Jist: I need a new CHEAPish PC. I have parts to move over, so I don't need to buy everything.

Things I need:

Case
CPU
Mobo
PSU
RAM

I don't need cutting edge. Right now I'm running an AMD Athlon 64 3700+ w/ 2GB RAM and an 8800GT and haven't had many problems, but the system is starting to age and shows it. Suggestions? Please use NCIX or Canadacomputers for listing. Newegg doesn't ship up here and we don't get the crazy stock in any of our stores that you get from them.

I'll piggy back on your thread as well. I have around a thousand to spend on a computer over the next three months or so.

I have already picked up the following a few months ago when I though I was going to be building it but fund ran out and Christmas happened.

I need CPU, Ram, Video, Motherboard, Hard Drive and anything else inside the machine I might have left out. I don't overclock. This machine is used for everything from Photo Editing and Web Design to Gaming in all regards if that really makes a difference. When I was originally looking I was going to put together an E6600 machine because it was the best bang for the buck but I am sure that has changed a ton since then.

I currently have an AMD 64 3200+ 2 gigs of Ram and a PCIE Radeon X800 and it's not cutting it. Which has lead to me playing my Xbox a whole lot more than I used to.

That barebones is decent. I was considering it as well, but a friend pointed out that if I am not doing SLI, then I could save 40 or 50 bucks on the motherboard.

It has only one IDE connector on the motherboard so it supports 2 IDE drives.

Eh, I don't use my DVD drive anyway.

My SATA DVD-RW drive was like $30 bucks.

Late to the party, but my mobo was the next step up from the one Trippy listed and it rocks all kinds of socks.  The TT cooler is awesome as well, but the weight and size on the thing is just tremendous.  Make sure your case has room and don't muff the instalation.

Asus make great boards. I have been buying them the last 10+ years and can't say I have one complaint, besides having one chipset fan take a shit on me after like a couple months. Those fans seem pretty cheap. But Asus is as solid as you can get IMO.

Compared to the Asus P5K-SE

The G31 is the P31 with onboard video. I.e. it's a gimpier version of the P35 with onboard video you aren't going to use. In particular the P31/G31 does not officially support a FSB of 1333 MHz so ASUS has had to hack their BIOS to support it. I would avoid it.
