Wait, what? I thought ArmA was OFP2.

When Bohemia Interactive got allegedly pissed off with Codemasters and broke their agreement to do a sequel, Codemasters got to keep the Operation Flashpoint name. ArmA was Bohemia's follow-up to OpF that couldn't use the OpF name.

From reviews, ArmA had moments of greatness mixed into a game that had some severe flaws. The question is really whether Codemasters do it better or not. Also, the other question is will those fuckers infect the game with Starforce as is their usual practice...

I see that this now has a March 2009 proposed release date, does anyone know anything more about this? The official site seems very sparse and entirely lacking in information.

I ask because OpF1 co-op multiplayer was some of the best co-op fun I'd ever had. We used to have some utterly hilarious times with this. A few of us used to regularly fire this up on a private server, spent like an hour planning a mission carefully then 9 times out of 10 fuck it all up within minutes of starting. Helicopter crashes with everyone inside were a specialty, as were botched HALO drops. Ah the good old chaotic, embarrassing, futile days  :awesome_for_real:

I've seen a video of a presentation on a convention somewhen summer 2008. They're promising a lot, i.e. OFP1 but a lot better and more detailed, just to also suddenly claim that battles will be bigger, more explosions, etc blah blah. Kind of contradictory. I think ArmA 2 is also slated for spring 2009.
