Title: Fantasy Hoops? Post by: WayAbvPar on October 14, 2004, 10:25:19 AM I have never tried roto basketball- anyone interested in a friendly league? It might make the NBA season slightly interesting.
Title: Fantasy Hoops? Post by: HaemishM on October 14, 2004, 10:26:44 AM I hate basketball in all forms other than me playing in a pickup game with other inept white men. Especially the NBA.

Post by: Rasix on October 14, 2004, 10:28:35 AM Maybe just for a chuckle. I hate the goddamn NBA, but at least this would give me another non work related thing to do at work.
Title: Fantasy Hoops? Post by: stray on October 14, 2004, 10:40:10 AM Yeah, I'm down (WTF? You guys like Baseball, but not Basketball?).
I think the NBA is looking to be a hell of a lot better this year than in the past few (lots of new blood, and trades galore), and much more competitive than in the early 90's (Jordan can get a little boring, y'know?). The East is still in the dumps though (they should move the T'Wolves). Title: Fantasy Hoops? Post by: WayAbvPar on October 14, 2004, 11:01:17 AM Quote from: Rasix Maybe just for a chuckle. Post by: Soukyan on October 14, 2004, 11:12:26 AM I know nothing about NBA players... so what the hell. ;)

I'm not a fan of the NBA, stopped watching after NBA Jam came out for my Sega Gensis. I still get regular updates from my bud who is obsessed w/ the Sun so I might make a title bid. Or I could pick all Eastern Europeans for teh win! Edit: it's Europe. Not Eurpe. Title: Fantasy Hoops? I would instead go for either players who have done jail time or are likely to do jail time sometime during the season... You'll have a wider selection to choose from. I'm in as well and also have limited NBA knowledge outside of the Cavs. Title: Fantasy Hoops? Post by: HaemishM on October 14, 2004, 02:52:39 PM This would give me an excuse to name my team "Gonna Choke a Bitch... er Coach."
Title: Fantasy Hoops? Post by: Rasix on October 14, 2004, 02:55:02 PM Team "Not Old Enough to Drink" might do fairly well.
Title: Fantasy Hoops? Post by: HaemishM on October 14, 2004, 02:58:22 PM Dibs on Lebron. He's the only guy in the league I can actually like.
Title: Fantasy Hoops? Post by: Nebu on October 14, 2004, 03:13:45 PM I ran a league for 6 years in a time before they were available on the Web. What I created was a bastardized version of Rotisserie baseball adapted to the NBA (10 categories scored 1-10, high total points won). If you have any interest in the NBA at all, it's a good way to keep up on the players, trends, and bit players.
I'm not sure if they still do it, but USA today used to publish a weekly stat sheet for the NBA in every Tuesday edition. Picking up the last sheet from the previous year was often a great tool for drafting in the next season. Once you had this, knew the impact trades and the current rookie class, you were good to go. If you put together a league, I'd be interested... Any thoughts on the host, format, and whether or not it will be a keeper league? Title: Fantasy Hoops? Post by: MrHat on October 14, 2004, 04:00:16 PM Wait, this is like automated online right?
Title: yahoo Post by: jwinston2 on October 17, 2004, 10:38:05 PM Yes they are automated and can be done in different formats. Head to Head, Rotisserie, etc.
The best free site available is yahoo, the link is below: http://basketball.fantasysports.yahoo.com/nba After someone makes a league, to join you need a yahoo account and know the league # and password. I play every year and have to say its fun if your willing to spend the time, games are played almost everyday and unless you do only lineup changes once a week it can take a slight amount of time changing lineups. |
