I feel bad for that Artix guy, the bidding was clearly to get the #1 sword but since he lost by a hundred bucks he's automatically on the hook for #2 at $20,600... :ye_gods:

When listing celebrities who play WoW, it's probably a good idea to start with celebrities.  I'm a pretty big fan of Buffy (like the kind who has a few songs from Once More With Feeling on his iPod.... what?! "How You Feel" is a great song!) and I have no idea who this woman is or in what plot lines her character ("Vi") was involved.  My best guess is that she was one of the dozens of potential slayers in the last season.

Not to insult her or anything, but the placement was very strange to me.  "Celebrities who play WoW are Felicia Day, Brandon Routh, Dave Chappelle...."

Everyone who payed the cover fee for the Auction is guaranteed a sword, regardless of final bidding status.  The bidding is more to determine which Number is stamped on the hilt of your sword then anything else.

Wonder how much money they'd make putting this in-game.

That's the philosophy behind microtrans.  It's the wave of the future.

A 5 and Dime (or Dollar store concept) is the idea behind microtrans.  i.e. Making big money on millions of people paying a buck or two on nonsense.  Paying silly amounts for fluff/vanity items is more of a "emperors new cloths" type of concept.

And both are tried and true methods of seperating a fool from his money.

Speaking as someone with more money than sense (It's not hard...) who owns 3 blades, I think the swords really cool.
