I got a 6.26 overall, which is bleh. I did get a few individual 0.0's though. Gonna try again. Edit: 3.89 Overall the second time. Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: schild on October 23, 2008, 08:07:55 AM Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at woodgears.ca.

That work? Google "The Eyeballing Game". Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Sky on October 23, 2008, 08:43:44 AM Works for me. I got an 8.88 at first, but I mislicked three times (!!) for a couple of 65s and a 30something :oh_i_see:

Decidedly mediocre. Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Mrbloodworth on October 23, 2008, 09:20:00 AM Average error: 8.19 (lower is better)
I have to admit, i got some wrong due to not understanding the mathematical terms used in the questions. Math, or anything related i fail, hard, at. Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: HaemishM on October 23, 2008, 09:43:18 AM 8.13

Math, or anything related i fail, hard, at. I finally got it working and I fuxx0red the triangle ones, now that I've looked it up I'm gonna do it again. Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: apocrypha on October 23, 2008, 09:53:10 AM 4.20
Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: schild on October 23, 2008, 09:59:11 AM 5.20. Still fuxx0red the triangles one. Maybe I'm just not getting it. I had 6 zeroes. Also, another test I wish was timed.
Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: bhodi on October 23, 2008, 10:25:27 AM 3.44. The equidistant inside the triangle was the hardest.
Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Samwise on October 23, 2008, 10:26:18 AM 4.81, and that was without taking more than a few seconds on each one. Much better than that color-matching thing.
Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Draegan on October 23, 2008, 10:34:57 AM 3.44. The equidistant inside the triangle was the hardest. I can never get close with that one either. Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Cyrrex on October 23, 2008, 10:54:39 AM 3.28 on my first attempt...where you supposed to do it for all three columns (I did)?
Edit: dang, just saw all your scores...I must be unusually good at this sort of thing. The only one I had even slight trouble was the parallelogram, and that was like a 6.5 average. Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Lantyssa on October 23, 2008, 10:56:53 AM 5.21
My first few were really off. Then I remembered some of my trig and did better. The parallelogram and midpoint were my downfall. Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Bandit on October 23, 2008, 11:05:11 AM 4.58
Dead on for bisecting angles 0.0, 0.1, 0.7 Brutal on triangle centre: 12.5, 5.0, 4.4 Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: MuffinMan on October 23, 2008, 11:05:28 AM Got a 6.71. Can I blame my monitor for this one too?
Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Sky on October 23, 2008, 11:56:14 AM I've been getting high 4s and low 5s. I tend to get bored with it during the third round and my score tanks.
I never had trig :) Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Miguel on October 23, 2008, 12:18:27 PM 3.22 on the second try. I didn't get what they meant with the 'center of triangle' on the first pass.
Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: stray on October 23, 2008, 01:33:13 PM OK, now I feel like shit. As far as this place goes, I'm not mediocre at all. Just a retard.
I fucked it up at first too... I'm sure that I can at least get under 10 on a second try. :oh_i_see: Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Sky on October 23, 2008, 01:55:18 PM Tried a few more times and can't get out of 3.4-3.6 range. Keep messing up the parallelograms :|
Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Oz on October 23, 2008, 01:57:20 PM 5.64 first time.
Edit: 4.8 2nd time. realized convergence was screwing me after first time. Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Cyrrex on October 24, 2008, 07:28:24 AM Okay, so now I've tried this about four times, all scores between about 3.2 and 3.4
So what is really testing? Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: lamaros on October 24, 2008, 07:54:24 AM Err I misread midpoind of sides as midpoint of angles and got a 60, so my average was ruined. Then I got bored when I found I had to do everything thrice. Why do all these tests make you do things over and over.
Was pleased I got a 0.0 though! Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Lantyssa on October 24, 2008, 09:42:15 AM Okay, so now I've tried this about four times, all scores between about 3.2 and 3.4 Your lemming potential. So what is really testing? Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Bunk on October 24, 2008, 12:21:57 PM 3.96 first time. A nine something on bisecting the angle blew a great score.
Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Brogarn on October 24, 2008, 12:50:46 PM 3.99
Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: lamaros on October 24, 2008, 11:40:07 PM I was bored and did this again, got 2.6.
Tempted to try for the high score now... mmm boredom. Centre circle, bisect and parallelogram are letting me down. Right angle, convergance and midpoint are easy easy. Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: lamaros on October 24, 2008, 11:54:31 PM If you look quick I'm in the top 500. 2.21. Rather annoyed because I was sitting on 1.5 before a couple of 3.6s and a 7. :uhrr:
Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Raph on October 25, 2008, 10:06:25 AM Weird. First column, I got 1.08, with my worst score being a 3.0 and my best a 0. Second column, I start going way the hell off. :( Then I recover a bit towards the end.
Am #10 in the last 500 right now, with a score of 2.87, for the next few minutes I suppose. Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Strazos on October 26, 2008, 12:28:34 AM 8.04
Been up and out all day. Also, Phillies World Series game, so I think I did pretty well. Also, are you guys just eyeballing it, or doing actual measurements and stuff? I've gotten close to 0, but no actual zero. Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Bzalthek on October 26, 2008, 01:28:15 AM 4.7
I'm happy, considering I was layin down and I can't friggin sleep. Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Oban on October 26, 2008, 01:52:14 AM I need to see an optometrist.
Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: lamaros on October 26, 2008, 04:35:47 AM Also, are you guys just eyeballing it, or doing actual measurements and stuff? I've gotten close to 0, but no actual zero. Was eyeballing it. I assume if you cheat you could get very close to zero often. Convergance, right angle, bisect, and midpoint you should be able to get close to 0.0 pretty often if you have good eyesight. The others are tougher because you have to consider several measurements at once. Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Raph on October 26, 2008, 10:35:30 AM I was eyeballing it. No extraneous tools.
Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Strazos on October 26, 2008, 11:06:28 AM My eyesight is fine....20/17 and 20/20.
I guess I was just doing it wrong. Or my monitor sucks? I dunno. Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Raph on October 26, 2008, 05:35:24 PM Be sure you are running your LCD monitor at native res. Otherwise, everything will be distorted anyhow.
Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Strazos on October 26, 2008, 09:21:12 PM LCD?

I hated trig/geometry anyway. EDIT: Got it down to 5.33 on a second try. I think I wing it too much. Title: Re: Eyeballing Game Post by: Cyrrex on October 28, 2008, 06:21:53 AM Quote I think I wing it too much. Um, you're supposed to "wing it" I think. That's the point.
