Post by: Samwise on December 19, 2007, 07:49:09 PM
It's Unreal Tournament with more polys.

Meh.

Demo it.

Tack on "Laggy, and almost nobody playing" and this counts for PS3 as well.

I've had no problem whatsoever with "lag."

The lag is probably a product of the small playerbase.  If there are only 12 people around the world playing at the same time you are, odds are you're not going to have great latency.

I wasn't even able to get into a multiplayer game when I tried the thing out because I couldn't find a server anywhere near me that had anyone playing on it, and I refuse to play with a ping above 100.

They should have listened to the sleazeball marketing exec who probably wanted to call it "Gears of War Tournament", that would have sold more boxes .

Edit: hah, the spell checker fixed sleezeball -> sleazeball for me.

Maybe I need to jump in the games you are in then.  I got this yesterday from GameFly and had noticeable delay in every game i played.  To the extent of running over a weapon and thinking i missed it because it took so long to show up in my hands.

I noticed in the server browser that a lot of the servers have very high pings (some over 2k) but i specifically went after servers under 100.  I dont think its my connection specifically since i'm well under 100 on most of the warhawk servers.

Gamefly?

Heh, I assume you mean the PS3 version?

Yeah the PS3 version.
Gamefly is a game rental service like netflix.  Saved me a shitload of money on games i thought i would like more (like UT3 for instance).

I know what Gametap is, heh. That's not what I meant.

I mean, it's the PS3 version. The install base isn't really high enough to find a bunch of great servers. Everyone's still playing CoD4.

I dont see it getting better anytime soon based on the reviews this thing is pulling in.  It's not a bad game by any means, just bad timing.

GameFly is different from GameTap btw.  (i'm assuming that was just a typo on your part but...)

Wait, this game is out already?

Yea, it was a typo. I just read the GameTap email that started with Parappa the Rappa lyrics, so it was on my brain.
