Title: Shirts Post by: schild on August 10, 2007, 12:06:42 AM (http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/2859/f13shirtcl4.jpg)
Ok. So, lots of people ask, particularly after the hastily thrown together wallpaper, where are shirts. Right. Well, here's the problem. Cafepress is dick and I don't want to have to deal with shirts, so if someone has a company who will make, ship, and Not Take All the Profits, here's the deal. I'm willing to design shirts (and another person on the board is willing to also). But where do we have them made? While I'll be posting shirts in this thread, I suppose the more important part is the how, not the what. Anyway. Help? Anyone have a printing press or own a t-shirt company? (i lolled). (I'm thinking of changing the grind background into a gear or treadmill shape) Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Nerf on August 10, 2007, 12:19:54 AM I'd say the best bet for the initial run is to let people pre-order them. This allows you* to get a correct volume quote, and order enough to fill demand without having to keep a stock.
*Or whatever shmuck you con into doing the legwork. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: stu on August 10, 2007, 12:34:16 AM IMO, you can't go wrong with Black & White, but yeah, a background change would help. You have a cluttered background behind a distorted logo. Something solid and easily recognizable like a gear or treadmill would add weight and legibility to the foreground. But that's just me. I like clean and simple design because there is no goofing around involved. I'm not really sure if you were looking for a critique or not :-D http://www.apollonova.com/warrenellis/index.html (http://www.apollonova.com/warrenellis/index.html) Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Nerf on August 10, 2007, 12:39:56 AM IMO, you can't go wrong with Black & White, but yeah, a background change would help. The grinds in the background are fairly muted and don't overpower f13. Also, I don't mean to be an ass, but that link you posted wasn't meant to be a brag book was it? If so, I'm terribly sorry, I really am. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: schild on August 10, 2007, 12:46:14 AM No, that's a link to the warren ellis logo with a gear behind it. I didn't mean gear so much as to put the grinds in a circle :P
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Paelos on August 10, 2007, 12:49:22 AM As much as I love the site, I don't know about T-Shirt grinding as the means to get more epic loots. Why not let Signe design one?
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Xerapis on August 10, 2007, 12:59:43 AM It will have lots of very cute penises.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: schild on August 10, 2007, 01:04:00 AM I don't get the grinding for loots joke. I can change the word in the background to "internet" or "cockstab" or "zombie" as necessary.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Ragnoros on August 10, 2007, 02:13:18 AM I'd buy one. Maybe two.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Velorath on August 10, 2007, 02:58:16 AM Get back to me when we have f13.net shot glasses. And maybe Haemish can whip up some Thundercunt coffee mugs.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: cmlancas on August 10, 2007, 06:29:16 AM Schlid, I could have it done in Tampa for about $9 apiece if you could get it down to straight black and white. Currently I'm working on a Chuck Norris's tears cure cancer shirt :)
I've used customink.com before and your design is somewhere around $14 USD per shirt. Edit: I also don't mind running around looking at the T-Shirt design places around here. I live about five minutes from the USF campus and there are at least five places that make shirts. I wouldn't mind getting quotes/doing your bitchwork for you as long as I can get a shirt for free! :D Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Sky on August 10, 2007, 06:51:43 AM I think it'd look better with just the logo.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Signe on August 10, 2007, 06:57:40 AM I'll buy three of the ones with cute penises.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: NiX on August 10, 2007, 07:09:07 AM I demand a Crotch Pheasant shirt. I would definitely buy the F13 one if it didn't have the grind in the background. The logo itself is love.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: cmlancas on August 10, 2007, 07:10:19 AM Get me a B/W of the f13 cutout; I can have a sample to you by Thursday of next week. *poke*
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: HaemishM on August 10, 2007, 08:46:36 AM Get back to me when we have f13.net shot glasses. And maybe Haemish can whip up some Thundercunt coffee mugs. I have my own line of Game Angst shit, but since I not allowed to link to it from this site, I'll just be pissy and say that's a good idea I should have already thought of. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Viin on August 10, 2007, 09:44:04 AM Since this *is* a gaming site, how about a mouse pad or similar?
