Title: G.I. Joe 25th and Beyond
Post by: HAMMER FRENZY on June 04, 2008, 05:39:57 AM
I have not noticed a thread about this, and I have seen that there are some pretty avid toy collectors here. Anyone snatching these up? I had gotten pretty much all of the first year wave for my son, then he lost interest, so I got them all for myself as well and have collected all the singles, comic packs to date. I am pretty impressed by the new figures especially when compared to the old figures. Hasbro is really kicking ass with this line so far.

Any other collectors into this series? Disappointed by the new Viper? Wondering why Major Bludd has no articulation on the robot arm?

I think I am having more fun collecting these figures than I have had in some time.

I don't have any GI Joes but I used to melt my cousin's GI Joe Dolly when I was little.  We used to melt Barbies and other plastic thingys, too.  I'm surprised we lived through all the toxic fumes.  Anyway, this thread looked lonely so I thought I'd pop in ans say hi to HAMMER.

HI HAMMER!

Ha, yeah I assumed that maybe some other members were into this line. They are pretty solid little figures.

Stray: Yeah Zartan is the man.

I only bought the Ace vs Wild Weasel 2 pack and I plan on getting the HISS when it finally goes into wide release.

Sadly the 2 pack didn't have the comic it SHOULD have had in it.  Instead of the kickass Rattler vs Skystriker duel issue its some lame almost pointless one where Ace and Weasel barely even duel.  Instead of a 22 page classic of my childhood.

On the upside, the Wild Weasel figure is pretty rad.

I had a Rancor from Star Wars that was regularly fed the seperated body parts of old Joes. I'd grab him by the legs and shake him until the Joes' body parts fell out. Then I'd give him back Hi-Fi and whomever else there was in that mish-mash. Good times.  :-)

Sorry, I was always into He-Man. In the 80's/early 90's I had most of the figures and even had Castle Greyskull.

Wow... I should see if I can find my old GI Joe action figures.

I won a MOBAT in a draw from the local TV station, got a FLAK for Christmas from Santa, a MMS by raking leaves, an APC the following year and then the capstone of my collection:

I had a sky striker.

Just like all airplane toys though, I tried to make it fly a bit too much.

On a sidenote:

/weep for Jetfire (Transformers) -- now that was a real fucking waste. Damn thing broke to pieces on the first try.

I was all Transformers and Star Wars and Ghostbusters.  I had a few G.I. Joes, but it was never my big thing.

In my youth it was strickly Star Wars figures. I still have my Boba Fett.

Funny thing is, back then you'd always get a relative that wouldn't quite "get it". One year an aunt gave me a figure of a Cylon Centurian. Hell, the guy couldn't even hold a gun, how lame was that!

I found that figure recently in my parent's basement - it now sits with pride on my bookshelf.

Yeah, and BB guns!

On time I remember a friend and I putting one of his GI Joes into a Star Wars snowspeeder or something like it.  Then we blew it up with an M-80, and then poured gasoline on it and burned it.

I think it's safe to say that my favorite toys were actually firecrackers, and... nothing else.  :awesome_for_real:

[edit] Oh, and puppets. Never fucked with any of those.
