Title: Rock Band in Europe Finally. Yay! Post by: IainC on April 08, 2008, 06:11:38 AM But EA still manage to make it a bitter pill for us to swallow.
News (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=130927). We're used to paying the same numerical amount as you just with a different currency symbol on the end, that's a path well trodden by Apple, MS and a host of other tech providers, but paying over twice as much is a new game for us. we'll be paying the equivalent of $378 for the whole bundle compared to the US price of $170. So: 6 months after the US release. Only one one platform at the moment. More than twice as expensive. No sign of fixes to the hardware issues. Woot. Title: Re: Rock Band in Europe Finally. Yay! Post by: Mosesandstick on April 08, 2008, 07:46:22 AM Makes me seem a genius for bringing back the whole game from the US in a suitcase over Christmas...
Anyways the game shouldn't actually be that expensive, because it says the RRP of the game will be 50 quid, and I can't remember the last time I actually saw a game sold here for the RRP. Its still crazily expensive. The instruments will probably be the newer versions, which means they should be more reliable though probably in some parts still horribly broken (drum pedal being an obvious example). Edit: Mistake on the European songs... Get charged twice the amount for the game and get 9 "free" European songs. Title: Re: Rock Band in Europe Finally. Yay! Post by: WayAbvPar on April 08, 2008, 08:01:13 AM Do you get the albums promised as DLC for the extra dough? That might make it closer to worth it :oh_i_see:

That might make it closer to worth it :oh_i_see: There will be 9 bonus Euro tracks available in the basic package (which will become DLC in the US) and all US DLC will be available from launch as DLC in Europe. So we get $16.47 worth of bonus content for only $208!Bonus songs for the interested are: "Beetlebum" Blur "Countdown to Insanity" H-Block X "Hysteria" Muse "Hier Kommit Alex" Die Toten Hosen "Manu Chao" Les Wampas "Monsoon" Tokio Hotel "New Wave" Playmo "Perfekte Welle" Juli "Rock 'n' Roll Star" Oasis Title: Re: Rock Band in Europe Finally. Title: Re: Rock Band in Europe Finally. Yay! Post by: Mosesandstick on April 08, 2008, 10:31:15 AM I haven't bought any live points here... but wouldn't it cost more than $16.47? More like £11/12?

Some valid points but nothing that would seem to give rise to a 100% increase in price (that 100% increase is of course lower since a retailer would have to be stoned to sell at the RRP). The game disc and peripherals are identical for all European territories, but the manuals have to be localized for each country, so in practice the software package is different for each country. The manuals? The manuals? :roflcopter: |
