Title: The Shoe Thread Post by: stray on September 03, 2008, 03:35:34 PM Besides my trusty old boots, I've got a thing for red-"ish" shoes.
I was surprised to find these in a bargain bin today (think they were kinda/sorta a limited run). $40 (http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/2299/adidasskateboardingsuperp8.jpg) Replacing these (put a red shoelace on it, and it'll pick up cute Asian chicks, all on it's own): (http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/1959/dsm000292bigtw6.jpg) Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: schild on September 03, 2008, 03:40:38 PM Oh kick ass, a shoe thread. Not kidding. I will enjoy this once I start making real money again. We should do a denim thread next.
Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: stray on September 03, 2008, 03:45:12 PM Denim: I've decided to only wear Levi's 514's from now on. Slim, but not gay slim. I'm sure there are better pants, but that stuff gets expensive.
Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: schild on September 03, 2008, 03:55:09 PM I have some of the skinniest jeans imaginable. But then, also, some of the baggiest that don't stray into blacktown. Shoeswise it's just rocket dog, flip flops, cole haan, and one pair of ed hardys (that wasn't god ugly) for now.
Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Nebu on September 03, 2008, 04:15:48 PM Last time I posted about footwear, you jerks mocked me. I won't be baited again, damnit. :awesome_for_real:
Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: stray on September 03, 2008, 04:19:48 PM DO IT.
(http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j286/daveshawsky/starsky.jpg) I have some of the skinniest jeans imaginable. But then, also, some of the baggiest that don't stray into blacktown. I used to go crazy ghetto when I skated (still skate actually, but not as much). They were utilitarian, although I resembled a rodeo clown. I have more shoes than I let on. Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: K9 on September 03, 2008, 04:28:19 PM That top pair looks really nice.
I just bought a pair of these: (http://www.hanon-shop.com/images/P/NIFW7BK-01.jpg) I've always wanted some Nikes like this, but never owned a pair. I'm finding them really comfortable, and pretty warm, so they'll probably pay dividends in the colder months. I usually stick to Pumas, since they make incredibly nice, lightweight trainers. I can't do most Skater-type shoes as I feel too clumsy in them. Really anything with a thick sole annoys me. (http://images.andale.com/f2/129/122/21798112/2007/10/15/18277607.jpg) I have this type, and I find them to be perfect for me. Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Evildrider on September 03, 2008, 04:50:30 PM I only wear two sets of shoes. My Doc Marten's or my Chuck Taylor's.

Cutest shoes ever! Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Oban on September 03, 2008, 05:49:02 PM My Lobbs, let me show you them.
(http://www.clisham.com-a.googlepages.com/IMG_0437.JPG) My brown ones are out for cleaning, but here is a picture I stole of them: (http://www.clisham.com-a.googlepages.com/Picture7.png) Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: stu on September 03, 2008, 05:54:22 PM Signe, I bet you wear these to dinner parties:

I just bought a pair of these: (http://www.hanon-shop.com/images/P/NIFW7BK-01.jpg) What's funny is that Nike calls them "Terminators" now (after Kyle Reese). Good shit tho. [edit] Oh shit, I was wrong. They've always been called terminators since 85. Hmm.. That's still after the movie though. I wonder if there's a connection. Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Signe on September 03, 2008, 06:06:26 PM Signe, I bet you wear these to dinner parties: (http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff26/stuabrtow/undergrounddeadlyfp-001bg-ddly_bgw_.jpg) Never! But I love these so much that I would have bought them for my wedding day if I had seen them! (http://www.cobankopegi.com/b/bunnyslippers.jpg) Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: stray on September 03, 2008, 06:23:12 PM The only Chucks I want are these (yeah, they're not very cute):
(http://www.sneakerfreaker.com/images/articles/Converse-Century-Pack-6.jpg) They're charging $200 for them though, so fuck that. Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: photek on September 03, 2008, 06:34:31 PM I love shoes. Yes, I'm a man, but shoes are awesome. Like clothing. Currently wearing these for different purposes :

