Title: It seems all the RPGs were correct

"Rodents Of Unusual Size? I don't think they exist."

"The giant rat is about five times the size of a typical city rat," said Kristofer Helgen, a scientist with the Smithsonian Institution in Washington. "With no fear of humans, it apparently came into the camp several times during the trip."

I'm not sure I believe you.  Bring me 10 such Rat Tails and we'll talk further...

Bring me one rat tail and I'll upgrade your class.

Mine's a better deal than Ironwoods. His offer sucks.

Yes, but I have a large yellow Foam Question Mark above my head.

Seriously.  I get strange looks in the street.

Does this game have crafting?  Can those rat tails be used for anything?

I used to keep a pet domestic "Fancy Rat".  Provided they've been hand-raised, they're actually pretty friendly little guys and make great pets - if you don't mind their involuntary urination and 2 year life span.  I wouldn't recommend breeding them unless you're cool with selling them as snake food.  (This calls for a YouTube video reference (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oYO3dGEmY8).)

From the looks of things, these "5-times the size of city rat" guys are being compared to the average Fancy Rat.  That's not too big, we once had a Norwegian Barn Rat infestation in the garage and they were not much smaller.  Big as cats.  (Poisoned those poor bastards out.)

I used to Bullseye Swamprats in my T-16 back home and they weren't much bigger than two meters.

Great pets with severe drawbacks are not great pets.

I should send you my WoW exclamation point head band to match that (they give them out at gaming conventions).

LoL... "Fancy Rat"

I remember as a kid we had a black rat snake (about 5'-6' long). My dad and I would go to the pet store to buy "feeder mice" to feed the snake. They were about 10 cents a pop. One time we went there was another child there who wanted a "pet mouse". Sure enough it came right out of the same exact cage but this time it cost $5.

Now I'm not saying your "Fancy Rat" is the same deal as the "feeder" vs. "pet" mouse but it made me laugh.

We used to love buying mice for our monitors, but getting rabbits for the big snake was the best. Some kids would be looking at the cute little bunnies and we would evilly chuckle over which one would die to appease the reptiles. Bonus if it was one the kid was trying to convince his parents to buy.    :ye_gods:

Honestly, we should just den everything after the second post, lock the thread and sticky it. Its what Santa would want.

Ok, see, the point is not to ask what the funny looking guy wants with a stack of dead rats.  Just take your money and move onto the next guy looking lost.

Villagers boil rats in Suphan Buri province, 120 km (75 miles) north of Bangkok, November 1, 2007. Once struggling to make ends meet in pest-infested villages, Thai rice farmers are now making money out of the very scourge that has gnawed at their finances -- rats. Thailand is the world's biggest rice exporter and roasted bandicoot rat has become a popular delicacy at roadside stalls despite costing twice as much as pork or chicken.

I agree the first two posts here need to be saved for posterity.

Sometimes I wish a carried a little notebook/diary around so I could write things like this down, read them back on a rainy day and smile. Doesn't work so well with internet stuff but whatever.

Ironwood's post is like a microcosm of this entire website.

What's strange is my wife read this thread.  She didn't even smile.

It's a joke that's simply for 'us' and NOT FOR YOU.

Sometimes we need reminders that, despite our horrid tempestuous lives and the daily amount of shit and excellence that each of us here suffer in real life, we're all simply a bunch of geeks that like geeky shit.

Glad you all smiled.

My fiancee is great for the geek reminders. I started to explain how cool the Phoenix was in the 80s, the way they killed a main character and rather than having it be a dream sequence or anything, it became a seminal plot of the series. As I started to launch into the whole planet-killer/starjammers thing, she looked at me and said "I really don't care." I told her to tell me that when I got into those kind of geeksplanations, but it still makes me laugh every time she does it.

I do that to my girlfriend/soon-to-be fiance about football which I find hilarious.

Example:

Her: LSU is going for national champion. Woohoo!
Me: (deadpan) I'm so excited I just can't hide it. *goes back to playing a video game.*

Luckily she roleplays and plays video games too and is mostly tolerant of me having zero interest in football or any sport really except ocassionally boxing.
