Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: NiX on November 09, 2007, 02:10:22 AM I'm still unsure if I'll pick up Mass Effect, but I'll definitely be getting Assassin's Creed and Rock Band.
Also, Ghost Squad? Wha? When did this happen? Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: Jain Zar on November 09, 2007, 02:24:21 AM And how many will actually be finished huh?
And the only one I might want is Mass Effect, depending on if there is an EA logo on the case or not. Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: schild on November 09, 2007, 05:25:18 AM How many will be finished on time? Huh? Whu? Almost all of these have gone gold already.
Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: Riggswolfe on November 09, 2007, 06:19:04 AM I'm only getting Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect myself. And if I have any financial issues between now and next week it'll only be Mass Effect.
Kane & Lynch I'll probably get in January, if it gets good reviews. Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: murdoc on November 09, 2007, 06:59:51 AM I already have Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed on pre-order and have no intentions of changing that. I have a wait-and-see attitude for Kane & Lynch as well and I'm still debating whether or not I get Rock Band. I have a couple of buddies who are definitely getting it, so I'll try it out there first. Problem I have is that a game basically built around co-op won't get a ton of play in my house.

Most of those are console games from Major Developers and a lot of the reviews coming in are 8s and 9s and above for a lot of those titles. That at LEAST implies that they are in a state of being finished. It doesn't say anything about their quality though since game reviewers for whatever reason seem to be broken. - Yeg, Galaxy is out next week. Played it the other day. It sure is Mario. Fanbois will fucking love it, but that's about it. Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: Yegolev on November 09, 2007, 08:12:30 AM I'm getting it. I just thought I was going to be able to put it off. The big question, as if it mattered for the purchase, is: is it better than Sunshine?
Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: schild on November 09, 2007, 08:14:34 AM Quote is it better than Sunshine? Can't answer that. But is it as good as SMB3 or World? Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: schild on November 09, 2007, 08:19:15 AM Quote Alex McMoneyhats from Gamespot says it's the best one since Mario 64. Mario 64 was a revelation for like 2 weeks. So that's not really saying much. Which also means, he agrees with me, it's not as good as SMW or SMB3. Which is to say, it shouldn't be getting 9s. Thats a title wait 2 weeks and see if I ever saw one. UT3 same thing after that horrendous Beta Demo. Until I read reviews telling me more about the single player. This game is simply Epic cashing in on the name of Unreal Tournament. The online browser has many flaws Epic isn't telling us what they are changing, Not many are fans of Gamespy and its being shoved on us. For the PC its a console browser, not happy with that. No matter how much of a fan I am of UT games. It will kill me to buy this and support this game. Fuck you Mark Rein, Fuck you Epic Games, Fuck you Cliffy. UT games were never known for its single player game, and the Beta Demo just showed me its more of the same UT4 online play, I'm not excited. Kane & Lynch simply don't see the appeal of supporting a IP like that, rather support something that is similiar but not out and out placing you in the role of a complete villian in a modern day culture. Blacksite Area 51, I really like the idea, really will appreciate the graphics, just hope its a complete game without it feeling very clunky like the original. Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: Trippy on November 09, 2007, 05:53:20 PM Why would you buy a UT game for it's single-player mode?
Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: AngryGumball on November 09, 2007, 05:56:07 PM Because I was never good enough to play it with Godlike bots, and I found playing with bots close enough enjoyable as playing it online.
I enjoyed UT2k4 single player ladder style to win the tournament. Even how shallow it was without a story, but it built up to you winning. I also enjoy the IP universe and would like to see if fleshed out more with actual stories. STALKER has a very hard intro to combat ("And for you first real mission, go an clear out a farmhouse full of bandits who are better armed and armoured than you. Here is some cannon fodder to assist you.") as well. I agree with geldon 2.0 - it's not that complicated and is a huge disappointment when you hit some of the walls that make this a pretty linear FPS narrative. The atmosphere is good up until the last few "kill everyone in the corridors / map" levels. If you do get STALKER, wait until the prequel version comes out and / or consider getting one of the many mod patches out their to improve the experience. Extra inventory space and refined graphics FTW. The game has an incredible atmosphere that creeps you the fuck out in certain parts. Especially when you fight the zooming-in-your-face enemies the first time, or are exploring pitch-black underground bunkers full of things that will rip your throat out given half the chance. Shit. I have managed to keep myself completely in the dark about Assassin's Creed. I'm not even sure what kind of game it is. I saw a commercial that made it look GTA/Sandboxy. If so, WIN. It's my title of the week, and Mass Effect is going to be insane after that. I've also kept myself mostly in the dark on that game, so I'm going to get as much surprise and emotional impact out of it as possible. I use Hellgate as an example of where this behavior can backfire. But my Gadar (Game Radar) has been pretty spot on for finding premium titles without reading anything about them or seeing many previews / spoilers. GTA: SA and Call of Duty 4 are recent examples with where I went in with little information and was genuinely surprised and had intense entertainment and enjoyment as a result. Edit: And FUCK FUCK FUCKITY FUCK that these games come out right after Call of Duty 4 that has the staying power to keep me going for at least a month or two. Crysis is uniquely PC, which might be why PC gamer is overly excited about it. FF XII: Revenant Wings is on the Nintendo DS.
