It's like junk food Thanksgiving! No one is coming over, though, and we hafta eat it all ourselves.  :uhrr:

Oh yes, there will be beer. But we just picked up a light brown ale for drinkability. If I was pounding Shiner bock I wouldn't have room for snacks!  :awesome_for_real:

Since it's just the two of us (and two kitties), it's steak sandwiches for dinner, fresh kibble for the kitties and no snacks.   :grin:

I'm having a Notwatchingthesuperbowl Sandwich.  It's yummy. 

We're not watching either, really. I'm here while Sauced plays Metroid Prime Corruption and we are both drinking beer.

I made some shrimp with a garlic lemon butter pinogrigio cheese sauce over linguine, topped with marinated mozz chez chunks. Forgot to wrap the shrimp in maple bacon, so tonight we'll have the other half of the shrimp wrapped in maple bacon over rice. I LOVE MAPLE BACON. I'm a maple freak. Maple sugar, maple syrup, maple bacon, MORE MAPLE. Gramp used to know a guy who tapped trees, I think I was hooked as a kid on the good stuff.

Had an Ommegang Witte (light white wheat) with dinner and settled down after with the last of my stash of Saranac Black Diamond Bocks.

Washed it down with some Black Butte Porter.  My first time with this beer and it was quite good. 

Pretty ordinary (but tasty), but eating constantly helped get through the first 3 quarters.

it was like triple chocolate, plus chips in the icing.., then some gooey chocolate stuff in the middle.. then the cake itself was chocolate. to top it off, it was a bitch to cut. the thing was like 8 inches high. you couldn't get a small piece.

What is "powdered" chex?  Do you snort it?

Nothing special. Just chex cereal sprinkled with powdered sugar. I guess it made a good table appetizer for people who didn't want anything salty..

I've been to the brewery that makes it! It's in Bend, Oregon, in the high desert. Deschutes makes some good beers.

How do you get it to stick?  Do you drizzle the chex mix with something like Karo, oil, or butter?  It sounds good.  I'd probably mix this with some nuts for the sweet/salty effect though then the people that wanted to avoid salty would be out of luck.

I don't think you have to do anything special.  Chex has a rough surface and powderd sugar likes to stick to things.   Just stick it in a bag and shake it.  Shake it like a polaroid picture.

it was quite tasty!  I should have taken a pic after I sliced it open but it was disappearing as fast as I was carving it (plus I was afraid to leave it unattended while I went in search of the camera).

She speaketh the truth. I haven't had a Deschutes beer I didn't like yet. Mirror Pond is probably my fav atm.

When was the Super Bowl?  Sunday?  I probably made a pizza.  Wheat crust, Muir Glen organic sauce, Horizon organic cheddar, totally inorganic Italian Spice.
