Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: stray on June 22, 2008, 10:03:23 PM I wonder if he was clean in the present. I know he had the balls to check in and get off some addictions not too long ago. Hope he didn't fall off the wagon and die because of it.
ANYWAYS... He's probably the closest thing to Socrates that we'll get. RIP, even if I disagreed with his cynicism, oh, about 90% of the time. [edit] Actually, I take that back. I will not say RIP. Carlin would probably have my ass for it. Instead, I'll just say: Fuck that asshole. I'm glad he's dead! Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: naum on June 22, 2008, 10:07:09 PM RIP

You will be missed. Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: MrHat on June 23, 2008, 03:56:30 AM Well shit.

Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: HAMMER FRENZY on June 23, 2008, 05:26:22 AM Man, first Stan then this. This is a shitty month. :heartbreak:
Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: Sky on June 23, 2008, 06:14:45 AM Shit piss fuck cunt cocksucker motherfucker tits.
I am so glad I finally got to see him this year. Three months ago, and he was still fucking awesome. One of my role models, Georgy, Willie Nelson and Norm Abrams. That's my Holy Trinity. I got class clown waaay too young, stole it from my step-father's collection. In a confusing, conformist world, George gave me the avenue that helped me be me, showed me that there was a different way to look at things. Sucks he is gone, but as shitty as that makes me feel, I'm so glad he was here. It is a better world because of that prick. Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: Engels on June 23, 2008, 06:24:35 AM Well, he died like he wanted to die. According to an NPC sound clip, he wanted folks to say "Hey, he was here a minute ago", and voila, poof, gone like a puff of smoke. Somehow makes it easier to know the dude didn't suffer too much or too long.
I'm glad he got the Mark Twain award (http://www.kennedy-center.org/programs/specialevents/marktwain/), and few people rightly deserve that one. Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: Riggswolfe on June 23, 2008, 06:36:22 AM Yeah, this ranks up there with the loss of Richard Pryor in my book.
Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: WayAbvPar on June 23, 2008, 06:48:32 AM Richard Pryor and George Carlin are gone, while Dane Cook and Carrot Top still draw breath. This has to test the faith of those of you who believe.
This just sucks so much ass. Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: NiX on June 23, 2008, 07:05:19 AM I just watched his most recent stand up on TV. Fucking hell.
Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: Moaner on June 23, 2008, 07:22:35 AM Blah. Another dead hero. This year sucks.
RIP. Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: Grand Design on June 23, 2008, 07:50:30 AM RIP - give Lenny Bruce a shout up there.
Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: bhodikhan on June 23, 2008, 08:23:14 AM He's probably looking up at us from down there and saying - "but it's a dry heat"
Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: Merusk on June 23, 2008, 08:33:13 AM Yeah, heard about this first thing this morning. All I could think was "wel that sucks... but he /was/ 71." Better to go quick than to get cancer, parkinsons, anything else.
He'll be missed, but all I can expect anymore is to see more and more familiar, highly-remembered folks dying off at an accelerating rate. Such is man's fate. Damn that man for making me care. Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: HaemishM on June 23, 2008, 08:35:49 AM /sadf
One more funny motherfucker dead. Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: Nebu on June 23, 2008, 08:35:57 AM This is the part that made me sad:
Quote News of his death was first reported by the television show "Entertainment Tonight." That would have really pissed him off. We're losing so many talented people... you damn kids better start picking up the slack! Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: Evildrider on June 23, 2008, 09:41:07 AM :(
I've seen Carlin like 5-6 times, it was always a great show. He will be missed. Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: stu on June 23, 2008, 10:10:19 AM Thanks George, for saving Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure.
Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: Zetleft on June 23, 2008, 11:30:19 AM Damn this really sucks :(
RIP George. Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: Damn Dirty Ape on June 23, 2008, 12:14:49 PM He's probably looking up at us from down there and saying - "but it's a dry heat" Yep, and the demons are asking him what he thinks about the word "cornhole" now. The man worked shows right up until he pulled a Fred Sanford. I never got to see him live but I collected his albums. I knew he was a kindred soul when he said he had a troubled childhood in which he had not only shit his pants but shit in other people's pants as well. He was a true master of weaving vulgarity and absurdity through a command of the English language rarely rivalled. If I were a religious man, I'd like to think Carlin is now hitchhiking along the Eternal Road, waiting for the Great Red Shark to pick him up for one hell of a trip. Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: NiX on June 23, 2008, 12:16:45 PM We're losing so many talented people... you damn kids better start picking up the slack! Don't hold your breath. My generation made Dane Cook famous.Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: Merusk on June 23, 2008, 01:43:44 PM We're losing so many talented people... you damn kids better start picking up the slack! If I had a hero, he was it. :sad_panda: Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: photek on June 23, 2008, 04:00:26 PM Fuck. This is a sad day. He is and will always be the best, for me. My signature is even a Carlin quote.

Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: Engels on June 24, 2008, 04:36:22 PM Georg Carlin from 1966 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emGe0oF2ZM4) - he was a genius waaay back when too. Argueably even more creative.
Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: photek on June 25, 2008, 11:52:45 AM Georg Carlin from 1966 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emGe0oF2ZM4) - he was a genius waaay back when too. Argueably even more creative. Absolutely brilliant! Title: Re: George Carlin dead Post by: Paelos on June 25, 2008, 10:08:55 PM That was really cool to see him at that age. That radio station thing sounds EXACTLY like every song I've heard on my friends 60s jukebox they have at their house crammed full of the top 40 records at that time.