This many games at once used to bother me, but then I got in the habit of not having to buy them all on release day. GameFly makes anything not on the PC able to be rented long after it's no longer in the stores (http://www.gamefly.com/products/detail.asp?pid=103260). That leaves the only games worth buying the ones made for the PC that aren't going to hit the bargain bin in the next 6 months. HG:L and the Orange Box were the first time since I graduated HS that I bought two games within 30 days of each other. * = these all sound like they could be PC fps titles w/ storyline, which really confuses me. I guess if they pop up on steam I'll see the advertisement but I can't believe people play storyline fps games. Survival horror was sort of fun way back when and R4 was amazing I'll give them that but for real? Storyline? Heard of a book? I've never met a game with voice acting and me watching in-game characters go through stupid /emote conversations where I didn't want to punch some fucker in the face. I think this is the first post in a while I've wanted to kick in the teeth. That was just horrible to look at, never mind the content. Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: schild on November 12, 2007, 02:58:55 PM GameFly makes anything not on the PC able to be rented long after it's no longer in the stores (http://www.gamefly.com/products/detail.asp?pid=103260). That leaves the only games worth buying the ones made for the PC that aren't going to hit the bargain bin in the next 6 months. Rez got reprinted twice. ONCE AGAIN, Don't post unless you have your facts straight. Rez is a dime a dozen now. And it's coming out on XBLA. Also I tried to play a MG game once, god the whole stealth "genre" is fucking weak. At least the Sam Fisher ones were a little bit less stupid. I've got no love for MGS, but seriously, did you actually play Splinter Cell: Shooting out every goddamn lightbulb in the game? Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: NiX on November 12, 2007, 03:24:26 PM I've got no love for MGS, but seriously, did you actually play Splinter Cell: Shooting out every goddamn lightbulb in the game? Hey now! Double Agent wasn't bad for that. And now that they're making him homeless it'll be even easier. We all know everyone ignores homeless people by default. :oh_i_see: Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: Hoax on November 12, 2007, 04:01:51 PM Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops+ - console amirite? Also I tried to play a MG game once, god the whole stealth "genre" is fucking weak. At least the Sam Fisher ones were a little bit less stupid. I've got no love for MGS, but seriously, did you actually play Splinter Cell: Shooting out every goddamn lightbulb in the game? Here's my primer on stealther games. Splinter Cell: Start game, sort of too long opening, l2p, sneak around, some fun to be had sneaking, shoot someone, mission failed, sneak somemore, realize this is a gametype that makes me wait for AI pathing to hit certain points, get bored, quit. MGS <whatever>: Start game, Loooooooong opening, l2p, get to level, move ten steps, fucking radio tranmission, long ass conversation, go ten more steps, long ass conversation, keep going, another fucking tranmission up in my shit, hit x to skip the hell out of it, realize I don't know what to do now, don't care, quit. I'm sure there are lots of people who love these games, right on, I will be the first to say I have a limited limited scope when it comes to gaming. Would have been diagnosed with ADHD like a motherfucker in kindergarten had I been born just 8 years later or gone to public schools as a little tyke. I personally can't stand the conventions at all. I don't mind some stealthy shit, or enemies so scary you need to be clever about killing them or run away when they notice you. Fucking sneaking all the damn time all day because otherwise I auto-fail? Slow gameplay is slow. But yeah thanks for pointing out that clearly MGS > Splinter Cell, because I care. Final Thought: Shooting lightbulbs > shooting nothing. Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: Sky on November 13, 2007, 06:46:51 AM Hm. From that list I'll probably only be getting GH3, mostly to get my girlfriend into it. Otherwise, I'd skip that, too. I've got a few cds that strip guitars and vocals that are more fun and actually useful.
I'll grab Crysis at some point, but I don't have a burning desire to get it soon. Good game and lots of fun. Mass Effect I'll get on the pc when Bioware finally gets around to releasing it in 2015. Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: Sky on November 14, 2007, 06:24:15 AM I love my fiancee. Overheard last night: "We should eat out. If you cook, you won't have time to pick up GH3 before the blues jam."
That's Sky for "keeper". Wonder if I should bring the GH3 controller to the jam :-P Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: Riggswolfe on November 14, 2007, 06:43:41 AM Assassin's Creed Assassin's creed has been getting mixed reviews so far. IGN gave it a 7 something and gamespot gave it over a 9. I'm still picking it up today though! Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: schild on November 14, 2007, 06:50:07 AM AC is a love-hate game from all the people I know that have played it. I love assassins and I love killing more. And climbing. Well, I like climbing enough.
I'm pissed there hasn't been announcement about the Day Kane & Lynch hits Steam. Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: MrHat on November 14, 2007, 07:00:25 AM Jesus Fuck.
I have my video card in it's box here at work. It's taking my enormously large inner will power to not go home, install the vid. card, drive to Gamestop and pick up Crysis. Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: schild on November 14, 2007, 10:17:25 AM Oh shi-

Title: Re: The Next Two Weeks Invade My Motherfucking Post by: Miasma on November 16, 2007, 10:23:55 AM As I picked up Crysis I noticed the SimSociety box and almost picked it up too, thankfully I resisted and read some reviews. People are not happy, at all. I guess they removed some of the more "complicated" ideas like zoning and taxes...