Don't know if you can make something like that pair, but at least there some options. Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: stray on September 03, 2008, 07:28:38 PM Sounds cool...I'll check it out. :-)
The ones above are badass though. For some reason, they seem like something Holden Caulfield would wear. I need Holden Caulfield shoes. Not sure if that makes me pretentious, geeky, or a would be assassin. Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Evildrider on September 03, 2008, 07:35:42 PM Haha.. Ya, those stupid limited edition shoes can cost way too much.
I remember my cousin paying 500 bucks for Jordan's back in the day. Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: rattran on September 03, 2008, 08:03:44 PM I wear these. Shoes/boots are to keep your feet safe and worm free. Now, a sock thread I could get behind. Good comfy socks are as important as shoes, and can be as stylish.

What's up with everyone wearing sneakers? I hate all the shoes I have now, except my dress shoes which I never wear (but are ultra comfy and look sharp but are $$$). Finding a good pair of nice brown shoes that go with jeans is *hard*. Denim: Just got my first pair of Lucky jeans while in San Fran, I think I've found my brand. Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Signe on September 03, 2008, 09:05:18 PM I don't know why anyone would bother wearing boots like that, even Doc Martens, unless they are constantly taking their feet off-road or kick things for a living. Plus they are passé. Even unfashionable me knows that.
Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: stray on September 03, 2008, 09:28:18 PM I don't always wear sneakers. Like I said, I wear an old pair of boots. Like these..
(http://img175.imageshack.us/img175/4849/redwingsrk1.jpg) One day they'll definitely be "real" shoes, and I'll be cool like Johnny Depp. :-P (http://www.thefashionrow.com/images/247.jpg) Also have some non-steel toe 8 hole Docs (comfortable, but not hard as nails like the ones above). Finding a good pair of nice brown shoes that go with jeans is *hard*. (http://www.zappos.com/images/727/7274415/7769-484468-p.jpg) Timberland Torrance. Seriously though. With pants on, they'll look cool. They're also resistant to the elements, easy to maintain, pull on, casual but not. They also make a lace up that serves the same purpose. (http://TBL.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pTBL-5079951dt.jpg) Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: FatuousTwat on September 03, 2008, 10:28:50 PM I wear shorts all the time, so tall boots look retarded. I only have 3 pairs of shoes. 1 pair brown DC Axels that are beat to shit:
(http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/99701/shoes_is45659.jpg) 1 pair of blue Osiris Heltas (I really love them, but they are like 1/2 size too small, I wear a size 15-16): (http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/99701/1501561577464040_2.jpg) And 1 pair brown Doc Martin low rise type boot (similar to the pic, but mine look more like a boot): (http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/99701/resize.jpeg) The thing that sucks about Doc Martin is that you can't resole them. Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Selby on September 04, 2008, 05:42:09 AM I don't know why anyone would bother wearing boots like that, even Doc Martens, unless they are constantly taking their feet off-road or kick things for a living. You haven't lived until you've dropped 150lb modules or a 175lb auto rear end on your foot with just tennis shoes on. I wear my steel toed boots for work and automotive fun.Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: JWIV on September 04, 2008, 06:03:38 AM I really like my Clarks for work personally. Also, is this where I'm supposed to mention my secret love of DSW?

Who makes these? Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: MrHat on September 04, 2008, 06:14:57 AM Timberland.
Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Nebu on September 04, 2008, 06:16:01 AM Timberland. Damnit, I can't read. Sorry... caffeine hasn't kicked in yet. <Thanks though.> Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: stray on September 04, 2008, 06:22:15 AM Here's the product link (http://www.timberland.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3215056&cp=1779791.1761081.1761136&parentPage=family).
They also make some suede ones (http://www.timberland.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3215058&cp=1779791.1761081.1761136&parentPage=family). Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Nebu on September 04, 2008, 06:28:28 AM I'll add my 2 cents. I hate the way these shoes look, but for a cushioned trainer I haven't found a better shoe for the money. Asics Gel-Nimbus. I picked up two pairs for $150 and already have 300 miles on the first pair. They may steal me away from Brooks and New Balance.

