Apparently by being level 70, inviting someone to an arena pug, logging off and having the person accept the invite while the inviter is offline crashes the entire server. People were chain crashing almost all the servers last night. Good stuff.

So that's what that was.  Assholes.

Any official response / announcement on it?

Argent Dawn was stable when I logged off at 11:00 CST -- no crashes to that point.

Tich has been constantly crashing at primetime for the last week it feels like.

Heh - I ran into some guys at PAX who were at BlizzCon - they managed to steal the Tichondrius server sign from the server meet (just as I stole the Illidan sign from the Illidan server meet) and get Gabe to sign it with 'is not for you', and a Gabe picture.

Someone is gonna have to explain the tichondrius thing for us non penny-arcade readers.

It's not a Penny Arcade thing...

Tichondrius is my original server, and it's a west coast server - there are a lot of people I used to work with at Blizzard that I know play on that server (two of my old Tichondrius guilds are in the Burning Crusade credits - Ascension and Robot Kitten Happy Train). The whole 'Tichondrius is not for you' started on the forums, and a lot of the more vocal forum guilds of Tichondrius (Insomnia, Notorious, RKHT) started mimicking it. It all started in someone asking if they should make a character on Tichondrius, as it was getting more popular, and that catchphrase started.

They have a photo gallery of various developers and community managers holding up 'Tichondrius is not for you' signs, so it's been like a community thing to get celebrities with some form of a 'Tichondrius is not for you' sign, dating all the way back to BlizzCon 2005 and before.

Sargeras did the same although we were more jerky about it. I'm fairly sure some of our slogans couldn't be held up on a sign in public.

Blackrock has "Blackrock is FULL" and Frostmourne has "Frostmourne is CLOSED" as well. Blackrock because they really were full back then (like 50% bigger than the next biggest server) and Frostmourne has been closed for transfers for like 6 months while we're still the recommended oceanic PVP server for God knows what reason. It hasn't gotten as big as "Tichondrius is not for you" but I blame being oceanic for that. :P

Tichondrius needs to die for starting the term "terribad" though. Pain stabs the back of my eyes every time I read it.

Argent Dawn has "You don't want to come here, we have people "roleplaying" *shudder* Nelf sex in the trams".

Crushridge never had a catchy slogan like that... well, we did name the server Crashridge (it was notorious for randomly crashing during primetime in late 2005-early 2006, even though we were only medium pop), and whenever someone posts something like "hay guys, how is this server, I might transfer here" on the forums, it is met with cries of "Run, run while you can and don't look back!".

Our only 'good' raid guild (they killed illidan last week) is almost 100% composed of transfers from other servers, and most of our 'native' guilds never make it past VR. Not that I mind though, I am not a raider, nor do I plan to become one. :p
