Title: So what is everyone doing for Halloween?
Post by: Mrbloodworth on September 25, 2007, 09:47:56 AM
Any one have any plans yet?

I know it kinda early, but my and the little lady have already gone to Bush gardens "Hollow-scream" event, its kinda fun. We also frequent some of the "Haunted hayrides" in the area..good times. I think i enjoy the "Mom and pop" like events more than the Duff gardens one.

I think this year, ill just wear my costume from last year, as i don't want my girl to get all crazy while making me a new one (Like last year), heh.

Someone took on-call from me so I can enjoy myself.  Halloween is the wedding anniversary but I think the proper gift is a quiet evening.

The boy decided he wants to be Thomas the Tank Engine for Halloween.  Last year he was Mario and I was Luigi.  I'll keep Halloween '06 close to my heart, no matter what happens from here on out.

You at least going to watch a spooky movie? Like, how candy corn is made.

Hmm. I suspect my child will be a ninja this year. The only reason I have for suspecting this is that his costume for the last 6 years (IE: half his life) has been some form of ninja. Teenage Mutant Ninja, Scoprian Ninja, Classic Ninja, Zombie Ninja, some form of Grim Reaper Ninja -- I'm hoping for Pirate Ninja, really.

Taking him to our local city Halloween festival is pretty much it. :)

I suspect I'll answer the door a couple of times and hand out some wee boxes of rock hard raisins that have been hanging around for a year, and then laugh at their disappointed little faces.   At around 8, I'll turn off the outside light and yell abuse at anyone who dares knock on the door.  If anyone who knocks looks older than 12, I'll call the police.  So... pretty much the usual.

When I was a kid, one of the people in our neighborhood was a dentist and he handed out toothbrushes and toothpaste every Halloween.  His house always got TP'd and egged... he never did learn his lesson.

Halloween? It's September, you missed Halloween by about 3 weeks.  It's Chrismas season now, bitch!  Start hauling out those decorations and putting red and green on everything!
Yeah, I only wish I was being sarcastic.  The local stores have a small X-mas section already and some fuckhead one street over had his Christmas lights all over his house and turned on last night.

As to the actual question, the usual.  Taking the kids up to my sister's neighborhood which is about 10x bigger than mine and running around with their cousins.  This year's theme is "tourture Merusk's daughter" because she made a deal with mom last year.  She got to be the Grim Reaper, and this year mom picks her costume.  It's going to be a princess in a frilly pink dress so her brother can be a dragon or a knight.. don't know which yet.

My wife is evil.

I'll probably buy like 4 bags of candy corn and play TF2 all night. Then yell at kids to "stay off my lawn".

Oh man.. I HATE that.  Yeah there's a couple Christmas ornament shops already opening at our mall... I don't need to see a Christmas tree before Thanksgiving.  I mean there's two big holidays still before December even comes around.

I'm sure I'll be watching TV and being disappointed that kids don't come around our neighbor for trick-or-treating at all, being forced instead to attend family-safe Fall Carnivals that aren't devil-y in the least.

Only part about Halloween is that it's an excuse for girls to dress slutty for the day/weekend.

If I can get a new PC built in time, I'll be Hell-a-gatin'

Maybe its just me, but i cant believe you typed the first sentence (and its true)...and then the second one is what you will be doing (in light of the first).

Heh..

maybe you should find one of those girls, in costume, to come play with you at least?, maybe?

BTW, this is one of my most favorite hallo-days. I have a friend on the west cost thay goes all out and converts his entire 2 car garage, and about 80% of his yard into a fright house...Fun time man, fun times.

Answer: Married.

5 years ago, Halloween reeked of awesomeness. Now, it's all about letting the wife give out candy to the little kids so she coo at their costumes.

I retract my previous statements.

RIP brother, RIP.

(I'm teasing you BTW)

Thankfully, my girl is all about the holiday like me, and we enjoy the dress up. Maybe you should make an exception this year, and go out! Nothing like sitting in a highfalutin restaurant in some upscale, but undead costumes..they technically cant complain, as your outfit adheres to the dress code =)

Correct. But i believe according to the by laws of marriage, that its just fine if its your wife in said costume... But i'm not married, so take that for what its worth.

We typically dress up, and goto the trellis , and order its finest desert, "Death by chocolate". See the theme?

Fuck.

I love Halloween.  Definitely my favorite holiday of the year.

I go all out.  Costumes, decorations, parties.  Go to every haunted house/hayride type thing that I can.  Watch all the classic horror movies.

(And of course, Hellgate.)

A friend of mine throws a huge bash every year, each one better than the last. he goes way over the top, spends tons of cash on decorations... it's his favorite holiday. Costumes required. He's got 3 or 4 prizes, but this year's grand prize in the costume contest is a middle of the line hd-dvd player and 5 or 6 movies. Needless to say, competition is fierce.

Halloween is always pretty cool with my family. I think we will just be hitting up all the haunted houses int he local area then driving out to the big haunted house in the farming area. I am also going to buy some more of the horror movies I have been wanting to own so the boy can see them, then probably start working on the boys Halloween costume about mid October. This year is an easy one, my son is going to be Terry Bogard from the Fatal Fury/King of Fighters games. Much easier than the last years, he was Cobra Commander a couple years back and I really had to put some work into that costume. Close to the 31s we do the pumpkins, we usually do 2, then we will finish it all off with the usual trick or treating thing. We have already decorated and everything.

As I tell my fiancee: I'm not dead, I'm monogamous. Because I am committed to her doesn't mean every other female on the planet suddenly became ugly.