I have enough black shirts with random logo on the front .. (not that I don't like the logo, I think it looks cool!). Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Paelos on August 10, 2007, 09:44:41 AM I don't get the grinding for loots joke. I can change the word in the background to "internet" or "cockstab" or "zombie" as necessary. I don't even get the joke, that's how deep it goes. How about a carrot on a stick with the F13 logo under it? EDIT: Better yet, fuck shirts. Let's put the F13 logo on Berets. Do you realize how awesome that would be? Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Nerf on August 10, 2007, 10:06:50 AM Don't start fucking with a gamers mouse surface. Mine was created with a secret formulation of plastic, win, and the foreskins of freshly circumcized arab children (you don't think they let the mohels in training practice on jews, do you?).
Berets are just too french, why not just print the logo on some white flags? You've got a built in market if you're targetting the french. My vote goes for hats/visors. (http://www.pricebustergolf.co.uk/ishop/images/1035/MI_visor.jpg) I'll take one in black. I am good for at least 1 shirt of every design, provided that they come in the proper size. Just knock the poles out of tent, slap the graphics on it, and ship it to me. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Sky on August 10, 2007, 11:22:39 AM People still use mousepads?
Also, we used to silkscreen our own shirts for the band. But no, not gunna doit. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: WayAbvPar on August 10, 2007, 11:24:50 AM The scraping sound of a mouse across a desk is annoying. Plus I like the angle of my hand on the mouse better. Plus it is from LUM! It is old school and cool and shit.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Moaner on August 10, 2007, 11:40:17 AM No mouse pads- my LtM one is still working fine :-D I'm still using my LtM mouse pad too! It's rather ragged at this point though and I'd love to retire it with the help of an f13 replacement. I'd buy a shirt too. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: schild on August 10, 2007, 12:00:03 PM If I had f13 pads, I'd want them made by Razer or IceMat.

Title: Re: Shirts Post by: schild on August 10, 2007, 12:05:45 PM How about a big vinyl sticker for the hood of my ricer too? I was thinking of making laser engraved carbon fiber hoods. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Morfiend on August 10, 2007, 12:12:25 PM Ill take a shit if they get made. As long as they arnt in that crappy super thin t-shirt material.
Also, what about changing "Grind" to "Hate". Title: Re: Shirts Post by: schild on August 10, 2007, 12:14:00 PM Also, what about changing "Grind" to "Hate". It's not 1997. Teenagers don't even wear shirts with the word "hate" on them. Edit: Sorry if that sounded like a slight, I just felt no reason not to be blunt. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Signe on August 10, 2007, 12:14:56 PM Also, grind goes better with cute penises.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Furiously on August 10, 2007, 12:56:38 PM Not with mine.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Bunk on August 10, 2007, 01:07:11 PM I'll just pop in and say that I too would enjoy wearing a shirt to work that confused everyone around me. Just no ground up penisi please.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Lantyssa on August 10, 2007, 01:25:34 PM You could have a tiny hamster wheel for the 'dot'.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Morfiend on August 10, 2007, 01:55:38 PM Also, what about changing "Grind" to "Hate". Teenagers don't even wear shirts with the word "hate" on them. Isnt that be a positive? Or is the point to sell f13 shits to emo teenagers? Title: Re: Shirts Post by: schild on August 10, 2007, 01:57:31 PM I see what you tried to do there.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: SnakeCharmer on August 10, 2007, 02:09:09 PM I'd buy one, just so people would ask what f13 means.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Yoru on August 10, 2007, 02:14:17 PM I'd buy one of the ones in the OP. And an F13 Icemat pad for home, since I have my bitchin' real-leather Witcher mousepad at work.
How about some white or grey or anything-but-black shirts after this one, though? I have enough black in my closet as is. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: schild on August 10, 2007, 02:21:56 PM I only picked black because of the grey and white stuff in this particular picture.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Viin on August 10, 2007, 02:58:22 PM Actually, I think it'd look really wicked on a hat ..
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: schild on August 10, 2007, 03:01:29 PM Yea, a hat would be neat, I'd have to find an AWESOME embroidererererer.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Hoax on August 10, 2007, 03:25:32 PM Fuck it, I'll buy two, because I really really want them to get made. Tell me where to send the money and I'm so there.
