Trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-D3c25_3l8 Official site: http://rocknrolla.warnerbros.com/ Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RocknRolla Comments: Came out this weekend, pretty good Guy Ritchie film. Maybe a part 2 coming? Title: Re: RocknRolla Post by: HaemishM on November 03, 2008, 12:02:17 PM Good Guy Ritchie film like Snatch? Or like Revolver?
Title: Re: RocknRolla Post by: Viin on November 03, 2008, 12:16:20 PM Like Snatch. You thought Revolver was good?
Title: Re: RocknRolla Post by: HaemishM on November 03, 2008, 12:18:12 PM No, that's why I wanted some clarification. Revolver made me want to punch Guy Ritchie in the dick. Then punch Madonna in the dick for good measure.

Although to be fair, I don't see all the hate for revolver, maybe I need to watch it again, it was on the tail end of a 3-4 movie night.
Title: Re: RocknRolla Post by: HaemishM on November 05, 2008, 01:14:16 PM Revolver took a great cast and what could have been an interesting story and wanked all over it. It tried to be some pretentious, overly-complicated exploration of the Id vs. the Ego or some other artsy shit, and failed miserably.
Title: Re: RocknRolla Post by: Viin on November 05, 2008, 01:44:17 PM Well, it *was* Madonna's movie, Ritchie just had his name on it ...
Title: Re: RocknRolla Post by: Hindenburg on January 14, 2009, 05:26:41 PM There's one thing that Ritchie does better than anyone else in the industry right now, and that's monologues.
Fuck's sake, hearing Archie explain stuff is simply relaxing, as is watching the crackhead go on about the qualities of the stolen fur he's selling. The dance scene was :why_so_serious: The only thing this film lacks is Brick Top. Revolver was good until they went overboard with the psycho shit. Could've written a better role for Liotta too. I know the man is desperate, but that doesn't mean that you have to copy his role in Goodfellas while putting him in a leopard thong. Title: Re: RocknRolla Post by: Hoax on February 12, 2009, 02:57:59 PM Fuck forgot to bump this when I saw it.
Loved it. Loved loved loved. Yes I was a little high on wild turkey and painkillers for fun but it was quite good. It doesn't seem that good at the start, but it by the end it is very fucking fun. Title: Re: RocknRolla Post by: stray on February 12, 2009, 03:04:45 PM leopard thong. lmao Revolver was quite, QUITE horrible actually. I liked some of Richie's movies, but that was basically a series of "WTF's" in cinematic form. I remember watching the much maligned "The Mist" right afterwards, and me and everyone else thoroughly enjoying it. That's how bad Revolver was. Title: Re: RocknRolla Post by: HaemishM on February 12, 2009, 05:54:26 PM What was wrong with the Mist? It sure as fuck was a better movie than Revolver even if it was just Half-Life 2 from outside Black Mesa.
Title: Re: RocknRolla Post by: stray on February 13, 2009, 01:04:37 AM Well, actually, I'm saying that I liked the Mist. I just get the feeling that my perception is skewed, that no one likes it, and that the only reason why I liked it is that I watched Revolver beforehand.
Title: Re: RocknRolla Post by: Hindenburg on February 13, 2009, 01:54:49 AM I'd be willing to bet good money that people don't like the mist due to the headshotting ending. That's silly. That ending was awesome.
Title: Re: RocknRolla Post by: kaid on February 13, 2009, 08:47:27 AM The mist was a pretty good film as schild said its pretty much like halflife for those who were not inside black mesa with worse visability.
Title: Re: RocknRolla Post by: HaemishM on February 13, 2009, 12:06:55 PM That wasn't schild. :awesome_for_real:

Anyway, I don't particularly agree with it. It's an interesting angle on an unfortunately not so fantastic movie. Title: Re: RocknRolla Post by: stray on February 13, 2009, 08:26:58 PM The movie had a certain straight to video feel to it - so I guess that's another reason why I feel guilty about liking it. There's also a hilarious scene where Tom Jane just keeps beating the shit out of some alien's carcass in a maniacal fit. It was hard to take it seriously afterwards.
Title: Re: RocknRolla Post by: Tale on February 14, 2009, 04:38:53 AM Enjoyed RocknRolla. But Lock, Stock is the comparison, not Snatch.
Title: Re: RocknRolla Post by: ahoythematey on February 14, 2009, 01:20:11 PM Eh. Either one will work for comparison, really. RockNRolla was definitely a return to form, and yes, that dance scene was hilarious. Gerard Butler was perfectly cast in his part.
