Title: Games for Windows/Computer Gaming World is dead
Post by: Gutboy Barrelhouse on April 11, 2008, 03:04:30 PM
Ziff Davis has ceased publication of Games for Windows magazine but will move the content online through 1UP.com.

Simon Cox, VP of content for 1UP, said that the closure had nothing to do with Ziff Davis recently filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection but reflected the movement of readers away from print and towards online sources.

"It's a natural move for us to refocus our resources and talent to the online space, in order to reach the PC gaming community where it truly lives," said Jason Young, CEO of Ziff Davis Media in a statement.

Prior to being retooled as Games for Windows last year, the magazine was known as Computer Gaming World and had been in publication for 27 years.

I know you can't be on top of the latest trends with a 'zine that has a two month lead time, but I grew up on this magazine and I am sorry to see it go.

Lucy Pinder manages to get FHM and Maxim and all the other shitty lad mags in the black.  Maybe Games for Windows magazine just needed more boobs.