My friends would probably be glad I was wearing something random and confusing as opposed to bright orange Bengals gear on the weekends. Plus once I put the shirt on I can go to Sega and Linden Labs and the other companies still in SF and harass people and they will email Schild about it to bitch, which would be awesome. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Ookii on August 10, 2007, 03:42:27 PM I'd buy one of the ones in the OP. And an F13 Icemat pad for home, since I have my bitchin' real-leather Witcher mousepad at work. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Merusk on August 10, 2007, 05:38:39 PM I'd go for a hat fo' sure. I'm full up on T-shirts, seeing as I only wear them 2 days a week. Hell, I'm still wearing some from my first year of college and they aren't tattered/ faded.
Also, grind goes better with cute penises. Tinkerbelle's been spanked, hasn't she? Awesome naughty avatar. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Samwise on August 10, 2007, 11:38:06 PM I have too many black shirts. Everyone makes black shirts these days. Make a shirt in anything other than black and I will buy it.
(edit) This place (http://www.clothingwarehouse.com/custom-imprinting.html) makes decent enough shirts. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Ookii on August 11, 2007, 01:11:23 AM But black is slimming, and you look edgy.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Signe on August 11, 2007, 06:28:51 AM I agree with black. You can never be too slim or too edgy.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Merusk on August 11, 2007, 07:48:55 AM I have too many black shirts. Everyone makes black shirts these days. Make a shirt in anything other than black and I will buy it. (edit) This place (http://www.clothingwarehouse.com/custom-imprinting.html) makes decent enough shirts. No idea if the embroidery price is standard or cheap for the industry, but a 6" X 1.5" logo winds-up around $166 using their numbers. That's a lot of items to make-back that cost. Pity. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Samwise on August 11, 2007, 10:55:51 AM I was thinking more along the lines of printing. The wallpaper design is one-color, which means a one-time setup charge of $15 for a minimum of a dozen shirts. That's pretty dang reasonable. And they use third-party shirt brands, so you get some measure of control over the quality of the shirt itself (unlike, say, Cafe Press, which used to use some really horrible paper-thin shirts for all their stuff).
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Signe on August 11, 2007, 10:59:18 AM I got one of Haemish's "SB.EXE" t-shirts for Righ from Cafe Press, the organic one, and it was really nice.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Samwise on August 11, 2007, 11:03:53 AM I did say used to. The last time I got one the quality had improved dramatically. I still don't entirely trust them. :angryfist:

I don't know if we can get 200 people to preorder such a thing, but if we did - aweeeeeeeeeeesome. Don't ask any questions about it, I'll post pricing as soon as I find out what costs will be. Since they run $25-$40 at retail, I'd have to assume around $50. Trust me when I say it's an amazing mouse pad though.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Yegolev on September 11, 2007, 12:33:54 PM mouse pad < shirt
Unless people are wearing their mouse pads in public. I have not gone to the mall lately, but I thought we were still in the baggy-pants era. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Nebu on September 12, 2007, 02:16:53 PM Two mouse pads for the womens.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Krakrok on September 12, 2007, 06:17:20 PM If CafePress is dick did you try Zazzle? Looks like Zazzle only gives you 17% though. I thought you can make as much as you want with CafePress. There is a baseline price for the items and you tack whatever price you want on top of it. The CafePress printing isn't as shitty as it use to be. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Hoax on September 13, 2007, 11:16:51 AM Its the materials not the printing that sucks for cafepress, I think you can make them use non sucky cheapo cotton but it costs a bunch more.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Soln on September 28, 2007, 01:09:00 PM Can something be done with this? Maybe somewhere's discrete?

Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Hoax on October 01, 2007, 07:25:53 AM Shirts.
Fuck yah. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Soukyan on October 01, 2007, 11:58:49 AM You could have a tiny hamster wheel for the 'dot'. Genius. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Ragnoros on October 20, 2007, 03:24:17 PM Any News?
