Title: Bella Morte Posters in Vampire: Bloodlines Post by: schild on November 17, 2004, 05:26:55 PM I just want to give a shout out to Bella Morte, who has their poster featured in the club in VtM:B. Gopal Metro is a great guy and deserves this kind of publicity. They were on the original VtM soundtrack and it's great to see them in here. I went to their first shows at the Tokyo Rose in Charlottesville, VA and proceeded to see them the next 5 years from HS to college. Anyone else have any cool stuff like that pop up in here? I've seen a lot of fliers and posters EVERYWHERE.
Zee goth culture is strong in this one. There is a direct connection- goth culture and Dave Matthews both suck a great deal of ass. /scurries out of thread ahead of the torch-bearing villagers Title: Bella Morte Posters in Vampire: Bloodlines Post by: schild on November 18, 2004, 10:12:16 AM Quote from: WayAbvPar /scurries out of thread ahead of the torch-bearing villagers Kill the beast! Hey, I don't need to go tasting every pile of dogshit to figure out just what that dog ate =P Actually, I rather like the Cure, Joy Division, Bauhaus and hell, even the Sisters of Mercy. I just never felt the need to play dress up and write bad poetry, which is the primary source of most of my goth hate; the idiotic, jackass pretentiousness. Fuck, I like pirates too, but you don't see me with an eyepatch and a parrot. I've yet to meet a single pretentious jackass who sits around and writes bad poetry and dresses up during the day. You need to stop hanging out at middle schools (edit) and malls. Hint... You shouldn't be playing dress up at all unless it's fucking Halloween. I know these kids hate their Dad, but can't they smoke weed, have premarital sex, and crash the car like normal people? Jesus. Title: Bella Morte Posters in Vampire: Bloodlines Post by: schild on November 18, 2004, 11:02:44 AM Quote from: Big Gulp Hint... You're calling them pretentious? They have more premarital sex than most of the "normal people" you describe. As far as crashing cars and smoking weed - I know you're going for teh funneh, but uhm. No. Most of these people (they aren't kids, most goth kiddies can't get into the real goth nights because they are 18+) don't live with their dad and have good familial relationships. They dress normally during the day, etc. The problem is that you see the ones who dress like that during the day, don't realize that they're 15 and that you're shopping in a mall when you see them. Marilyn Manson != Goth. Kids who dress up during the day != goth. They equal stupid and are far outside of the subculture. Title: Bella Morte Posters in Vampire: Bloodlines Post by: Paelos on November 18, 2004, 11:09:50 AM So mild-mannered by day, but they take on another personality with a different costume by night? Hmmmm.

So dressing like Morticia Addams or whatever some idiot's version of an eighteenth century French viscount may be during the day=loser. At night, why you're engaged in a subculture! Right... Quote Marilyn Manson != Goth. Kids who dress up during the day != goth. They equal stupid and are far outside of the subculture. Subculture my ass. Furry is a "subculture" too, and not very far down the scale from this sad bullshit. Title: Bella Morte Posters in Vampire: Bloodlines Post by: schild on November 18, 2004, 11:26:09 AM The subculture is very much a nightbased thing. You'll never see a midday festival of synthpop and goth bands in some park. I'm just saying, the majority of kids you see during the day decked out are only doing that because their parents won't let them out at night.
On another note, what the fuck do you listen to that you're assaulting a social cliche? Rap? Country? Classic Rock? The beatles, but limit yourself to obscure B-Sides? The difference is that I don't feel the need to slap pancake makeup on and dress like a fruit. Face it man, regardless of whether you dress like a goth during the day, at night whatever, you're joining a sad list of people; the klingons, the renfaire folk, the LARPers, and the furries. All delusional people who feel the need to be something they're not. Just because they're dressing up like Creepy McAngsty doesn't make them any better than some sad shit who dresses up like a chipmunk. Oh, the ennui! The despair and horror that is my suburban existence! The only thing that will bring me back from the dark depths of tortured sameness is to wear a velvet frock with a ruffled shirt, pancake makeup and eyeliner and go join the other individuals who are all doing the same thing. The hostess chick had filed her teeth into fangs, and everybody said that she somehow engaged in vampiric activity with her boyfriend and some others. My girlfriend and I thought that was a wee bit out there LOL. We didn't stay long. So yeah, there are Goth types who take things a bit far, but I would say your average "dress Goth and go party" is pretty normal. It's no more weird than people who dress Country with the hat and belt buckle, then go out to dance and pick up chicks down at the local bar. I've been in some of those places, and it can get pretty raunchy! Title: Bella Morte Posters in Vampire: Bloodlines Post by: Rodent on November 19, 2004, 05:27:51 AM Dressing up gothy is just like wearing bagy clothing and your baseball cap sideways. It's all about flashing your colors. Nothing wrong with it really, people have been doing the same thing since clothes were invented by grober the talanted caveman.
It's when things get taken to far that it really becomes messed up. From goths running around sinking their teeth in their lifepartner to gangsta-rappers carrying around guns.
