Title: Californication
Post by: schild on September 08, 2008, 07:58:10 PM
I'm sure this will help with Mr. Duchovny's sex rehab.

s02e01 - Slip of the Tongue
s02e02 - The Great Ashby

There is no such thing as sex addiction.

Season 1 was great, not sure how season 2 will turn out.

Hank is back!

Goddamn Police Brutality...

[edit] Oh come the fuck on people! Stop watching that network tv bullshit. There is this, and True Blood.

I like Californication, Dexter, weeds... I think Showtime is the new HBO.  Too bad I can't get it without subscribing to all the movie channels, none of which I watch.  As for True Blood - I think it's a stinker.  I'm not finding too much about the majority of the network shows I've watched the last couple of weeks to rave about, either.  Oh well.  Maybe I'll take up gardening books.

Well, I'm convinced that this show has life in it yet. The rock producer dude is funny...hope he doesn't fuck up hank too much though.

Was there actually story around all the fucking?  Last episode was very nearly all fucking.  Which I hate but put up with because almost all of it is comedy fucking and I love this series.  No, scratch that - ALL the fucking is comedy.

I miss the blogs the main character used to write. That as well as all mentions of his writing, save how it pertains to the theft or the rockstar, seem to be sadly absent.

Well, he's in research mode.

More than likely, he'll derail (once again) and screw the record producer's old flame. And probably not write anything about the guy in the end. Haha

Not enough naked chicks in this weeks ep, good none the less.

"Sorry about your cock." -- made me pause my dvr and ROFL. This show continues to deliver.

Another really good episode. Just as good as the other flashback episode with Hank's dad.

That Rock producer guy.. forget his name.. was a great addition to the show. He could probably carry his own.

So. The last episode was pretty much the best one all season, even though it was a total downer. I thought the show was really bad this season. They made most of the characters in to charicatures of their previous selves.

If last season was an 8 or a 9, then this season was a 5, with flashes of 7. Just not good writing. I hope they manage to get the writers back to their old selves next season.

As I said to a friend of mine "The show really needed Karen". But seriously. Watch an episode from last season, then one from this season, and Hank doesnt even seem like the same character with his dialog and mannerisms.

Finally got around to this.  Man, what a season ending.
The fourth season cannot come fast enough.

Season 3 started to scare me initially.  It was getting to PG in an aw shucks sorta way, much like how Weeds lost all it's seriousness and reality in its own season 3.  Luckily, the last few episodes brought us back and ended with such epicness.  Now comes the real test.  How to follow that kind of cliff-diving season-ender?  Do the writers actually have some kind of plan or did they just end it that way to save the season?

Personally, I don't care if they take 18months to get out the next episode.  Just please god, get it right...

Bump, as I just re-watched the first three seasons and the first episode of the 4th.

1st season: Really good
2nd season: Great
3rd season: Had its moments

I felt that Hank was almost a caricature of himself during most of Season 3 ... like any or all character development in the first two seasons was
thrown aside. Granted, he's never really changed all that much but you'd think he'd be a little more circumspect after all the crap he's put himself through. I guess we wouldn't have much of a show if he did though.

So far Season 4 is ok, we'll see where it goes ... but I agree that ending Season 3 the way they did makes for a tough act to follow.

I've watched it for the last 3 seasons with slowly decreasing enthusiasm.  I don't know if I can bear another season's worth of shots of Mulder's skinny ass.

I enjoyed watching the interaction with Carla Gugino, who is looking pretty damn sexy for being just shy of forty, who is playing the defense attorney.

High hopes for this season...

This season is up to the quality of the first couple of seasons IMO. It's been just great.

I went into this new season wondered how a BSG-style 2 and 1/2 year jump was going to work out. Wondering how they could possibly humiliate Charlie any further. Wondering if there would be any sort of character development at all.

I'm intrigued.

Awful season. Awful finale.  Still worth the half hour time investment.

This season is about half over now.

This show feels like it has jumped the shark in a pretty major way, but I'm still enjoying it. Even if it's only to watch the circus/shenanigans that Hank finds himself in the middle of all the time.

It's the same formula but I'm still enjoying it and am surprised there's only 2 episodes left... how to suddenly add drama for a season finale?!  :awesome_for_real:

Yeah, was not a lot of drama build-up in this season. When there was it was resolved either in the same episode or the following one. Charlie's run at being a gaygent was cut too short, no daughter drama going on, the person who died needed some build up to actually give a fuck about them beyond "hey this guy died and the new people Hank met knew him," the non-ex-wife-person potential part-time love interest is weak. It's like they tried to change the regular formula, which I would have been fine with, but failed because the only change was theme making everything be more mild versions of the same shit from previous seasons.

There were some pretty funny moments, but a pretty forgettable season overall barring pure awesomeness of the last couple of episodes.

Maybe they can retcon the whole season and have Hank actually die from the last season's overdose in the last episode as a final F.U to the audience  :why_so_serious:
