Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: Nebu on April 05, 2008, 09:26:00 PM I really don't know how to feel about this one. I certainly respect him for his on-screen personna. He was bigger than life.
I'm doing my best to leave this one out of politics and just say RIP. Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: naum on April 05, 2008, 10:17:49 PM No "cold dead hands" cracks please… …though somebody already has scrubbed any reference it to it on his Wikipeda entry (WikiNazi always alive)…
Heston had remarkable run, blockbuster Hollywood stud, civil rights activist (he was big MLK/JFK supporter who switched over in 80s to Reagan), NRA president etc… …got to give him props for all that. RIP Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: Lakov_Sanite on April 06, 2008, 10:19:59 AM He did a lot with the time he was given and will be remembered.
Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: Damn Dirty Ape on April 06, 2008, 10:32:49 AM No one could emote quite like Charlton Heston. He was like William Shatner but with real talent.
You maniacs! You blew it up! Awww, damn you! God damn you all to hell! It's a madhouse! A MADHOUSE!!! And of course: Get your stinking paws off me, you damn dirty ape! Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: Llava on April 06, 2008, 09:40:02 PM The man was a racial progressive. Credit where it's due. He wasn't a bad guy, I just differ with him on some things. RIP

It seemed appropriate for this board.Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: Bunk on April 07, 2008, 06:02:05 AM RIP Mr. Heston. Wasn't a big fan of his looney NRA stuff, but was a huge fan of his movies. Only man to ever wear a neckerchief throughout a movie and still be cool.
It's sad that he's gone, but it means a little more Green for everyone. Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: Special J on April 07, 2008, 06:12:35 AM I'm not keen on everything he did, but he did some good too. And none of it takes that he did some truly great films and has his name stamped on so many classics.
So long, Cheston. Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: Sky on April 07, 2008, 06:14:38 AM Hey, fuck you naum.
I guess they finally got his gun. Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: Riggswolfe on April 07, 2008, 06:56:25 AM Hey, fuck you naum. I guess they finally got his gun. If they didn't I may dig him up. Sorry but I can't resist a good dare and that cold dead hands thing was just that. Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: Signe on April 07, 2008, 07:09:03 AM Didn't like all his melodramatic films. He was a loony. Nasty politics. So sorry he got old and died.
Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: Hutch on April 07, 2008, 07:18:06 AM I guess they finally got his gun. If they didn't I may dig him up. Sorry but I can't resist a good dare and that cold dead hands thing was just that. This is why I avoid the RIP, Charleton Heston. Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: HaemishM on April 07, 2008, 07:44:02 AM Hey, I didn't much like his politics either (especially the row with Ice-T) but give the man some respect. He produced some fantastic work in his time. He will be missed.
Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: Sky on April 07, 2008, 08:15:21 AM In what way doesn't my comment exhibit both class and respect?
They were never able to pry away his gun. I'm for guns, I like them. I didn't care for his cheesy acting, but I didn't mention that until you guys decided I was being classless and disrespectful. lern2comprehend Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: WayAbvPar on April 07, 2008, 08:21:14 AM Quote No "cold dead hands" cracks please Wrong. He made his bed, now he gets to lie in it. Them's the breaks. Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: Signe on April 07, 2008, 10:07:57 AM Don't remember liking any of his films (yes, that includes Planet of the Apes), but I give respect by mocking dead people less than alive people. Is that not enough?

He produced some fantastic work in his time. He will be missed. He produced some ok work. He acted with his chin and his gruff voice which is worth something I guess. But he really was the William Shatner of his time. Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: kaid on April 07, 2008, 12:12:54 PM Those damn dirty apes!
RIP Charlton Heston. He had a good run though and did a lot with his live some stuff I agree with some I don't but living a full live is about all any of us can ask for or hope for and he had a good run. I'd pay good money to see the moment when ole Chuck meets the real Moses. (Assuming there is one of course.) Title: Re: RIP Charlton Heston Post by: stray on April 07, 2008, 03:47:44 PM I've personally met him. He's nothing like Charlton. More like "Sam Crenshaw", the nightwatchman from that old Nickelodeon kid's show.
[edit] Okay, I'm drunk. Don't mind that post. |
