His ability to get stars is going down.

Sadly he still can get local stars. Till Schweiger is not unknown in Germany.

He was awesome in SLC Punk.

Paging Haemish for a Uwe Boll rant.

That looks really good.

Despite rarely going to the cinema in years, I feel must go and see this on it's opening night.

Assuming it gets a release here.

More like one of the most popular ones.

edit: After actually watching the trailer I think he had more fun shooting this movie than the audience will have watching it.

Till Schweiger would be an ideal fit for any Uwe Boll movie. He can't act his way out of a paper bag, is a one trick pony and hugely overrated and has nothing going for him except his good looks.

It looks like one of those really awful TV shows that always seem to be on the channels you skip over..

Edit: Maybe for his next movie he should reunite the cast of VIP.

This might be Uwe Boll's first mediocre movie actually. Possibly even watchable.

That old german guy though (the scientist)... Why?? He's a joke. He belongs in Nina Hagen videos or something.

Based on that trailer, I would not watch that film.  Even if it were free and made exclusively for Sci Fi TV.  Which is what it looked like.  Bleh.  I bet it nowhere near up to mediocre standards.

Was that the music from Batman Begins and The Usual Suspects? They don't even have their own music for the promos!

This is the Uwe Bol movie to rule them all: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/107372.html

My first impression of the trailer was that it didn't look as realistic as the game.

Oh yeah, you might be right there. Kinda has a Troma feel to it.

Also, Dave Foley with a hitler mustache.

According to a couple of buddies of mine, Dungeon Siege was mediocre and watchable. I haven't seen it yet.

I saw the Anthony Bourdain show that featured both EA Sports Canada and this movie in the same show. It was painful, but watching Boll deal with Bourdain on the set was gold. It completely explains how his movies suck so much ass. He's asked to direct and he tells Bourdain (who isn't an actor really) to just do whatever.

Way to direct there, Assgoblin.

I will watch this movie and enjoy the delicious pain of it all.

That may be why some of these actors don't mind working with him then. Many would rather be told to do "just whatever". Heh

Brando would have been fucking GOLD in a Uwe Boll movie. Ever seen Missouri Breaks? Or Candy? That was the greatest screen actor of all time being allowed to do just whatever he wanted to do.

Ok, GWB and OBL holding hands and skipping through a field while nuclear missiles rain down on the countryside behind them is a pretty damn awesome scene.

I'm just waiting for Uwe to get mad and BEAT UP THE INTERNETS some more.  That was some funny shit.

Alone in the Dark writers go  :ye_gods: (http://www.somethingawful.com/d/feature-articles/behind-scenes-uwe.php)

Wired go  :ye_gods: (http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.12/ragingboll.html)

Neither are really new news but are interesting in a trainwreck kind of way.

If it's watchable, it's because Germany finally ended that tax break that made poorly performing movies profitable for German investors, which was why Uwe Boll got to keep making movies.

His investors were banking on him doing so poorly. The only question is, of course, whether he knew that or not.

He is "The Producers" brought to life.  I haven't seen Postal - does it have tap-dancing Nazis?

I hate to put it this way (because I like foreign films), but if they really wanted to invest in something that did poorly, then they would have stood behind any other german director besides uwe boll. Y'know, the ones that actually make quality human interest stories that take place in germany? Not a guy who bases all of his productions after video games -- he actually has a chance of pulling in some cash, just on that premise.

Even a blind hog finds an acorn once in awhile.  See: Joel Schumacher and The Lost Boys.

I used to like that movie, but watched it recently and thought it stunk. The only thing good about it was Echo and the Bunnymen.

If Tony Bourdain is in this movie there just became one reason to see it. Well, for free, anyway.

If it's watchable, it's because Germany finally ended that tax break that made poorly performing movies profitable for German investors, which was why Uwe Boll got to keep making movies.

Uwe Boll movies are highly profitable enterprises, that's why people keep giving him money to do more. They are low budget (usually under 20 - 30 million) don't have a significant marketing budget and easily gross enough on box office and DVD sales and rentals to justify the investment. They even have some sort of cult following because of the trash factor.

This kind of investment is profitable for German investors not because of those films not being profitable but because of the german movie funding system.

The German Filmförderfonds (fund for the advancement of german movies) was founded to aid german filmmakers in raising enough money to actually make films. It is  basically a government insttitution that offers grants to german movie productions.

Basically every film that is produced in whole or in part in germany is eligible to funding by the Filmförderfonds. The funds will grant up to 20% of the production costs as a non-refundable payment. Only those production costs that have been spent in germany that is. The maximum amount of money per film is 4 million euro. That'd be 20 to 25% of the budget of a standard Uwe Boll film. So the german republic basically subsidized a american movie production. That is why a lot of films have at least some scenes in germany nowadays (Valkyrie and the bourne ultimatum for example)

Also germans investing in german movie productions get tax breaks from the government.
