GarageGames to be acquired by Barry Diller's InterActiveCorp (http://f13.net/index.php?itemid=598)



The Wall Street Journal is reporting (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB119007633146730597.html?mod=yahoo_hs&ru=yahoo) that Barry Diller's InterActiveCorp (IAC) will announce today that it has acquired a majority stake in GarageGames (http://www.garagegames.com/), developing browser-based 3D games for its upcoming InstantAction.com gaming site.

A couple of quick follow-ups:

--We've been operating under this new arrangement for several months now, and it's given us a lot more capability to focus on our core values: helping indies make leaps into successful game development.
--We're on a programmed media release track now--this is just the beginning of a lot of announcements over the next several weeks. Stay tuned!

Sounds cool. Will be interesting to see the custom browser plugin. Barrier to entry for the lose :( You plugging into Shockwave at all or it's 100% custom?

I can't go into details right now, but additional information will be forthcoming.

I can say that we've not historically done much in the way of direct integration with Flash, Shockwave, Java, or related systems.
