Title: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: schild on September 04, 2008, 12:20:24 PM http://raptr.com/
Kinda neat. Maybe. Neater than XFire at least. Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: schild on September 04, 2008, 12:28:36 PM By the way, this is what MrHat asked about like 2 days ago. He wants this. So it's for him.
Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: schild on September 04, 2008, 12:36:25 PM Client found all my non-steam games that are like real games, automatically downloaded some patches for them, which I canceled because it reminded me to uninstall some shit. This is pretty amazing. I want friends. Someone else take the plunge. I like it more than facebook.

Ghey! Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: schild on September 04, 2008, 12:40:21 PM Scratch that, on rescan found all my Steam Games.
It is, however, missing some stuff like Fate. Edit: Ookii, don't be a dick. It's an interesting web app. Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: K9 on September 04, 2008, 12:43:22 PM I think the comic over-sells it.
Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: schild on September 04, 2008, 12:45:08 PM I think it's just a comic. It seems like a pretty full-featured product and works well at what it does.
When it found patches for Company of Heroes, it tried to download the latest one. Didn't work, canceled the process and then found one that went from 1.7 to current and started downloading that. Zero effort on my part. Pretty rad. Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: schild on September 04, 2008, 12:47:17 PM They need to work on console support, oddly they seem to have all the GBA/PS2/PSP, etc era stuff (the eras prior to this one in other words), but they were missing some PS3 games. Weird. Also, they need to follow niche games more closely.
Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: schild on September 04, 2008, 12:48:35 PM Doesn't seem to have any group or clan support. Dumb dumb dumb.
Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: MrHat on September 04, 2008, 12:52:56 PM On saw this on techcrunch today but didn't have a chance to check it out.
So it automagically updates when you're playing 360? If, for instance, I'm on my PC and a bro is playing Gear of War on 360, I can see that right? Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: schild on September 04, 2008, 12:54:38 PM Seems that way.
Unfortunately it uses more memory than fucking Steam. Closed for now. I'll watch it, but I fear Air might be the culprit. Adobe can't optimize for dick these days. It looks interesting (and pretty useless), but somehow the website is completely unresponsive for me. Like 3 bytes every 3 minutes. Odd. Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: Yegolev on September 04, 2008, 01:28:48 PM It only found 29 games on my PC, and not even all of my Steam games, such as VTM and Civ IV. I'll let it cruise for a while and see what goes on.

Going to try the client out in a bit. Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: Fabricated on September 05, 2008, 12:59:08 AM Whatever happened to that "gamer facebook" that the guy who designed Napster tried to make?
Or uh, every gamer network that isn't Steam or Xfire? Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: Trippy on September 05, 2008, 01:19:26 AM Bought by EA :awesome_for_real: :oh_i_see: :ye_gods:
Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: Ratman_tf on September 05, 2008, 01:51:54 AM Wow! Just like X-Fire I can sign up, tinker with it for about a month, and the forget about it.

Didn't work, canceled the process and then found one that went from 1.7 to current and started downloading that. Zero effort on my part. Pretty rad. Can you tell it NOT to do that? Yes, there's an option to not auto-download patches just like with Xfire. Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: Big Gulp on September 05, 2008, 03:54:11 PM I left it running overnight and it still didn't find any of my games. Going through their forums there's apparently no information on why this could be. And it uses more resources than Steam? Buh-bye.

Post by: Viin on October 03, 2008, 10:19:54 AM Is there an app for facebook that does the same thing as this? Might be more useful to just do that than try and add yourself to *another* social networking site.

Might be more useful to just do that than try and add yourself to *another* social networking site. I have the GamerCard thingy but it works for dick. I'm considering removing the Raptr Facebook app since a lot of my friends give less than a shit about gaming, plus the updates get in the way of my own witty status messages. And it cannot tell when I am playing LotRO, as opposed to just the launcher/updater service running. Besides, there's Steam. Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: FatuousTwat on October 03, 2008, 02:06:30 PM (http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/8940/comicqm3.jpg) Ghey! Google Chrome is a RIPOFF. Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: caladein on October 04, 2008, 08:44:03 PM Twitter integration works just fine, it's also very terse compared to some other XBL-Twitter apps. On the Facebook side, I let the Twitter app handle the status updates. For the Raptr Facebook app proper, the achievement stuff seems to non-functional.
As for the client... meh. I hardly play PC games right now, so I had much of a chance to try it out. Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: DaZog on October 05, 2008, 07:35:31 PM (http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/8940/comicqm3.jpg) The first thing that came to my mind while reading that was 'IT'S TIME TO SLAY THE DRAGON!' Title: Re: Raptr - Facebook for gamers? Or so they say! Post by: Yegolev on October 06, 2008, 06:39:45 AM It wasn't "What four-player Xbox game appeals to women?"
