Okay, the league things sucks since disconnect is automatic loss.  Way and I were playing in lambeau, in the snow, having a good time.  CRAZY slippery field, balls flying everywhere.  Close game, 10-7 with the packers leading early in the 2nd.  Connection drops, I lose.

Yeah.  That was fun.  Not.  Actually the game WAS fun.  The outcome resolution sucked.  My interest in this league just dropped like a rock.  Why bother if the outcomes are arbitrary?

Yeah that is BS. I wonder if the commish can reset games or something? Or we can play an out of league game to make up for it? I guess that would FUBAR the stats, but still...

Not too enthused about the drop = forfeit rule. It only gave Alluvian 20 seconds to reconnect, and then it was over. Bad bad bad.

My xbox totally locked up after the disco actually.  I had to turn it off.  It just hung at waiting for connection for a few minutes.

Goddamnit, the administrator options are jack and fucking shit. I can advance the schedule to the next week, or look at the names the players in the league. I apparently have no control whatsoever over games like this, because the league just automatically says "You disco, you lose." Fucking fuckity fuck. I'd have more control if I just did all the administration options outside of the fucking game and just generated my own schedule.

Well, I have a bad habit of disconnecting from Xboxlive service, so I will probably go 0-12 for the year.  Xboxlive has always given me trouble where other mmogs run just fine.

I know my connection didn't go down because my wife was on EQ2 at the time and had no connectivity problems at all.

The Colts DEFENSE won a game? WTF is wrong with this picture?

I tried to get too cute.  Up 20-17 with ~1.53 left in the 4th, I ran the same play formation 3 times in a row varying the option. 1st was a run right (min gain), 2nd was a pass right (incomp), 3rd was a pass attempt left against single coverage; had the DB missed I think I could have gone all the way, instead he picked it and took it all the way back.  McNabb's 3rd pick of the game.  I have now realized my ball control is so appealing; I shall become Bill Parcels.

Choked on my next series, and had I held Haem's Colts on a 3rd down play I could have gotten away with a FG and gotten the ball back down 7; so of course, I get called for pass interference.  Like the 2nd penalty the whole game :)

So yes, a colts DB was my downfall. :-/

Yes, I was as surprised as Xil by the manner of my victory. The Colts DB's either get burned BIG TIME, or they make a spectacular INT. Had I been able to stop the run game a little earlier, I might not have been in such bad shape come the fourth quarter. Hell, Peyton threw 2 INT's and was only 9/27. Yes, I suck that bad. :) Had it not been for Edge pulling off a 31 yd run late, I'd only have won 21-20. The luck was on my side in this game.

If you go to the league's web site, every game has a box score, a recap and a play-by-play transcript of the game. Very helpful to study your upcoming opponents. I swear, if you added a few options to the league administration, allowed custom rosters and playbooks in the online leagues, this would be the perfect football game. Oh yes, and make it so fumble fingers like me can actually make tackles on motherfuckers like Terrell Owens, kthx.

At the moment this not playing the game thing looks pretty good.  They all have higher records than when you actually play the game, score more, and disconnect.

Zet and I got our game in. Holy crap what a good game. Came down to basically a 4th and 4 for me and couldn't do it. Huge plays either way.

Fucking Andre Johnson ate my babies tho. Serves me right on a few, kept going for the int instead of covering the receiver.

I read the play-by-play of the Houston-Tampa game. Holy shit that was a steady diet of Andre Johnson for the TD! And I get to play against that next week with the Colts' D.

Yeah it was a great one.   It was all about the WRs on that game, killing Brad Johnson helped me out alot too.  Everytime I scored I kept thinking, "ok that score put it out of reach" but Murdoc's Buccs refused to give in.   You had me on the ropes at the end there.  Like you said one play was the difference.  

You gotta look at the positive Haem, Murdoc was able to light up my D with Brian fucking Greise, this should prove to be an interesting game.

