Title: Looking for an Inventory mod
Post by: Venkman on November 09, 2007, 05:30:44 PM
I've been thinking of building this one myself, but I can't imagine someone hasn't already done it, and better than I could.

I'm sick of my bags. I want a mod that does two things:

  • Puts all of carry items into one window (like OneBag)
  • Shows me these items in an alphabetized list, with icons on the left and quantity on the right (like the Appraiser component of Auctioneer).

I've tried all the usual places but can't find anything like this. Anyone got any leads?

Edit: Did find something over at WoWInterace called Possessions (http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info6443-Possessions2.0.2forWoW2.1.html). Does more than I need and almost everything I want except you can't drag and drop stuff out of it (so no trading) and can't sell to vendors from it. Meanwhile, Sanity2 (http://www.wowace.com/forums/index.php?topic=3084.msg106871#msg106871) does do that but doesn't work without copious errors in earlier versions and some odd dependencies in later ones.

Edit 2: ok, Sanity2 is it. Only one dependency that was store in an illogical space. Nice mod!

AllinOneInventory will also do what you want. I like it a bit better than Sanity but that may just be personal preference speaking.

Question: Why would you want one giant bag?

Lots of people I know use these kind of mods, and I see screen shots of them... I just don't comprehend the appeal at all.

Is there some kind of advantage I'm not seeing?

For me it's the alphabetical list-view thing alone. I've got 18-slot bags with a bunch of trinkets and consumables and am constantly losing new loot drops into some just-now-available bag slot. It's not a show-stopper (I have suffered for almost two years with it ;) ), but it's annoying enough I'd finally had enough. I had a similar problem with SWG so quickly loved the list view thing there.

There are onebag mods that put everything in icon-view into a single bag. That I don't get, unless it's like OneBag where you can sort things by category or something.

But that's why it's an open UI. Something for anyone or build it yourself :)

ArkInventory I think is another very popular mod that does what you want.

I guess that is another thing I Don't understand, how people seem to manage to have inventories so full that loot falls into random slots.

1st Bag is for consumables
2nd Bag is for Weapons/Trinkets/Swap Items
3rd Bag is for Herbs (or Minerals or Linen etc)
4th Bag is for Quest items and BoE Drops
5th Bag is for random sell loot (this being the default 16 slot bag).

A bag of consumables? That's novel.

Bag1 - Quiver
Bag2 - Mining
Bag3 - Random Stuff
Bag4 - Overflow from bag1 & Quest Objects
Bag5 - Food/ Consumables/Trinkets/ Mounts/ Engineering Items/ Fishing Pole/ Various uncooked stuff

Fordel it's nice you're not in the middle of a dozen quests each using items you don't want to get rid of yet but don't have the time to address because they're cockblocks :)

The biggest space user I have, are Apexis shards.

I must have 1500 of the damn things at any given time that I can't do anything with.

Yea, I just don't have anything really to spend them on. Currently pushing 750 of them myself, most sitting in my bank. At least the Banish Crystals don't seem to take up inventory beyond BEM.

Just trash the damn shards once you get to a stack of them.. honestly I wish there were a way to turn them into something more useful but there's not.

Besides the stuff you can already buy and the Ogr'lia potions coming in 2.3, is there anything else coming?

What, what?  I missed something in the notes.

Only thing I know about is under Items:

Quote
Ogri'la Faction Vendor: This vendor now sells potions useable anywhere for a large number of Apexis Shards.

Another nail in the coffin for the alchemy profession.

Could they have screwed up alchemists any worse?  I don't think so.

I do roughly the same thing. What I really want is a mod that will do this for me so I don't have to sort manually.

Be an Engineer.

I am now (again).  Engineering/Alchemy.

Worst combination ever.

But, cheap and plentiful ammo for my hunter.

I wonder if I'll be able to sell anything at all?

The injectors are being made useable by non-engineers.  Those should sell well as everyone loves saving bag space.

The Adamantite Arrow Makers should sell pretty well, too.  A very nice DPS upgrade for folks who don't want to blow the cash on Kara-faction Arrows for a lot cheaper than the 1g/stack they cost. .

The arrow/shell makers are why I dropped herbs to pick up engineering.  Not to sell them, but to be able to make them myself for my own use.  I guess I figured that all hunters would pick engineering up but maybe not.

Lots of hunters have engy, sure. However, I know just as many that have Leather working/ skinning for the LW-only Netherscale armor, and a number who have only gathering professions so they can make bank and buy other stuff they might need.

You should be able to sell some Alchy stuff too. But yea, bad for business as an Engy in general until 2.3. I finally started grinding up Mining again. Was stuck at 250 since before BC, and lemme tell ya, it sucks having to circle Searing Gorge endless without a flying mount. But at least there's still a Thorium market on my server.

With as much of a sink Engineering is, I'd do it all again for the Flying Machine. That thing is just pure insane awesome. Exactly as I imagined it would be, including the hover mode.

Back on topic again, after spending two weeks with my desired alphabetical list and filtering Sanity2, I've dropped it. It's actually become easier for me to lose stuff because I'm not watching where it visually lands in my bags. Two years of conditioning I guess, but I'm back to the old way.

The MOST awesome thing about the Engy mount is the way it sputters and fails while flying.  It doesn't fail and kill you, but it does a dippy thing like the engine died.. it's hilarious.

Oh, and the epic one has the Hula Girl on the dashboard.  Rofls.

I worked my faction up to revered with consortium and am doing gangbusters business selling the seaforium charges for the mounts. I guess a lot of people just hate factioning but I'm making about 10g each atm from items I can make with vendor sold ingredients.

Heh, and here I thought every Engineer had already put together the parts lists by now. I mean, what else have we had to look forward to for the last few content patches?

Good thinking.
