Title: Video DvD authoring Software:
Post by: SurfD on August 18, 2007, 08:42:24 AM
A friend of mine is looking for some software to make his own DVDs, playable in a normal DVD player, for the episodes of TV shows he has been downloading.  Since i have only ever burned Data DVDs, i have no idea what kind of software to reccomend for setting up the chapter points and menu's and such of a normal Video DVD.

Does anyone have any reccomendations on software to look into?

That came up here a few years go, but I'm too lazy to use the search function.

Check out Adobe Encore, it looks like it's packaged with Adobe Premier now. There's also Pinnacle and Sonic. I use these all the time when my side company authors DVD's.  Depends on how many features you really want or need, but Encore is fantastic.

List at the bottom, in tiers, with links to sites (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_authoring).

If he's looking for something basic I would recommend DVD Movie Factory or DVD Architect Studio.

If you don't need fancy custom menus, DVD Flick  (http://www.dvdflick.net/)is just about the best thing out there.
