Title: Shared memory permissions with Oracle
Post by: Yegolev on April 09, 2008, 08:58:03 AM
Oracle is creating a segment with 640 but I need 660.  My DBA is stumped and so am I.  Calling all cars!

This would be so much easier if it was about a Lamborghini!

Sounds like the type of thing a company like Coca-Cola would have a mostly useless multimillion dollar support contract with Oracle for.  For the kind of money you're probably paying you should have Ellison's cell phone number to bitch him out :awesome_for_real:.

What action is causing this issue? Do you have an ORA error?

If it is during startup then it can be because system settings don't allow a big enough shared memory segment, if it's during normal running it could be because the SGA is too small for what is happening.

If you have a problem like this, at least be online so I can send PMs or AIMs! Don't wander off!
