I had the same thought on the spelling, VD. I was then prompted to beat my head against the wall when I pointed the error out to coworkers. They felt that "exacerbates warning" meant it caused the person to write the letter in warning. When I pointed out 'exacerbate' doesn't mean 'prompt' or 'cause' they insisted I was just looking for problems. Remember kids, a 4th grade reading level is your target. You can tell when the editor is on vacation and the writers all get hilarious in the anonymous posts (like the crime blotter, punny beyond belief). And there are a couple regular letter-writers that start out with some hot-button issue and then just start shooting off at everything. There was one a couple weeks ago that started out about needing a dress code in school and ended up touching on Iraq, global warming, the housing bubble, it was golden. And it wasn't long, maybe three paragraphs. Just mid-sentence turnarounds in logic that no sane mind could forge.
