Title: LittleBigPlanet beta
Post by: Nonentity on October 02, 2008, 01:27:26 PM
Did anyone else get this?

I got a key from 1UP, and I've been loving the crap out of it. Played for 4-5 hours last night. The tutorials are super, super cool, and are all narrated.

Whenever you pick a new tool you haven't messed with yet, it doesn't let you use it until you've done a tutorial. If you're playing with friends who have never done it, it might be kind of annoying, but I think that in the long run, it's worth it to learn how to use the tools properly.

I learned how to make a wobble bolt last night!

I know this is a game i will be picking up and there aren't classes to chose from so i've actually purposely tried to avoid the beta.  Can't wait till later this month, though!!

My level is shaping up nicely. I figured out how to turn on and off the grid, setup various types of 'string', so to speak, in that there are chains, pistons, elastic, and so on. Plus, the narration for pistons totally makes a penis joke.

Anyways - this beta only really contains the first level's 'set' of items. Anything you make here will still carry over, so I'm working on it.

I've seen some pretty cool levels so far, though.

I've bought a PS3 as Blu-ray player last week. Since I have this thing, I might as well play on it. Is there another way getting into the beta apart from hawking over sites in the hopes of them giving out scraps?

Not really, but the full game comes out on the 21st, so it isn't a long wait.

I want the Kratos costume sooooooo much, but still not enough to preorder from Gamestop.  It is really really frustrating.

so even though i said i was going to avoid teh LBP beta, by brother in law called me last night with a key...how could i say no to temptation that involved so little work?  From the 45 min i spent playing before the server crashed (i guess), i found it pretty enjoyable.  i really hate how they do the movement on the Z axis, but even the head of media molecule said the same thing.  Don't know why they don't just throw it on the right stick.

Got my copy today and checked it out tonight, playing through the first few levels, going through the editor tutorials, etc.  It's really slick.  Looking forward to wasting a bunch of time on this.
