Title: Um... okay. A Hip-Hop RPG by Master P and Seth Green. Post by: Nonentity on September 04, 2007, 12:06:20 PM http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/home_entertainment/games/e3i61cdc71247ef46a763e7d85e4297d345
Quote The video game world is bringing together the unlikely duo of rapper Master P and actor Seth Green. Master P's P Miller Enterprises is partnering on the development of an original hip-hop-themed role-playing game with Green and Matthew Senreich of Stoopid Monkey Prods. ("Robot Chicken") and ShadowMachine Films ("Moral Orel"). "Play the Industry" will enable gamers to enter a 3-D world and then work their way through up to stardom either as an athlete, power broker, hip-hop artist or other character. Many of the details are being worked out, including whether this will be a disc-based or online-only game. But Senreich suggested that the final product likely will be more akin to "The Sims," the popular online experience from Electronic Arts, than a fighting or shooting game. "You can play agent, you can play mogul, you play all sorts of different characters," Senreich said of "Industry." Although in its early stages, Stoopid Monkey and ShadowMachine already are working on a script for the game, talking with developers about taking on the project and lining up financing. The partners hope to have a developer on board in the next several months and a release by late 2009. "We really want to take the time and make sure we do this right," Senreich added. "But the good thing we have going into this is we are developing the creative ahead of time, and we're very close to having that up and running." Master P was the one who approached ShadowMachine principals Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico with the game concept. Campodonico said they were immediately interested -- and not just because hip-hop and gaming have proved to be such a solid combination in titles such as "Def Jam: Vendetta" and "50 Cent: Bulletproof." "Master P is at the forefront of so many new things, including putting new 'clean' albums that are not derogatory and don't have cursing and that sort of stuff," Campodonico said. The partners also are taking a broader long-term approach, noting that while the game is the first goal, they hope to migrate the "Industry" concept to multiple platforms, including a motion picture, reality television show and clothing line. WHAT THE FUCK. Title: Re: Um... okay. A Hip-Hop RPG by Master P and Seth Green. Post by: HaemishM on September 04, 2007, 12:11:53 PM Does not compute.

Is it still considered Hip Hop when they do that?Title: Re: Um... okay. A Hip-Hop RPG by Master P and Seth Green. Post by: Azazel on September 04, 2007, 02:46:36 PM I have far more faith in Seth Green than in any of these other people.. but that wide-open concept is going to fuck their wallets in the arse. Unless they get someone else to pay for it.

Title: Re: Um... okay. A Hip-Hop RPG by Master P and Seth Green. Post by: UnSub on September 04, 2007, 08:15:36 PM I can see this working as a social space game. Throw in lots of mini-games, non-combat PVP (rap battles, athletic contents etc), allow things to be bought via RMT while letting people customise their avatar, cars and living spaces.
It's not that this idea isn't going to work, it's a question of whether it will beat out all the other social space games in attracting eyeballs. Title: Re: Um... okay. They could shove in a Larry Bird Vs Dr J-esque mini game to fill that gap. Title: Re: Um... okay. A Hip-Hop RPG by Master P and Seth Green. Post by: cmlancas on September 05, 2007, 04:39:23 AM We should hurry up and put out the forum wars game. It seems you can get anything published nowadays with a big name or two tacked onto it.

It's hard to to get much credit for your angsty view of how oppressed you are when you are young white and free in America. Title: Re: Um... okay. A Hip-Hop RPG by Master P and Seth Green. I try to tell these kids that their pants being down around their knees is about as cool as wearing bell-bottoms was in the 80s (Cliff Burton excepted). When is that fad going to fucking die? Also, the spun to the stupid angle baseball hats. Just stop it already. :geezer: I remember when powder blue was an embarassing color for men to wear. Anyway. Let's all cash in on our big fad. Nothing more. FUBU. And Seth Green. Title: Re: Um... okay. A Hip-Hop RPG by Master P and Seth Green. That's right, I said it. Title: Re: Um... okay. A Hip-Hop RPG by Master P and Seth Green. Post by: stray on September 05, 2007, 04:28:13 PM Not sure why this bothers you guys so much. What happened?

It's the whole double standard thing really. Master P teams up with a company called Stoopid Monkey (Stoop instead of Stup, which just adds to the fire) to make a... hip-hop RPG. Meanwhile, some dumb motherfuckers are complaining about black zombies in Resident Evil 5. Title: Re: Um... okay. A Hip-Hop RPG by Master P and Seth Green.