Back when I was a partygoer, I had one costume every year. People actually looked forward to it, it was a tradition. Of course, the 'costume' part was almost nothing:

It was the amazingly not-pc character acting that made it. And beer.

Oh, my wife and I have the same agreement. She constantly watches me watch a girl go by and loudly comments 'I'm RIGHT here!'  I just don't do things like Halloween pubs crawls, etc. anymore where slutty costumes abound.

And I really really want to play Hellgate:London

Night before Halloween, yearly party at my buddies place. Day of, sleep it off. Wake up, wait for the midnight release of Hellgate and quite possibly never return to society again. Oh and I always watch that shitty Halloween movie every year on TBS. The one where the kids put on the masks and watch a commercial and it turns their heads into snakes etc. It's so cheesy it's beautiful.

The day before Halloween I will go with a friend and maybe the rest of my tabletop games group to a haunted house thingie.
Halloween itself I may dress up as I have half a costume right now and go to my cousin's massively boring but nicely decorated Halloween party for an hour or two.
(i'm starting a DONT WASTE MONEY DUMBASS lifestyle which limits how much i permit myself to spend per month on useless but generally entertaining stuff.  Videogames and silly Halloween things are in this category.)
Nobody ever comes to my house for candy and being on a diet since December  (Its working well though it makes me crankier than normal..) means its for the best I don't even buy any lest it be eaten in a matter of hours and whatnot...

I will then come home and probably play Galactic Assault, Dawn of War, Links 2003, or another video/computer game to be determined while listening to MSNBC.   I may watch South Park/Mythbusters on DVR later in the night depending on new episode availability.

Edit: And it is on Wednesday so I may go play Warhammer 40K beforehand too.  Itll give me an excuse to show up at my cousin's party later and leave earlier if its dead like last time.  And a reason to not finish my costume till next year.  My sword, gauntlets, amulet, and makeup should be fine till next year. I haven't been able to find a proper plasma pistol type weapon for my outfit anyways, and my airsoft guns aren't usable with my gauntlets..

In the US, that's what happens the night before Halloween.  Well, at least more than usual.  Mischief Night.  Of course, I consider well fed kids begging for food to be sort of strange, too.  At least in the UK, they go straight for the wallet.  Much smarter! Penny for the guy?

This obviously means you go as a cowboy or man-devil. There's a commercial on TV where these four guys go to a halloween party as an exact companion to four girls. I'm sure it's on youtube someplace.

Halloween is the day after my kitty has his manhood destroyed so whether or not we turn off all the front lights and ignore any knocking depend on him.  If we do answer the door, we'll be handing out my usual goody bags for a couple of hours.

So I guess I'm going to a costume party. I need a white kung-fu gi, white contacts, and a rice farmer hat. Help a brutha out.
See my post above. That's all you really need. And maybe some improv chops.

Don't need to improv. I AM Asian. Which would make it even funnier.  :-D

I'd rather join my son in wearing a Thomas the Tank Engine costume.

It only occured to me yesterday that I have to come up with an anniversary gift, so I'm totally ignoring the whole begging-for-candy thing as of today.

Local comic book shop is sponsoring a zombie dance at a club in downtown Orlando.  For $5, you show up at the comic shop beforehand and they turn  you into a zombie, then get you into the club sans cover & line.

Update: Went to party, it appeared sucky, older out of shape women in catwoman outfits with horrible New Jersey accents.

Was getting ready to leave, then 4 mid-20s girls came in:

Sexy nurse
Sexy army person
Sexy border patrol person (seriously)
Sex I don't know what, Lillith from Darkstalkers almost

Playing beer pong with sexy busty nurse was a good time...drat the ball fell on the floor again.

So yeah, going was the right move.

Went to a party yesterday, my costume was a homeless flasher with a massive fake penis that raised on its own and shot silly string (made it my self and it was a motherbitch), so I had lots of chicks beating me off all night.

So it was like any other day ( :rimshot: ).

I am every dentist's wet dream and am going in to get my teeth cleaned Wednesday morning. Then I'm getting acupuncture that I don't need from my friend Shinichi so he can bill some dollars to my insurance provider (he's a licensed practitioner, not just some dude with needles). An acupuncturist can always find something wrong with your chi, so that's technically not fraud, right? Besides, I'm pretty sure I have way too much yang. I have teeth marks on my tongue, and my BM is all ill. I probably do need acupuncture, come to think of it.

The last decade or so we either get zero snow or massive ice storms that paralyze the state.

I'll probably take my daughter to the zoo or some kind of school function. And cry a little that I no longer get to enjoy Halloween the right way. With alcohol and loose women if I had my choice.

My wife had said, after I asked her what to get her for the anniversary, that she only wanted to sleep.  This has been done and will be done again before the week ends, but this morning she asked me if I got her a card.  That would be a "no".  Even worse, today she sends me a someecard.  Good thing I don't care about constantly being in trouble.

Ok, having experienced Halloween with a kid (who was old enough, 3,  to know what was going on and enjoy himself) my passionate hatred of Halloween has lessened to a degree.

I think he inherited my logical mind as he couldn't figure out why we would go out to get candy when we had a big huge bowl of it right in our house. It proved quite a conundrum for him.  Either that or he inherited my laziness.

It wasn't a conundrum for my three-year-old since he loves getting stuff.  His phrase for the evening: "Happy Halloween!  Smell my feet!"  I love it that he can say these things and people laugh instead of get angry.
