Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: AngryGumball on January 29, 2008, 03:45:48 AM Sins of a Solar Empire - Take 2 - (PC)
Craving totally something new RTS...its a Day one purchase right now. Not going to wait for reviews or impressions. Just watched G4TV's preview http://www.g4tv.com/xplay/previews/19985/Hands_On_Sins_of_a_Solar_Empire.html (http://www.g4tv.com/xplay/previews/19985/Hands_On_Sins_of_a_Solar_Empire.html) My last 3 RTS purchased were, Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts....Supreme Commander(Original) C&C3. All 3 currently uninstalled, never finished any of the 3. Couldn't justify purchasing the xpansion for SupCom, when I never fully got full play out of original even if it was major upgrade from everythign i read. C&C3 I shoulda not bought got to much hype and bought it. Company of Heroes I got enough playtime, that I'm fine with, I just realized I couldn't hang with any skill with the online players. So I put SupCom on my pile of shame game table want to finish it play it more just never did, I put C&C3 into my angry that I bought it, more fuck you EA. Opposing fronts glad i bought it since I missed original, glad I support Relic, would play it more if i didn't need my HDD space to download more Naruto and Bleach, although I know full well I'd never master it to be a compentent 2v2 4v4 partner. Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Moaner on January 29, 2008, 04:38:48 AM I'm sort of broke at the moment and will only be picking up Culdecept Saga. I just bought Burnout Paradise (which rocks) and I'm hoping that keeps me entertained for a while.
I hope Nobunaga's Ambition is good and doesn't sell out in a week. Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Mazakiel on January 29, 2008, 07:21:30 AM Culdcept, Turok, And DMC4 are definites for me. Thankfully, I'll have my birthday the day after they hit, so I'll have the spare money.
On the Nobunaga game, I'm not sure, I'll have to see how the gameplay is. I love RotTK, but mostly the ones with the more detailed officer modes, like X was. Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Riggswolfe on January 29, 2008, 07:30:40 AM Culdcept I will probably get. I want to read reviews of Nobununga's to see if the officer mode is detailed since I'm like Mazakiel and prefer that greatly.
I am on the fence about DMC4. I liked the first one but each sequel seemed less fun to me. So I don't know if I'll pick this one up or not, probably not. Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Yegolev on January 29, 2008, 08:18:45 AM Culdcept.
Sins. Blokus, apparently. New battery cover for my PSP. I played the DMC4 demo, and while it is fun it's just not that much fun that I have to get it now. Played Uncharted last night until my PS3 locked up, giving me a bout of deja-vu and depression at how long ago I saved, so that's what I'll be doing when not playing Advance Wars, Folklore or Digital Devil Saga. Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Soukyan on January 29, 2008, 08:29:24 AM Devil May Cry 4 - Capcom Production Studio 1 - (PS3, 360, PC) Sins of a Solar Empire - Take 2 - (PC) Yum. Yum. Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Sky on January 29, 2008, 08:40:49 AM Why is Spaceforce Captains written by an ESL dev house? Goddamned lack of quality turn-based strategy. Boo on Stardock, RTS crap. :oh_i_see:
Ah, well. Probably only get worse, I don't see attention spans getting longer. Some show on the effect of the internet had some kid who was saying he doesn't have time to read, so he uses some Cliff Notes-style website. "Yeah, I can read a book in five minutes!" No, douchebag. You can't. I'm old, crotchety, and happy as hell to be that way. :geezer: Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Mazakiel on January 29, 2008, 09:24:31 AM Played Uncharted last night until my PS3 locked up, giving me a bout of deja-vu and depression at how long ago I saved, so that's what I'll be doing when not playing Advance Wars, Folklore or Digital Devil Saga. Same thing happend to me, and at a very hectic plot twist moment. I had to go away for awhile to calm down, but when I came back and hit continue, it'd dropped me to moments before from where it locked up. It saved it at the last checkpoint basically, so I didn't have to replay several hours worth of the game. Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Yegolev on January 29, 2008, 10:58:22 AM Oh, that's a relief. I somehow got the idea it didn't autosave checkpoints. Probably because the last time Uncharted locked up, my PS3 took a dirt nap. This "new" one (a 60GB, mua-ha-ha) has been unwrapped for about a week.
Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Velorath on January 29, 2008, 11:56:29 AM I'll definately be picking up Culdcept. I'm reluctant to pick up any PS2 games (until such time as a BC PS3 becomes cheap enough to justify purchase) since my PS2 has one foot in the grave. I'll likely pick up Twisted Metal anyway, but I'll wait on Nobunaga's Ambition.
Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Azazel on January 29, 2008, 12:18:33 PM I'm very interested in seeing some reviews of Twisted Metal. And DMC4 for that matter. I'm back at work now, so I don't have nearly as much time to laze around the house, gaming when it suits me, so am less likely to go out a-buying too much stuff for the unplayed pile. At full price, anyway.
Isn't Turok another FPS, like on the N64? Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Rasix on January 29, 2008, 12:23:38 PM Culdcept will be bought. I have a preorder for Nobunaga but may wait on it. Of course, the title alone almost demands I but it, but I haven't played anything from KOEI since the SNES. I am also afraid of PS2 rarity, when it so strikes. :|
I just got in :nda: so my gaming time just got a lot tighter. Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Murgos on January 29, 2008, 12:29:42 PM About the only one I'm really looking forward to is Sins of a Solar Empire.
The rest I will probably pass on. Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Stormwaltz on January 29, 2008, 12:39:55 PM Nobunaga's Ambition: Rise to Power - KOEI - (PS2) Sins of a Solar Empire - Take 2 - (PC) Spaceforce Captains - Provox Games - (PC) These. Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: schild on January 29, 2008, 12:42:27 PM oh hello
SpaceForce Captains is a traditional square based tactics title for the PC? Interesting. Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Yegolev on January 29, 2008, 12:50:37 PM I looked over the screens of SpaceForce Captains. Gamer Sense says "buy".
Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: schild on January 29, 2008, 12:51:16 PM Jerk sense says read the comments. Patch before release. And people are saying it's absolutely buggy as fuck.
Which makes sense since our gamer senses are aligned. Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Yegolev on January 29, 2008, 12:56:50 PM Yea, I did say after screenshots but I didn't read the comments. Those replies in the patch thread are brutal.
Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: stray on January 29, 2008, 03:05:02 PM Turok :\
Too many PS3 shooters as it is. [edit] Y'know, I might just forgo DMC for a bit (even though I've been waiting for a long time), and go crazy with Nobunaga. I don't need both right now. Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Dtrain on January 30, 2008, 03:27:51 AM Ah Culdcept - for the first time I have a title that is really tempting me towards the purchase of an Xbox 360.
I still enjoy Culdcept on the PS2, but one card and one card only ruined this game for me. Mostly because nobody would play me after I got it. Old Willow. Getting that thing down on an important square at max level was just about a guaranteed win. In retrospect, I should have just admitted to everyone that it was cheap and just not used it. Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: schild on January 30, 2008, 05:55:11 AM What did it do? I simply don't remember the entire library of available cards.
Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Khaldun on January 30, 2008, 07:32:46 AM I'm still mulling over Burnout Paradise. I didn't like the demo all that much, and I know some people are having a really negative reaction to the major change in the formula.
Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Azazel on January 30, 2008, 07:39:50 AM I'm feeling very similar. I really wanted a proper next-gen Burnout of the established formula - Burnout 3: Takedown is a better game then Burnout (4): Revenge. And Revenge is really a PS2/XBox port rather than a native 360/PS3 game (for what I'm talking about, compare the visuals of Tomb Raider: Legend to Assassin's Creed)
If we'd gotten a "proper" new Burnout for the 360, I'd have not cared at all if they want to explore new ground with the franchise in following years. meh Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Morfiend on January 30, 2008, 09:16:38 AM Turok for 360, if they ever ship my 360 back to me.
Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: naum on January 30, 2008, 09:18:31 AM Turok for 360, if they ever ship my 360 back to me. What is the deal with all the broken 360's…? Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Azazel on January 30, 2008, 12:42:30 PM Apparently the pixies they catch and set to work inside them can drop dead from heat stroke.