(http://img147.imageshack.us/img147/3051/kswisssp264fx1.jpg) Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: NiX on September 04, 2008, 07:52:05 AM Asics are very ugly, but you should try and find a store that stocks their super high-end shoes. Give them a walk through the store and you'll melt. They're so damn comfortable, of course when you spend ~$250 you'd expect it to do something right.
Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Viin on September 04, 2008, 08:13:13 AM I have some brown Timberlands now, something like this:
(http://tbl.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pTBL-2049391reg.jpg) Except mine are steel toed and waterproof. I think I shoulda steered away from the steel toe for everyday wear, they are a bit stiff and hurt my feet after awhile. I do like the Kings Bay shoes, I'll see if I can find them anywhere. The Clarks look nice too. Guess I'm going to Nordstrom this weekend (can't ever find anything at DSW!). Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: kaid on September 04, 2008, 08:40:40 AM Hehe for shoes about the only thing I care about in shoe look is that my shoes are vagule shoe like in appearance and do not look like big orange marshmellows or that they have pogo sticks attatched to them.
Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: K9 on September 04, 2008, 12:25:49 PM I think I want a pair of boots like these next:
(http://www.shoe-manufacturer.com/shoes_pic/shoes_pic_big/shoes_big_men/men_big_boots/SC1792.JPG) I have no idea where I'd start looking for a pair though (if anyone has any UK suggestions speak up). Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Oban on September 04, 2008, 12:28:43 PM Harrods, pretty sure I saw something like those last week.
Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: K9 on September 04, 2008, 12:32:27 PM Well that's convenient, although I bet it costs an arm and a leg :/
Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Sky on September 04, 2008, 12:58:41 PM Well that's convenient, although I bet it costs an arm and a leg :/ Then you'd only need one!Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Evildrider on September 04, 2008, 01:04:37 PM K9 do searches for Biker Boots.. that's what that style of boot is. You can probably find something similar although they will probably still be a bit pricy.
Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: K9 on September 04, 2008, 01:20:11 PM Well that's convenient, although I bet it costs an arm and a leg :/ Then you'd only need one!:awesome_for_real: @Evilrider, the problem with biker boots is that most are far too heavyweight for my preferences. I'm looking for something more like riding boots, but not so tight. So something between riding boots and biker boots. But thanks for the suggestion, gives me a more refined search term :) Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Signe on September 04, 2008, 02:24:32 PM Why don't you just buy riding boots for people with fat calves? I've seen fat legged people in riding boots. Why you'd want to wear something like that is... well, none of my business is what it is.
PS You're pervy, aren't you, Pony boy? Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: WayAbvPar on September 04, 2008, 02:48:43 PM Just thought I would drop in a pic appropriate for the thread.
(http://www.halloweenasylum.com/ProductImages/fran-25021.jpg) That is all. Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: rattran on September 04, 2008, 07:59:02 PM Just get some comfortable low boots and some big spats. That's what those look like anyway. Cheaperthandirt usually has some in fall.
I'm less concerned with fashion than foot protection, but I do have a nice pair of 26hole zipper side Docs in a metallic ox blood. Pure Fucking Class with my tux. Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Evildrider on September 04, 2008, 08:06:51 PM Nice.. I use Doc's for my dress shoes too. :drill:
Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Azaroth on September 04, 2008, 09:39:15 PM Finding a good pair of nice brown shoes that go with jeans is *hard* I always just went with a pair of suede Lugz boots. I can't figure out what else to do with myself in a pair of jeans. I've been doing that for.. I don't know, six or seven years now. Served me well when I had someone on the ground, though. Hard plastic toe, that I've actually broken before. No idea how. Title: Re: The Shoe Thread Post by: Tale on September 04, 2008, 10:46:59 PM The technologist/futurist Howard Rheingold has always had awesome shoes.
