I may be wrong, but I think Caravan in this case may be the very literal definition of the word.  You know, like if you formed a caravan to drive you and your extended family to Disneyland in separate vehicles - only that you weren't going to Disneyland and instead did this all the time, as a way of life.

Caravan is a trailer although it's usually of the towable variety rather than what you would call a trailer (we call those 'static caravans').

A traveler is simply an itinerant, often they operate travelling funfairs. Mostly they travel in extended groups of a few families. There are many who illegally occupy land, litter it up and then leave without paying for anything. They're also not exactly famous for paying tax scrupulously. Certainly when the Daily Heil Mail uses the word 'Traveller' they are usually trying to evoke an image of benefit-fraudsters running dodgy scam businesses (and the drive surfacing is the classic example of this) living in squalor and running down property values by their very existence.

Not all travellers fall into this stereotype but the way the Mail portrays the family ticks all the boxes.

Speaking of campers, my fiancee is appalled at my latest get-rich scheme. We were watching cops and there was a domestic at a camper park. Not trailer park, these people lived permanently in a park full of little campers. You know how many more campers you can squish into a trailer park? Our local big trash trailer park closed a couple years ago, and all the residents have filtered into the town, shitting up all our old buildings, lots more crime. I've proposed to a few real estate folks to reopen the park as a camper park, then rehab all the old buildings (I'm talking mid-late 1800s beauties) and revitalize downtown and kill off the cheaply-built suburb areas. Also, the park is outside the town on a bus line, so it kills a ton of foot traffic and the more commonplace crimes...or at least keeps them concentrated in the slum.

IU am never going to check, and it may have been edited out of that version, but if that is the Lea Walker video I suspect it is (I think she only made one) then part of her genitals, which were the subject of corrective plastic surgery, prolapses partway through and she has to replace it.  I shit you not.  That is up there in the "putting you off sex" category of "things that might happen to you in bed with a new partner".  Her turning out to look like that would also make that list.

We have them in the US as well. They are also called Travellers here as well. Many base themselves out of NC or SC. Rather than eastern european gypsy heritage many claim an Irish heritage. They also scam people with shody house work and repair here as well and marry their women off at 13-14.

Eh, travellers in the UK has become a catchall term for tinkers and gypsies. It's also an acceptable PC term so newspapers like it and frankly anyone not involved in either community probably won't care about the cultural differences between the two. No idea if the family in the article were tinkers or not but from their swarthy skin I'd guess they've got romany blood somewhere. That or fake tan.

Yeah, we had a group come through here after a bad hail storm that tore up most of the houses using modern construction (aluminum/vinyl siding, shingle roofs). They would target seniors living alone and go to their door with a "new" roofing treatment that would fix their roof for 1/4 the price of new shingles, but they would give them an invoice for a standard roofing job for insurance - but they had to pay the discounted price up front. If they agreed, they'd climb onto the roof with a weed sprayer full of kerosene and spray the roof for about half an hour. Then they would come into the house to collect their "payment" and half the time just knock the seniors down and take any cash and jewelry they had. Classy.
