Title: Nintendo's Iwata tells Samus that he's a fatass. Post by: sigil on August 29, 2007, 04:46:35 AM An Easter Egg in Metroid Prime Corruption confiding in Samus and the player.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTSLDsRE2Os Translated: Quote “Hello, this is Iwata from Nintendo. You may not know from an outsiders point of view, but being a director is really hard! When things are really busy and stressful we (us directors) may look tired and sick, then people may feel sorry for us! But in my case, it’s the opposite, I get fatter and fatter, so then people don’t think I’m stressed at all!” I haven't picked up Corruption yet, A couple of unexpected major expenses will drain the game budget quickly. Probably pick it up next week, but I've heard nothing but glowing praise from friends and reviews alike. Title: Re: Nintendo's Iwata tells Samus that he's a fatass. Title: Re: Nintendo's Iwata tells Samus that he's a fatass. Post by: schild on August 29, 2007, 05:31:06 AM Yea, the wording is really fucking weird here. I read it like a thousand times and gave up.
Iwata tells Samus he's a fatass. Samus is told he's a fatass by Iwata. Iwata tells that fatass Samus how it is. Samus finds out he's fat, confirmed by Iwata. When hard hitting news hits the gaming world, Kotaku is there. and finally Iwata tells player he's fat. Breaks forth wall through Samus' visor. That's to say, it wasn't til I clicked the thread that I find out Samus is told by Iwata that Iwata has gotten fat. Well, here's a shocker for you - most game developers get fat when they're making games. So it took me a second to sink in. Also, thankfully, Samus is still a girl. Might have a penis though, still waiting for confirmation from Crecente. Title: Re: Nintendo's Iwata tells Samus that he's a fatass. Title: Re: Nintendo's Iwata tells Samus that he's a fatass. Post by: sigil on August 29, 2007, 06:23:40 AM Made perfect sense to me, since I knew Samus is a woman.
Alas, sentence structure fails me yet again. It's all the German classes I took in college. I capitalize nouns all the damn time as well. Title: Re: Nintendo's Iwata tells Samus that he's a fatass. Bam. I rock. Title: Re: Nintendo's Iwata tells Samus that he's a fatass. Post by: Margalis on August 29, 2007, 06:52:11 PM Fat people eat accumlates.
Points for the first person who can identify the linguistic term for the above. Title: Re: Nintendo's Iwata tells Samus that he's a fatass. Post by: Samwise on August 29, 2007, 08:54:26 PM Nouning!
(http://www.ourlocalstyle.com/images/uploadImages/2006/05/03/cnhVerbingWeirdsLanguage.gif) Or maybe anthimeria (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthimeria), which would include both nouning and verbing? Title: Re: Nintendo's Iwata tells Samus that he's a fatass. Post by: Margalis on August 29, 2007, 09:20:32 PM "Fat people eat accumlates" is a fine sentence, read as "The fat that people eat accumulates." No different from "books people buy accumulate". Here "fat" is a noun rather than an adjective, and accumulates is a verb rather than a noun, but it's a valid usage of both. The problem is you don't know that until you get to the end of the sentence.

"Garden path." A sentence that makes sense but leads you down the wrong path of understanding until you reach the end. Title: Re: Nintendo's Iwata tells Samus that he's a fatass. A sentence that makes sense but leads you down the wrong path of understanding until you reach the end. From Yegolev's comment about Samus being a woman, I've wanted to edit the title. That would ruin the whole thread, so I'll wallow in my grammatical shame. |