Ozzix and Devourment, if at all possible, try to finish your game by the end of the weekend. I'd like to advance the schedule on Monday night. Unless either of you let me know by PM or posting on the league's web site that this is unpossible, I'll probably decide the winner either by coin toss or by running a simulation game between the two teams and letting that decide the winner.

Sure hope they are getting enough feedback to put something like that into 2k6.  I mean I can see where you would want drop=loss in a pickup league, but with people you somewhat know it is lame.

There SHOULD be an option to just fucking pick up again where the drop occured, and if both sides don't get back together to finish the game then maybe let the winner at that point win.

At this rate I fear I will have more drops this league than the Packers had first half vs the lions.

Good game PD, my defence in the 2nd half made all the difference. It was pretty close imo until Rice decided to rip Bledsoe apart. But you got the big hit in as now I'm down both Brad Johnson (bastard Zet) AND Joey Galloway.

I can't believe how many dropped passes we had in that game too. Seemed that a few drives absolutely stalled because our receivers couldn't hang on.

I cannot fathom how my offensive line was ripped apart so easily in the second half.  Was frustrating to say the least.  Hurting Joey Galloway did make it a little easier to take.

McGahee was useless for the most part, which is par for the course.

The only receiver worth a damn on my team is Eric Moulds, without him...I shudder to think what would happen.

Bledsoe's propensity to throw interceptions makes me want to go on a world-wide killing spree.  But I'm not bitter...not at all.

Though last night if Pig had his on, I didn't actually realise it wasn't full plugged in until 1/2 time and by then I figured even if he was talking, he gave up by then.

I actually don't have a headset. I will probably need to get one at some point, I just haven't wanted to plop down $30 on one yet.

I always wear my headset.  Though, the two games I've played so far there have been no talking.  

As a matter of fact, when Joey Galloway got hurt last night, I said into the headset something to the effect of "holy shit don't kill me" becuause I knew of your misfortunes with Brad Johnson.

There may have been some F-bombs thrown in every now and then for good measure as well.

yeah, I had my headset on for the whole first 1/2 but realised it wasn't plugged in fully into the controller.

I said howdy a couple times after that though, but I have the feeling I don't have something set up right for voice chat to work. I'll have to play around with it a bit.


Edit - Just also wanted to add how kickass the webpage for our league is. I actually just enjoy going back and reading the play by play of other games. Too be honest (and I may be silly for saying it) if I was around and knew what times you other guys played your games, if it were possible, I would probably watch them.

Is there any way to make positional subs permanent in this league?  I don't like where Javon Walker lines up by default.  The only way I know of changing him is EVERY SINGLE GAME in EVERY SINGLE FORMATION.  I just want him to be the number 1 reciever on the other side of driver.  Have not messed with it yet, but Fergusen is going to get me KILLED with all his dropped passes.

I made this change is a nice and easy depth chart interface in my offline fanchise mode and am used to seeing walker where fergusen is.  It leads to a lot of unopen passes.

I have some pre-existing commitments this week so I am not sure how free I will be to play our game Ozzu.

I think I should be free around 8pm EST tomorrow (wednesday).  I have to be somewhere else at 10pm so it would have to start pretty close to 8.

Unfortunately, there is no game-to-game depth charts or roster changes. You can make trades, but if you don't like the depth chart, you have to remember to change him every game.

Maybe in next year's game, they'd allow custom rosters in online leagues.

I was leading 17-13, but he was about to score off a deep 3 and out he forced on me.

I only had one good drive, for the opening 3 points, the rest was on a kickoff return and a 60 yard run.  Nice crushing ground game out of the cowboys.  Man, that three back offensive power set is hard to shut down for less than 5 yards.

When I did stuff the run he would almost always get the clutch throw on third down.

I started forcing stuff on offense knowing he was clobbering my D and I had NO time of posession so I threw a pick, etc...

Damnit.  Not how I want to win.  Would rather lose fair.

Ouch, the disconnects are running rampant. It really sucks that there is no way to redo a game.

