Title: A newbie Drake setup? Post by: Akkori on April 06, 2008, 03:39:03 PM Can't use many II's yet, and can't afford them anyway, same with most named things. This is basically a ratting ship against Sansha. After I get some practice I will work on a PVP setup. Would I be able to do L3's with this setup?

Also why the invuln if you're only going to be ratting sansha's? Always struck me as better to use specific hardeners for the mission you're doing than try and omni tank. A: This numbers show amount of DPS your setup can tank assuming that all incoming damage distributed eventually between damage types (you can set your own damage type ratio by right-clicking defence group box). Bottom number shows reinforced tank or amount of DPS you can tank with running your repair modules on autorepeat. It does not take your capacitor recharge rate into account. Upper number is a sustained tank or amount of DPS you can tank forever by repeatly activating your repair modules and allowing capacitor to hold. You can think of sustained tank value as amount of DPS your enemy will need to break your tank. Note, if you're cap-stable, both numbers are the same (since by definition your capacitor never runs out, so you don't have to deactivate your repper/booster). Title: Re: A newbie Drake setup? Always struck me as better to use specific hardeners for the mission you're doing than try and omni tank. Well, it's a 0.0 ratting ship (ie: no salvager boat nearby), so I have to be able to get to the wrecks and salvage them (thus the tractor beam and salvager). Since it's missiles, I wouldn't be near the rats to begin with. Also, since it's 0.0, it doesn't hurt to have a good passive tank .. for the random gank guy. Plus, I'm not sure another Photon/Heat shield would do much better than the Invuln. (Just checked EFT, it says if I do two heat, one em shield I can only passively tank 193 dps, but with one heat shield, one em shield, and a invuln I can tank 206dps against Sansha). You can think of sustained tank value as amount of DPS your enemy will need to break your tank. If you right click the Defense number you can create a new 'threat' profile. Setup one for Sansha with em/thermal damage and you'll see how your tank does against their specific damage (that's what I'm looking at when I'm saying I can tank 206dps against sansha). Didn't know that last bit at all man, nice :) Recommendations for the profiles? I'm finding Eve Survival somewhat less than accurate in many cases, so I'm hesitant to go simply off of that. Do you just put in 50/50 for the two primary types a rat normally does? Title: Re: A newbie Drake setup? Post by: Amarr HM on April 06, 2008, 07:57:13 PM sansha rats are kinda 60% EM 40% THERM (due to the paradise missiles some of them use) fit CDFP rigs when you can afford it greatly increases your passive defence. other than that fit looks good I agree with using an omni tank for ratting jus in case heh also invulns have a boost to your defence when ur shields hit 30%
Title: Re: A newbie Drake setup? Post by: Akkori on April 07, 2008, 06:04:00 AM The random gank is indeed why I have 2 Invul hardeners. I went up against a Sansha Mutant Lord (900k bounty) and 2 bodyguards last night (unknown bounty). The Lord was shooting Paradise cruise at me (make a cool noise and visual effect). I was only down to about 60% shields at the end. Took a lot of missiles though, jeez.
I think I am going to drop the mid-slot sensor booster for something else. Salvager would be nice, but I think it is several days away. Maybe a thermal hardener too so I can go afk while I fight, lol. All in all, it seems to be a decent setup for pve. Title: Re: A newbie Drake setup?
