Title: Wiiboard Post by: Yegolev on October 10, 2007, 01:50:49 PM I'm reading that a Wii update this morning allows certain USB keyboards to be used. No list on N's web site of which ones might work. I'm wondering if this means anything as far as releases, or if it's just a lagging feature for the browser.

Also, let's you type in those Friend Codes 400% faster. Friend Codes not included. Title: Re: Wiiboard Post by: Yegolev on October 10, 2007, 02:10:59 PM 400% faster if you have some place to put a wired keyboard and don't have to switch to the pointer. With my setup, a keyboard would be in a terrible place to use along with the pointer.
Title: Re: Wiiboard Post by: HaemishM on October 10, 2007, 02:20:35 PM But you can post on message boards from your Wi!!!!!
There are wireless USB keyboards out there, so it isn't a total cockup. And it's not a bad thing to have. And just think, you might be able to play Meatplace games from your couch on your Wii. Also, let's you type in those Friend Codes 400% faster. Friend Codes not included. Nobody buys a Wii to play online. At least I hope not. Then again, I hardly ever play my 360 online. Friends list is just people I have to outscore on Pac Man CE is all. Title: Re: Wiiboard Post by: Yegolev on October 11, 2007, 07:57:08 AM I'm just confused since, of the three consoles (let's pretend they are all apples) the one that needs a keyboard the least would be the Wii. Using the pointer on a virtual keyboard is one of the few uses for it that makes sense. I wish I could use a Guncon to type on the PS3, or especially the 360 since I actually tend to write messages on there from time to time. For the Wii, it just seems silly.
Title: Re: Wiiboard Post by: HaemishM on October 11, 2007, 08:41:24 AM The Wii has an Internet Channel, the Wii has messaging, the Wii has the Everybody Votes Channel where you can submit questions. The most important use for me would be the Internet channel. You already have a mouse with the Wiimote, just add the keyboard so you aren't typing URL's, message boards posts, etc. with a virtual keyboard.
Will it get used? Likely not that much, and I don't see any games coming out that boast of keyboard support. But since it was probably fairly trivial to add, I don't see why they didn't earlier. Title: Re: Wiiboard Post by: Yegolev on October 11, 2007, 02:09:51 PM This is as good a thread as any to mention that the WiiFit board has a maximum weight of 300 pounds. Stolen from maxconsole.com:

Because I said that would be the weight limit after seeing it. In reality, it's probably around 250. Title: Re: Wiiboard Post by: Yegolev on October 11, 2007, 02:13:23 PM Who knows? Is anyone in Japan over 136 kilos other than sumo? People that large should not use a Wii for fear of losing their Wiimote under a titty.
Title: Re: Wiiboard Post by: schild on October 11, 2007, 02:18:20 PM You know. There's just no explanation needed for how ridiculous that is.
Title: Re: Wiiboard Post by: Alkiera on October 12, 2007, 08:07:34 AM You know. There's just no explanation needed for how ridiculous that is. What, a weight limit on a device you stand on? Heck, most scales cap out around 300-350. Plenty of exercise equipment has similar limits... We own one of those large workout balls (I use it as a desk chair) and it has a 300 lb weight limit. Frankly, 300 lbs is a lot of weight to be carrying around. If you're not in the NFL, or a pro weightlifter/body builder, you're too heavy to do most things. Besides, I'm sure it won't take too long for a third party compatible device for 300+ lb people. They can call it the WiiNotSoFit. p.s. I make no claims as to my own fitness. I could stand to lose 20-30 lbs, and I'm nowhere near 300. -- Alkiera Title: Re: Wiiboard Post by: cmlancas on October 12, 2007, 09:01:34 AM This is as good a thread as any to mention that the WiiFit board has a maximum weight of 300 pounds. Stolen from maxconsole.com: your picture here It just got whacked. What was there? :o Title: Re: Wiiboard Post by: Yegolev on October 12, 2007, 09:08:59 AM Just the WiiFit cover, had a "136 kilo" thingy. Not important, I'm just trying to stir up shit.