Yeah, that sucked. I really felt like I was getting something going. I saw the screen pop up with the disconnect countdown and looked down at my cable modem which had all the lights out save the "Power" light. I guess the internet decided to hiccup at a bad time. Definitely. That was a fun game, but I got worried I might be running up the score on you, which is why I gave you a steady diet of the Edge in the second half. Still, it shows just how important a good RB is in this game. I know on one play where I gained something like 20 yards on a run, I didn't even bother with special moves and was still shedding tackles. Rickey Williams was even worse about it before they removed him from the Miami online roster.

We'll definitely have to play some golf. Links 2k4 is entirely too much fun.

We played our game, there were no disconnects and I got through my first game without having a player get hurt!

It was a bit sloppy considering neither of us have played in probably 1.5 months, but ended up being a really close game that was a lot of fun.

I think it basically came down to my one interception with Gold which lead to my first lead of the game, and then this play: Matt Hasselbeck (SEA) pass across the middle dropped by Darrell Jackson (SEA) as Jackson was wide open and that would of put you ahead at that point.

All right, if you two can actually get a game done, then that means the rest of us slackers need to pick it up. I'm going to set a deadline of Monday. If your games aren't done by Monday, I'm going to sim the games and adjust the schedule accordingly.

Guys, I apologize profusely.  My work has completely taken over my life, I haven't even logged into the site in quite some time, much less been able to spare an hour or so to play football.  Haem I'd say it'd probably be a good idea to Sim my games :(  Again, I apologize.

Ok, I'm finally going to sim the last two games of this week tonight and advance the season. It'll probably happen around 10 pm CST tonight.

I went ahead and simmed the other two games last night. Indy squeaked by Buffalo in a rainy, 9-7 win. Yep, no TD's for the Colts. Meanwhile, Philly barely bested Houston 24-21 in OT, in another rainy game. I advanced the schedule, so look for your opponent and try to get a game in within the next 2 weeks.

I got Philly this week(s). Xilren, any specific times work best for you? I'm out of town for the weekend, but will be free tonight and friday night. Next week starts to get difficult for me as I start night shifts.

Ozzu kicked my motherfucking ass Saturday night. It was fairly close until the 2nd half. I had Eddie George pretty well contained. 14-7 with about 1 minute left in the first half, and I have first and goal on the 5 yard line (I think). Damn if I don't throw an INT which he returns for a TD. That threw me into a mostly passing situation, which really didn't help. I ended up with 5 INT's to his 3. I should have started double-teaming Terry Glenn earlier, because he was flat out burning Ken Lucas deep. (Yeah, I traded Way for Ken Lucas, who did get my first INT in this game). Ozzix managed to return a 2nd INT deep in the red zone for a TD, which is pretty much what sealed my fate. That and my defense apparently lost all ability to tackle Eddie George in the 4th quarter. He went from averaging around 2-3 yards a carry to around 5-6 in the fourth. No idea what happened.

Oh and thanks a fucking lot... my starting free safety, Bashir, is now out for 14 weeks with a fractured arm. Luckily, I have Sanders, who is a decent backup, but Bashir was the fucking man for me with INT's.

I keep forgetting to log in and see who I am supposed to play- anyone know? I have been playing NBA 2k5 the past few days, but could switch back to pigskin pretty easily. Holla!

Yeah it was pretty tough up until the int to start the 4th quarter. After that return for a TD, I decided I'd stop letting Vinny fuck me up and just pound the ball. Anytime I start getting pass happy, bad things happen. Serious question, is there anyone who wants to trade for Vinny? You could give me a cripple and a box of rocks and I'd be happy.  :-D

Hmmm, Vinny for Sorgi and a scrub DT and I'd be ok with that. I have absolutely zero depth at DT and ANYONE who could come in when they get tired would be ideal. Then again, I'm not sure the Colts trading D away would be the best idea.  :-D

Hoping Xil checks either his PMs or this thread. I move out this weekend and it's going to be really hectic to get our game in if we don't play this week.

I haven't explored the options yet- any way to play some games against the AI and some against live opponents? It would be cool to be able to play a bunch of games for the season.

Being that the in-box manual is shit, I have no idea. I'll see what I can find out.
