Title: Need a Recommendation for DVD Burning Software
Post by: Draegan on August 23, 2008, 08:42:16 AM
Can anyone suggest free software to burn dvds?  I really dislike using Nero.

I've been using InfraRecorder (http://infrarecorder.sourceforge.net/) for a while, and it's pretty solid.

If you need to copy DVD movies, I'd combine it with DVD Decrypter to make the ISOs and then burn them with InfraRecorder.

What's wrong with Nero?

I've been using CD Burner XP (http://www.cdburnerxp.se/) for about a year now, and it works pretty well. There's a few annoying bits (it can hang a bit during startup) but it's free and generally pretty solid. Also, similar UI to Nero, so if you're familiar with that, it's pretty simple to pick up.

nowadays you can build a media PC for under $300 and totally avoid DVDs all together. Unless you wanted the DVDs for something other than movies...

I kept getting pop ups warnings about the program, it would pull me out of games or slow down my system, I have no idea why.

Infra doesn't seem to work well.  I had problems creating an image.

I was creating a DVD disk for my father.

Oh you are talking about all the crap it installs for startup, not the Burning ROM program itself -- I always turn all that stuff off.
