I have a 40ish hunter and a low 20s rogue and a couple of 15s parked just past noobtown, maybe I'll start playing again.

Send player mail to Hegelwulf (my main) and I'll try to log in soon.

I'm sort of delayed here, trying to get a trial key so I can get started and upgrade it to a paid account, but it seems like they've removed the link for acquiring 14-day keys? Atleast I can't find it anymore. :S If anyone happens to have a (US) trial key spare, I'd love if I could have it.

I still saw it on the front page. Possible it was blocked by some anti-ad software you have installed. Here's a direct link. (http://www.lotro.com/trial/?utm_content=TRY&utm_source=LOTRO_COM&utm_medium=MPU_LOTRO&utm_campaign=TURBINE)

Level 28 Guardian, actually.  Still waiting for my Champ to get moved <fuck you Turbine, 24-48 business hours my ass>.  If anyone moves over please let us know so we can get you into guild; I am extremely pleased with the friendliness thus far!

Oh, and FYI, Brandywine is the SHIT.  Great playerbase, lots of people to group with, etc.

Part of me wants to play and another part remembers how time consuming all of these damn games are.  At least in UO I can macro.  I remember working up GM Weaponsmith and GM Metalsmith.  Hell... I remember how long raids and such took.  Even the lower level easy raids like CD and Uru.  I loved the lower levels, but as you get higher and higher all these damn games get grindier and grindier.

This is a casual guild who tend to play a couple nights a week.  I am more than willing you help you level, along with everyone in the guild helping each other.  I am pretty damn impressed and love these guys!

It crashes my computer, so, uh... I will update you when I get it fixed.  Seems to be related to my audio driver.

Audio driver update, now I'm level 6.  I also learned that I really need to read the manual.  This game is pretty different from the release version.  I miss a few things!  Still fun.

Do we both need to be online at the same time, or other voodoo?  That would be bothersome.

I'm not Cheddar, but I wanted to point out that my attempts at getting an actual US subscription have been twarted by... VISA, I suppose. It won't accept it and CS doesn't seem to know why. :-(

Could you order from gamestop?  And maybe get game cards instead of using VISA?

I'm trying an... alternative route right now, remains to see if it works.

I actually got an answer now from CS; it won't let me buy the key from EU, but I -can- subscribe. So, I need a key and just shipping is $30, plus $20 for the box.

If anyone is willing to do me a favour, I'll pay you to a PayPal account or such (in advance) and you'll PM me the retail key. The game itself is downloadable via the trial. It'd save me quite a few bucks, so, pretty please. :-)

If I could afford to do that I would do that to help you out as I know what its like to want something you can't get that is accessible on a financial level.  Tight on cash right now so I can't :(.

Title: Re: Brandywine - Cheddar cometh
Post by: Cheddar on September 10, 2008, 07:45:45 PM
I could do this; only catch is I would not have time to get the box until Friday, and not sure when I could mail it to you.  Of course the key would be instant.

How do you handle the sub fee?  Would that just be plastic?

I have done this for other European brothers/sisters in the past.   :drill:

Post by: Tarami on September 11, 2008, 01:15:22 AM
Actually, since LotRO has a digital download, I think you only need my Turbine account details and you can purchase it straight off for one of the trials I've had before, essentially upgrading it to a retail account. That would be $20 flat, plus, uh, "administrative costs". ;-) It's not like there's something on that account worth stealing, anyways!

There is a work around. I will send you and invite and you can download the client here  (http://download.lotro.level3.turbine.com/largecontent/lotro/moria/downloader/live/highres/LOTRO-US-MinesofMoria-Downloader-HighRes.exe)

EDIT: i will have to invite you tomorrow, account site is down for scheduled maintenance.

The other thing is, anyone with the expansion has a bunch of buddy keys as well, but that doesn't potentially get you the discounted subscription rate.

so what IS the trick to the reduced subscription rate?

I got a box of original strength LOTRO-SOA mailed to me right around the time that MoM launched; I'm still in my first, free month but expect $15 per after that.

Worked like a charm. Sadly I won't have much time to play today. :)

If I want to level really fast, what would be the class to pick ?

What is the warden class like ? They were not there when I played the last time.  :awesome_for_real:

Title: Re: Brandywine - Cheddar cometh
Post by: Tarami on December 02, 2008, 04:07:58 AM
Level really fast, hunter, obviously. Crazy DPS and travel abilities.

Warden is neat, a combo-based skill system (red, yellow, green in combinations of up to four) that's fairly clever. I like them more than I like rune-keepers atleast. RKs feel a little disjointed and stressful. Wardens got personal travel skills too, so probably pretty good to level in the long haul aswell.

Get an invite by a founder, or pay for three months out. The founder thing may be rare, as that was a while ago and i bet every one has given out the keys already.

I don't know, I figure if you have any MOG experience then you can do 90% of it out the gate.  Then again, since I have sworn off MOG forums (no, really) then I could be missing out on a lot.  Somehow I don't think so.
