Title: Contest time: Extreme avatar makeover. Post by: Rasix on November 10, 2004, 11:00:03 AM Schild needs a new avatar. So, for a warmup for contests to come, we will be having a contest to give the emperor some new clothes.
The winning entry gets to grief title one person (except staff) anything they want. Possibly even grief avatar them as well. Post all entries in this thread. You can post as many entries as you want. The winning entry will be chosen by schild (hell, he has to live with it). Rules (YES, there will be order!): 1. No stealing avatars from other forums. You will automatically be disqualified and bad things will happen to you. 2. No blatantly offensive images. Winger, baby mutiliation, pr0n, etc are not permitted. Just don't do it. I'll cut you, foo. 3. Do not be intentionally spiteful or insulting. You will automatically be disqualified and worse things will happen to you. 4. Avatar must conform to forum standards. Quote Its width can be no greater than 80 pixels, the height no greater than 80 pixels, and the file size no more than 488 KB. Have fun. More to come in the future. Edit: Please try to resize your images before you post them. Title: Contest time: Extreme avatar makeover. Post by: geldonyetich on November 10, 2004, 09:39:25 PM I blame the caffine free Diet Dr Pepper and sleep deprivation for my previous failed attempt. However, considering how those are examples of what I considered typical forum-administrator in-jokes, being a goddamn idiot isn't completely factored out either.
So, you're looking for a serious avatar. Alright, I'll apply a bit more effort... granted, for some reason I think grief-titles get thrown around freely enough already. I found some good political satire artwork (http://www.daviesart.com/martin_davies_portfolio_political_satires_gallery.htm). Any of those look good? I should probably replace my avatar while I'm at it. It's an old Adult Swim pic from an event that happened back during he last April Fools which nobody probably remembers. Title: Contest time: Extreme avatar makeover. Post by: schild on November 10, 2004, 09:41:19 PM Less than 5% of the population has grief titles. Less than 2% if you count developers. (http://www.c64gg.com/Images/B/Bards_Tale.is.gif) I know somebody had put together a fully animated gif of the entire sequence, but my google-fu was lacking. All this gaming nestalgia gave me a better idea for my own avatar... Here's some others, pre-shrunk so you could see the details: (http://www.ndh.net/home/ng/Ik_gam.jpg) (http://www.ndh.net/home/ng/usagi.JPG) (http://www.ndh.net/home/ng/ghost.JPG) (http://www.c64gg.com/Images/I/Impossible_Mission_menu_t.gif) (http://www.c64gg.com/Images/I/Impossible_Mission_ingame2_t.gif) (http://markus.brenner.de/ea/jpg/mom.jpg) (http://www.krimskram.de/c64_pics/C64_Games_Pics/m/mail_order_monsters_1.gif) If you think any of those would make a good avatar, I can shrink em' down no problem. Course, the text won't be as legible, but game nestalgia that old is mostly an in joke. For example, most people are going to look at my avatar and say, "WTF is Psi 5 and why should I care?" Title: Contest time: Extreme avatar makeover. Post by: WayAbvPar on November 11, 2004, 09:39:28 AM I loved MOM. But I'm gonna get a cleaner image. I think I have like 10 of them. Anyway, Samwise, send a pm to me or Rasix about the grief title/avatar. Also, you can title yourself. New Contest should be coming soon. Thanks for the entries to those of you that used your brain. Edit: Have increased avatar size across the board to 120x120. Another edit: My frontpage avatar is Dodongo. Bill looks like shit when he's tiny. Title: Contest time: Extreme avatar makeover. Post by: WayAbvPar on November 15, 2004, 10:29:24 AM Excellent choice.
Title: Contest time: Extreme avatar makeover. Post by: Samwise on November 15, 2004, 01:53:01 PM Woohoo! I agree. (PM sent.)
Title: Contest time: Extreme avatar makeover. Post by: schild on November 15, 2004, 03:03:36 PM Samwise chose to grief Bruce. (Surprise?) He made a good choice though. He also chose a grief title for himself.
Thanks to all for wasting time on finding me an avatar. Title: Contest time: Extreme avatar makeover. Post by: SirBruce on November 15, 2004, 03:12:11 PM Infantile.

Schild Title: Contest time: Extreme avatar makeover. Post by: SirBruce on November 15, 2004, 03:26:48 PM You're the one with the avatar who is best known for his movies co-starring a gopher and a groundhog, respectively. Although, he did try to kill them in each, so I suppose that's a wash.
Bruce Title: Contest time: Extreme avatar makeover. Post by: Samwise on November 15, 2004, 03:29:34 PM If it makes you feel any better, Bruce, if I'd had the option of picking TWO grief titles, they'd have gone to DV and Geldon as a matched set.
I only had one, though, and your comment about how much animals enjoy bestiality just wouldn't get out of my head. Despite my best efforts. Title: Contest time: Extreme avatar makeover. Of Course it's fucking Infantile. I thought it was a good choice of grief title and I think you should be proud. Title: Contest time: Extreme avatar makeover. I thought there was some sort of internet law where bourbon-fueled rambling at 2 am in IRC was not to be held against a man. Title: Contest time: Extreme avatar makeover. Post by: stray on November 17, 2004, 09:50:30 AM Well, you are a lawyer. It's understandable. I've never met a lawyer, male or female, especially intoxicated ones, who didn't have a thing for Gregory Peck (Kinda weird too since I kind of look like him).
