I'm not sure what hit me. It's probably some sort of skin allergy but before I could get skin treatment from a doc it disappeared by itself after 2 days. The day it started to develop I had some Turkish beef food with sourcream (I didn't like it) and some peanut soup dessert. Burger King for dinner. Breakfast was...uh..some fried noodles.

Then I noticed I start feeling itchy all over at night. Especially on the belt area and my joints. When I got home to shower I saw lots of red patches all over me. On my arm, thigh, stomach, chest. I was quite freaked out. I couldn't sleep well that night. I dreamed of zombies biting all over me, I can't help myself from scratching the red patches. Then I woke up in the morning with cold sweat. It's all gone. I didn't think it could have a comic book effect of 'red one day, then gone the next day' but no traces remain. The red patches that has around 1-3 mm in height layers over my skin are gone. So are the itchiness.

So. Wtf happened?

Sounds like an allergic reaction to something you ate.

Dunno what it is but I had that happen to me too a while back. I think it was the raw shellfish I ate. Mine appeared and disappeared quicker though. I have other food allergies that affect my throat and mouth but I figured this was something similar.

I'd tell you to go and see a doctor but judging by the other thread you don't like taking important matters to the people who actually know what to do :drill:.

Sounds like a classic allergic reaction to me, Urticaria (also known as "hives") (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urticaria).  Did it look anything like either of these pictures?

I had it once, a reaction to a new cologne I was trying.  The really fun part comes about a week later, when all that skin sloughs off like you were getting over a sunburn.

I had the same reaction a few weeks ago, after sleeping and showering at a hotel. Figure it was either the sheets or the towels, but it was gone after 2 days of colloidal oatmeal baths and liberal application of an anti-itch cream.

No fun at all. If it recurs, go see a doctor.

I had the same shit a few years back for one night. I was scared to hell as it just grew all over me, I was like "oh fuck I'm dying". I was sitting and sweating and playing games to forget it and when I woke up it was all gone. Found out it was some food I ate at an Thai restaurant, needless to say I never went back.

I had the exact same reaction to some BBQ sauce. Allergic reaction. Went away in about 3 hours after a hot bath. Happened twice. Something in a mustard. Anyway, first time I went to Urgent Care. They pumped me full of steroids. Second time I knew what was happening, hopped in the hot tub, good to go. Mild allergic reaction.

Sounds like a possible peanut (peanut soup dessert) allergy? Very common.  Photek, it might be something to do with peanuts for you as well, as Thai food uses peanuts extensively.

I'm late to the party.  Without a picture it's tough to say, but the most common explanations would be a) stress or b) allergy.

Agreed.  Allergies to peanuts are common as hell.  That's the only thing you listed that really stood out to me.

On the other hand, you could be one of those freaks like me who has sensitive skin and you just broke out in hives.  Did you change anything else, like your laundry detergent, maybe?  I know I had to switch to hypoallergenic detergent or else I get rashes where my shirts rub my skin (back of the armpits and the shoulders).

My wife had something similar. A couple of minutes google'ing came up with a site of a LOT of people having it. But we had a good place to start too. We bought some new flavored water at BJs (big box club type place, a Wal*mart you pay an annual fee for) that had, err, I think it was aspertain (going backa  few years here). Turns out she's allergic, as are a whole lot of other people.

As to seeking advice from professionals before the interwabs: if you've been to an allergist, then it's because you know you're having an allergic reaction to something. And you know what they do? Ask exactly the same questions asked in this thread.

Then they give you some stuff to counteract whatever's happening.

As for allergic reactions, in all seriousness, the first time your body reacts to an item it sets up a rather hazardous condition wherein subsequent reactions to the substance you are allergic to can become more and more severe.  Ask your doctor for a prescription for an EpiPen.  It may save your life.

Go to an allergist. They will jab you with approximately 93 million needles, and if you don't go into shock right there, you'll come back a day later and they'll look at which sites swelled up like ballons, and tell you EVERYTHING you're allergice to.

We did it to my son when he was 6. Damn, he was seriously pissed about that. We didn't let him see the shot board, so the first (and biggest set) on his back came as a complete surprise. Turns out he's allergic to practically every tree that grows in Texas, as well as soy. (The latter was important to know, as the child LOVES soy based products. We altered his diet, give him zyrtec daily, and his life has gotten a lot smoother).

My Aunt had shingles a few years back.  By some bizarre stroke of fate, she also has some form of lupus.  Srsly.  Although the only symptom she seems to have is a weird allergy to sunlight.  She's very pale and thin and I always secretly thought the lupus thing was a story to hide the fact that she's a vampire.  (I almost really believe that!)
