui!  The despair and horror that is my suburban existence!  The only thing that will bring me back from the dark depths of tortured sameness is to wear a velvet frock with a ruffled shirt, pancake makeup and eyeliner and go join the other individuals who are all doing the same thing.

OK, one time I went to a party with "vampires."  The hostess chick had filed her teeth into fangs, and everybody said that she somehow engaged in vampiric activity with her boyfriend and some others.  My girlfriend and I thought that was a wee bit out there LOL.  We didn't stay long.

So yeah, there are Goth types who take things a bit far, but I would say your average "dress Goth and go party" is pretty normal.  It's no more weird than people who dress Country with the hat and belt buckle, then go out to dance and pick up chicks down at the local bar.  I've been in some of those places, and it can get pretty raunchy!

Dressing up gothy is just like wearing bagy clothing and your baseball cap sideways. It's all about flashing your colors. Nothing wrong with it really, people have been doing the same thing since clothes were invented by grober the talanted caveman.

It's when things get taken to far that it really becomes messed up. From goths running around sinking their teeth in their lifepartner to gangsta-rappers carrying around guns.

 Heh well, I took a look once I was safe at home.  Good stuff, but not enough genuine redheads for my taste!  That Goth orange dye stuff doesn't do it for me :P  Cool site though, really quite a bizarre concept.  I guess a lot of Goth chicks like to show off their bodies, and there's nothing wrong with that!

I fail to see why dessing up 'gothy' and going to listening to industrial punk is any wierder than dressing up 'county' and going to listen to Garth Brooks.
