Title: CoH/V I13 - Player created missions, day jobs, new powers
Post by: UnSub on August 26, 2008, 07:18:27 PM
Since only the foolish look in the Graveyard...

Preliminary stuff on I13 (which will probably launch in November). In short:

 - Player created missions that appear to be very flexible, although a big question mark hangs over how rewards are going to be assigned for completing them. Positron (lead dev) has indicated that the devs can mark a mission 'Dev's Choice', which will mean it will provide full rewards.

 - Day Jobs: log your character off in certain locations and they will receive some kind of bonus when you log back in. A kind of a rested reward system.

 - New powersets: shields and pain domination (or: evil healing  :drill:)

 - A new reward system that will allow characters to save up merits from completing task forces / trials (longer group missions) and trade them in for specific drops

 - Some more missions, new IO sets, new stuff, Patron Power respec.

 - Booster packs of content - cheap, optional content packs that you buy with $$. The Cyborg pack is meant to include a new power, which I'm sure will lead to an RMT flame war on the forums.

More info. (http://www.cityofheroes.com/game_update13.html)

It's a nice issue. Player created missions are probably the crown jewel, but we'll see how well it works out in practice.

Player created missions saw some interest when they were announced previously on the general thread rather than the graveyard; thought it worthwhile to address the wider audience and say that they'd been formally announced in this issue.

The rest of it is for those who are interested. Day jobs or shields, for instance.