(http://mog.com/pictures/wikipedia/23726/Pixies.jpg) You bastards! Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Dtrain on January 30, 2008, 06:00:06 PM What did it do? I simply don't remember the entire library of available cards. Old willow is a defensive only fire card, with a high defense stat. It's special power was that anyone passing over it's square had to fight it no matter if they landed on it or not. So put it on a fire tile near the start point, level the surrounding lands up to max, and the thing has like 120(?) defense just on it's own. Now add to it any number of the +defensive cards you could pull and the thing was an unstoppable money making machine raking in thousands of mana from anyone passing over it. Basically they're forced to choose between a quick and brutal death or a slow lingering death of attrition as they wander some forgotten corner of the board without mana hoping despirately to shake you down for some mana with one of their few remaining cards. In short, PURE EVIL. :drill: Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: MrHat on February 01, 2008, 02:43:51 PM Oh man, I was all set to play Culdcept Saga all night tonight.
WRONG. Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Dtrain on February 01, 2008, 10:09:39 PM What happened? :uhrr:
Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Yegolev on February 02, 2008, 09:31:59 AM February 6th, right?
Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: MisterNoisy on February 05, 2008, 04:40:19 PM Looks like the 'Cheap stuff' thread has been unstickied, so I wanted to tell anyone that's interested that the 360 camera bundle is $40 at Toys R Us this week. Basically, it's $10 off a year-long sub to Live and they throw the camera, 200 points and a couple of XBLA games in for free.

Btw, killer boxart on Nobunaga. Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: Yegolev on February 08, 2008, 11:57:36 AM Someone needs to update the wikipedia entry for Nobunaga's Ambition.

Title: Re: Game Releases: Week of Feb. 5th Post by: sidereal on February 08, 2008, 03:30:31 PM I never get tired of Romance of the Gengis Nobunaga. KOEI already made the perfect game in 1989. They just keep selling it to me over again and I keep buying it.
I never played L'Empereur, though. Should probably bust it out on an emulator one of these days. |
