Title: Re: FedEX PARCEL DELIVERY NOTICE Post by: Oban on May 15, 2008, 08:09:49 AM HEHEH I look at spam feeds all day for my job. All I can say is I feel sorry for any actual bank president in africa because I don't think anybody will accept their mail any more hehe. Sad but true, quite a few GSM providers use a financial clearing house that has an ex-Nigerian banker acting as a collections/support guy. The first time someone forwarded an email requesting 1.8 million dollars, I couldn't stop laughing. Even now when I think of the guys name, I can't stop laughing. Title: Re: FedEX PARCEL DELIVERY NOTICE Post by: rk47 on May 15, 2008, 09:15:13 PM so what is this scam about anyway? I reread it and they want my £82GBP ? Huh?
Title: Re: FedEX PARCEL DELIVERY NOTICE Post by: IainC on May 16, 2008, 03:11:21 AM so what is this scam about anyway? I reread it and they want my £82GBP ? Huh? The idea is that you'll pay the £82 then one of the following situations will happen:They'll continue to invent new charges that need to be paid to expedite the transfer of your funds. The hope is that you'll keep paying these fees as you feel you're somehow invested in this operation and the huge cheque is almost within your grasp. This is just a gullibility test to see how likely you are to fall for a mark. If you do pay for this then there's a good chance the letter will involve some kind of cheque fraud or phishing fraud. Title: Re: FedEX PARCEL DELIVERY NOTICE Post by: Simond on May 16, 2008, 03:09:46 PM Obligatory "Have you seen the arrow?" post in a FedEx(ish) thread. :oh_i_see:
Title: Re: FedEX PARCEL DELIVERY NOTICE Post by: Lum on May 16, 2008, 09:13:10 PM Why is it always Nigeria? Because running kooky frauds from internet cafes is a sport there (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advance_fee_fraud). No, really. They even have a music video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_YjvC4ndzM). Title: Re: FedEX PARCEL DELIVERY NOTICE Post by: rk47 on May 16, 2008, 09:40:30 PM Heh this is quite subtle at least, more subtle than 'You are related to a recently deceased military officer under Saddam Hussein who own a shit load of gold' scam I got back then from Hong Kong.
Title: Re: FedEX PARCEL DELIVERY NOTICE Post by: photek on May 17, 2008, 03:40:34 AM No, really. They even have a music video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D_YjvC4ndzM). I wish I never saw that. Now everytime someone mentions money scams my brain will automatically sing that song. :ye_gods: It's like when someone says Indiana Jones, you go "tan tan tantaaaan tan tan taaaan!" Granted, that alone doesn't make it unofficial these days. :uhrr: |
