Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Samwise on August 03, 2008, 09:42:05 PM Is Aviary anywhere near as awesome as it sounds on the website?
Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Nerf on August 03, 2008, 10:42:44 PM It's pretty fucking awesome sam, I'll trade you an invite if you elaborate on your story in the police thread in politics.
All others, nekkid pictures of (female) signifigant others gets you an invite! 5 left! STEP RIGHT UP Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: schild on August 04, 2008, 01:15:58 AM It's pretty fucking awesome sam, I'll trade you an invite if you elaborate on your story in the police thread in politics. BrightKite is one of them mobile phone location deals but it may have petered out already… Skitch is an awesome app but it Mac only — it a utility screenshot program that allows you to draw on screenshot and one-click export to web and/or save to disk… Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Viin on August 04, 2008, 07:14:33 PM Skitch is an awesome app but it Mac only — it a utility screenshot program that allows you to draw on screenshot and one-click export to web and/or save to disk… Oo, I want to try it. I'll PM my email. Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Nonentity on August 05, 2008, 09:53:49 AM If anyone has any dropbox invites, I would be down for that!
EDIT: Wow, Aviary sounds rad as hell. It's being made by the Worth1000 guys? Heh. Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Viin on August 05, 2008, 10:04:00 AM PM me your email if you want a drop box invite.
Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Nerf on August 05, 2008, 07:29:57 PM Still have 5 aviary invites and now 10 dropbox invites, same rules as before, nekkid photos of (female) signifigant others, ex's work too. Dickgirls don't count.
Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Yegolev on August 06, 2008, 07:06:07 AM Don't you have a bittorrent client?
Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Salamok on August 06, 2008, 11:38:56 AM I wouldn't mind an Aviary invite be kind of sweet to use it at work seeing how I am seated smack dab in the middle of the graphics department.
I was going to post a nice ascii rendition of my wife in the nude but while searching for samples of ascii porn to use as my guide I ran accross this complete conversion of the movie deep throat into the beloved ascii format: I hope you enjoy all 55 minutes! http://www1.zkm.de/~wvdc/ascii/java/ (http://www1.zkm.de/~wvdc/ascii/java/) P.S. - It would probably enhance your viewing pleasure a bit to locate and download a copy of the unconverted deep throat so you can play the sound track while watching the mute ascii version. edit: pm with email addy sent Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: naum on August 06, 2008, 03:39:20 PM Can I get an Aviary invite?
Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Nonentity on August 06, 2008, 07:39:44 PM Yeah, I'd love an Aviary invite if anyone has one.
But beggars can't be choosers! :drill: Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Viin on August 13, 2008, 06:53:25 AM I now have invites to 'Dopplr': http://www.dopplr.com/
This is a pretty cool 'travel plans' sharing site for folks who travel a lot. Shoot me a PM if you want to try it out. Donno how many invites I get .. Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Teleku on August 13, 2008, 08:25:16 AM Would like an Aviary invite if anybody has one.
Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Salamok on August 13, 2008, 11:19:10 AM I have 3 aviary invites left seems like everyone you invite gets to invite 5 others (thanks nerf for inviting me!). If you want one pm me with your email.

Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Nerf on August 14, 2008, 11:13:02 PM My PM inbox is still noticably void of any nekkid pictures, I know someone wants an invite!
(4 aviary, 5 dropbox i think) Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: schild on September 10, 2008, 10:43:15 PM After browsing through the entirety of Tech Crunch 50, the only thing I'm interested in is:
OtherInbox (http://blog.otherinbox.com/) - so if anyone has any invites, that'd be snazzy. PostBox (http://www.postbox-inc.com/) apparently isn't even in beta, yet, which is a shame. I'm tired of organizing my own shit. Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: LanTheWarder on September 11, 2008, 07:50:09 AM Is there any difference between syncplicity and dropbox?
Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: NiX on September 11, 2008, 10:36:39 AM Syncplicity has a lot more features. It also keeps track of deleted and modified files, which DropBox doesn't. If you're a Facebook addict, you're in luck. They actually have it so you can tie your Syncplicity account to your facebook so pictures are uploaded seamlessly without you having to touch facebook.

Dropbox does have revisions and recovery. Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: NiX on September 11, 2008, 12:41:39 PM They should highlight that. Didn't notice that feature until you mentioned it.
After trying Syncplicity I'm going to have to say that Dropbox is better. I installed Syncplicity and after an hour of fiddling it refused to upload anything without a reason. Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: LanTheWarder on September 11, 2008, 02:47:27 PM I'll have to give dropbox a try. I've been using Syncplicity for a couple of months now just keeping small files synchronized between the household computers and my work computer. It seems to work pretty well but it I have noticed it go offline for no reason occasionally.
Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: FatuousTwat on September 12, 2008, 12:46:54 AM I have 10 dropbox invites, send me your email addy if anyone wants one.
Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Trippy on September 12, 2008, 03:07:34 PM Dropbox is in public beta now, no need for a special invite.

Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: schild on September 12, 2008, 10:27:54 PM http://www.filesavr.com/deal.php
File Savr. Like Rapidshit or Megaupload or whatnot. Doing one of those launch free account things. 250GB. Probably will be used by a lot of illicit sites. Just putting it here [because the internet is for porn] Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Trippy on September 12, 2008, 10:43:08 PM That's not like RapidShare or Megaupload. Those services allow unlimited uploads even for "anonymous" users which is why they are used for pirated stuff.
Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Trippy on September 12, 2008, 11:36:08 PM Wow File Manager UI is really sucky. They allow for inline images though and it's free for life (or until Unix dates roll over) if you sign up through the 15th so it's hard to complain.
Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: schild on September 12, 2008, 11:43:26 PM I signed up, never looked at it.
Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Trippy on September 12, 2008, 11:57:52 PM They use a fade in effect to show the details of your file which of course takes fucking forever but more importantly they don't show your files' URLs as text you can copy in that view. You have to copy the Share link's URL which you typically can't do with the keyboard by default unlike a plain text URL so it's much less efficient if you a lot of files you need to setup the links for in another app. You can't create folders to share or as plain organization tools either.

Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: fuser on December 10, 2009, 10:21:07 AM Settings -> Phones. Top option is your google voice number.
It prompted me on account creation a long time ago, fyi the forwards numbers only work in USA. If you want to use the account you have to activate against a USA number and IP. Once its done you can be located anywhere to access the site. Also once your number is set you cannot change it without paying a $10 fee Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: Morfiend on December 10, 2009, 10:23:45 AM Right, I got the number search, but everything I search is returning no results.
Title: Re: Web 2.0 Beta Invites Post by: MuffinMan on December 10, 2009, 10:25:11 AM I got that a couple of months ago, no 512 area code numbers were available so I had to use a different one. It's not that area codes matter a whole lot anymore so I didn't really mind.
