Title: Offical - Release Notes Book 11 Post by: Mrbloodworth on October 22, 2007, 08:00:09 AM The update is huge. Rather than post things here, here is a link (http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Release_Notes_Book_11).
EDIT: I do want to point out this one Quote Metalworker and Tailoring * Over 400 new armor recipes for Dwarven, Elven, and Westernesse variants of existing craftable armor can now be found in treasure. These new recipes add a ton of visual variety to the already large list of craftable armor types. Thats nice. There is a LFG channel and the tool is quite useful (Not sure what you mean by global), i don't know what it was like when you played..but its quite handy with allot of options. As far as server merges, my server is nicely packed (brandywine) Title: Re: Offical - Release Notes Book 11 Post by: Numtini on October 22, 2007, 12:55:28 PM I reupped friday before last lured in by the housing, but I only lasted a little past the weekend. My account's still open, but it's pending cancel. I went through a bunch of solo content and was back to staring at the group quests without being able to find a group, which was why I'd quit back in June. My tolerance for sitting in a zone doing nothing but shouting in LFF is fairly low. (And I'm a minstrel on Landroval, which people say is populated but looked like a ghost town to me.)
And by global I mean one LFF channel for the entire world. Right now, it's limited to one zone, so if you have group quests in Fornost, Evendim, and Trollshaws, you're basically limited to looking for a group for one of them with the LFF channel. I've never gotten a bite on the LFF tool personally. Really really like the game. Reupping reminded me of how good it is in some ways. But also why I quit. Ill group with you, i'm on brandywine... Names Trucegore (26 LM) or Grimst (lvl 14 hunter) I have gotten hits in the LFF, and i believe that the search tool is global, if you uncheck something..i don't recall. I play with a group of friends and normally don't do a lot of PUG's, but i do every once and a while. Title: Re: Offical - Release Notes Book 11 Post by: Hound on October 24, 2007, 02:18:02 PM Doing my update now. As far as the grouping thing, if anyone needs a group on Silverlode, give Clapton/Veuxdeux a telll . If I don't have a alt handy at the right lvl we have a fairly large guild of mature players and someone will be lvling a alt at almost any give time.
Title: Re: Offical - Release Notes Book 11 Post by: KyanMehwulfe on December 27, 2007, 02:55:03 AM I do want to point out this one Any feedback on this? I'm curious just how many new visual armor models were added...Quote Metalworker and Tailoring * Over 400 new armor recipes for Dwarven, Elven, and Westernesse variants of existing craftable armor can now be found in treasure. These new recipes add a ton of visual variety to the already large list of craftable armor types. Thats nice. I've resubbed a couple times since release but I typically just casually play for a week or two more, get bored with questing, and quit (I think I'm Lv31 or 34 now on my Champ). But what I always did enjoy was the visual element of the game. The crafting animations; the landscapes and terrain of The Shire. But most of all, all the nice heavy armor models. If they've really added a lot of new models I could likely get a fun couple weeks out of it again. My money's worth in the least. Title: Re: Offical - Release Notes Book 11 Post by: Tannhauser on December 30, 2007, 08:22:16 AM I just re-upped, forgot how gorgeous a game it was (terrain wise mostly). I did a group instance this morning and it was good stuff, too bad my comp is so old, I really want to turn up the graphics. I'm dying to see DX10 on this.
I'm a 41 Minstrel on Brandywine, Imrahan, holler if you need anything. I don't know how long I'll last, I get frustrated with my old comp and the poor performance I may quit again. Thank goodness they have added more solo quests, thats what made me cancel last time. Title: Re: Offical - Release Notes Book 11 Post by: Tarami on January 02, 2008, 09:26:39 AM I just thought I would say that I can be found on the EU shard, on Laurelin, as Miryalin, just in case any Europeans would like to say hi.
And yes. It is a pretty game with some solid fun and quite a few friends have been surprised with how decent it actually is. In spite of not being its more accessible and older cousin. :-) Or perhaps because. What are you saying here? Title: Re: Offical - Release Notes Book 11 Post by: Tarami on January 02, 2008, 01:18:29 PM What are you saying here? I'm talking bias and that in defiance of my friends thinking that WoW is the holy grail of gaming, they've been mildly impressed with LotRO. :-) It is not a view I share, I might add, as I personally prefer LotRO to WoW. But each to their own...Title: Re: Offical - Release Notes Book 11 Post by: Soukyan on January 02, 2008, 01:28:14 PM I find that LoTRO is fairly well done on the immersion front, but I take it one step further and play the movies on a second PC while playing LoTRO. But, I'm biased with Tarami.

Title: Re: Offical - Release Notes Book 11 Post by: Tannhauser on January 02, 2008, 03:26:34 PM Er, I'm on Arkenstone.
I'm a big WoW fan, but there are a few things LOTRO does better for me. For instance healing isn't nearly as stressful as it is in WoW. I also like the content additions (though I just now finished Tomb of Elendil), they come much much faster than WoW (Outland is meh to me). There are a few things about LOTRO that annoy me, but I am really looking forward to Moria, Rohan, Gondor etc. Title: Re: Offical - Release Notes Book 11 Post by: NiX on January 02, 2008, 03:39:06 PM I just wish there was some indication of when those places will be showing up. I'm kinda tired of Eriador.
Title: Re: Offical - Release Notes Book 11 Post by: Tarami on January 02, 2008, 04:25:56 PM Its cool, i just didn't know how to read that, accessibility is really good with LOTRO... Guess i need the green to guide me. I agree that LotRO got a high level of accessibility, but it's more humble than WoW. In WoW you get more bang for the buck as you level up, get blues and generally you power up much steeper than you do in LotRO. This gives a kind of accessibility too, in the form of instant gratification. LotRO's charm (at least, the one I'm finding) is more deeply hidden than it is in WoW, in WoW it's more apparent very early on what's the primary hook in the game - gear. LotRO lacks the same kind of early hook, so I'd say, for better and worse, that WoW is quite a bit more accessible than LotRO is.But I don't mind, at all. In LotRO I go back in zones and finish quests just because they're cutely and sensibly written and offer a bit of decent plot. A favourite is the old hobbit that's courting to the hobbit widow, where you end up running back and forth to relay his invitations and only to get the reply that there's no chance in hell anything will ever happen. :-) I just wish there was some indication of when those places will be showing up. I'm kinda tired of Eriador. Rohan would be awesome and I think LotRO will have a decent subscriber base for a while longer, so it'll come sooner or later... now I just want book 12, first and foremost.Title: Re: Offical - Release Notes Book 11 Post by: Tarami on January 02, 2008, 11:22:35 PM I find that LoTRO is fairly well done on the immersion front, but I take it one step further and play the movies on a second PC while playing LoTRO. In a place like F13, the following comment might be subject to plenty of finger-pointing and jeering, but; Recently I watched The Two Towers at a friend's, and at one point Gandalf comes charging down the bank towards Helm's Deep with the Rohirrim. The charge is backlit by the rising sun and I went "Oh my God, Light of the Rising Dawn!" (an LM spell, the ion cannon :) and somehow, really got pulled into the whole sense of me being Good and them being Bad. I really felt my elven LM really was this small person struggling against the Forces of Evil in Dark Times. It was an awesome feeling, gentlemen and something I still think about when playing the game. Turbine must have done something right when one can connect the movies and game to that extent. :-) Edit; Crud, sorry about double-post, didn't realise. Well, not the most trafficked thread in the place, atleast. Be able to connect the game, movies, and books, to me increases my enjoyment of the game tenfold. |
