These crazy stories off the wires are money for news websites. If you promote a story like this, EVERYBODY clicks on it, people link it to their friends like in this thread, and soon it's accounting for half the traffic to your website. Payment for ads is based on the number of page views, so these oddities become like gold. Traditional news priorities go out the window under the commercial pressure to get page views. Dwarf dicks and penis fires become the news of the day. And so Internet news sites, seen as an alternative to newspapers that hype up their front pages to sell copies, actually end up becoming the trashiest tabloids of all. My friend used to talk about stuff like that he had done. He claimed that most of the times it was during drunken hookups with some girl he didn't care about anyway because of how easy she was to score with on the first date.