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: schild on October 20, 2007, 03:56:34 PM News will come when there is news. Shirts are, at the moment, not at the top of the List of Things That Need Doing at the moment.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Signe on October 20, 2007, 06:41:43 PM You said "at the moment" twice in the same sentence! (http://www.invision.smileyville.net/smilies/girl%20(14).gif)
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: stu on November 09, 2007, 05:58:55 PM Have you thought about using :awesome_for_real: on an f13 shirt? That emote seems to be the mascot of this den.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Nerf on November 09, 2007, 10:58:25 PM I'd buy that, but it needs to say "Totally awesome. For real." somewhere
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: voodoolily on November 29, 2007, 05:42:29 PM Some of my faves from this place that sells t-shirts.

How hard is it to put :awesome_for_real: on a shirt with f13.net somewhere, someone needs to get on this and rape my wallet. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Hoax on November 30, 2007, 09:48:25 AM Yeah I want a mousepad too, been putting off getting a legit mousepad for awhile because you said you were going to make one...

Title: Re: Shirts Post by: schild on January 15, 2008, 11:17:47 PM Will have news on this uhmmmm, this week.
Because I've already put money into it. Key Things to Know: Each Design Will Be Limited. Designs will last a month a piece. I would like to have a new design each month, I might make a thread for submissions. There will be things besides t-shirts. Girly bits of clothing will probably be limited to like 2 or 3. Because uhhh, I think we have 7 girls here. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Phildo on January 16, 2008, 07:44:31 AM Girly bits of clothing will probably be limited to like 2 or 3. Because uhhh, I think we have 7 girls here. What if I want something for my wife? Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Hoax on January 16, 2008, 09:16:16 AM I'm pro-shirts period but does it really make sense to do monthly limited runs? I mean how many f13 shirts can a single person own before it gets kinda... odd. Besides you that is Schild, since its your site. I've always imagined there would be "the f13 shirt" not that I mind, I could see myself owning 2-3 if the f13 part is a bit low-key on most of them.
Also lol @ girlie bits, what's the prize for first person who posts pics of a girl wearing said girlie bits? This is the internet afterall, that really has to be a competition doesn't it? P.S. Does this mean I should buy my own icemat that doesn't say anything cool on it? I'm guessing yes. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Ookii on January 16, 2008, 09:50:26 AM If there were 366 f13 shirts schild would wear one everyday and dream of wearing that last one on the next leap year.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Yegolev on January 16, 2008, 10:02:26 AM Girly bits of clothing will probably be limited to like 2 or 3. Because uhhh, I think we have 7 girls here. What if I want something for my wife? Buying a F13 item for your wife sounds dangerous. I'll stick with gift cards. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Phildo on January 16, 2008, 10:16:24 AM ...I don't really have a wife. Schild or Ookii were supposed to chime in with something about how pathetically single I am, and I was going to saw something like "Well, I might someday..."
Poor planning on my part =( Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Yegolev on January 16, 2008, 10:20:21 AM Can I say that I mean the Royal You?
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Phildo on January 16, 2008, 10:23:27 AM Can I say that I mean the Royal You? I'm going to allow it. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Nebu on January 16, 2008, 12:15:15 PM Owning a shirt would be like admitting that I know you people. I need to think about this.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Ookii on January 16, 2008, 12:16:17 PM Schild or Ookii were supposed to chime in with something about how pathetically single I am, and I was going to saw something like "Well, I might someday..." I was going to but I didn't want to embarass you in this public forum of your peers. Suck it fatty. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Soukyan on January 16, 2008, 12:49:43 PM How limited are the designs going to be? I don't want to have to camp the boards like EQ just to get a shirt. :uhrr:
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: schild on January 16, 2008, 03:31:50 PM I'm pro-shirts period but does it really make sense to do monthly limited runs? I mean how many f13 shirts can a single person own before it gets kinda... odd. Was going to do new designs either once a month, or once every 2 weeks. Haven't decided. And a lot, none of them will say .net prominently some might not even say f13. There will be smiley shirts also. Those will be seperate and not limited I think. I don't know about the pricing. Mostly because it depends on the design. T-shirts, depending on whether they're heavy-knit or light knit will be between $16 and $20. Polos will be $25-30. Things like that, etc. There will be a shitty cheap mousepad with :awesome_for_real: on it. I might do one for each smiley though. Or a series. Haven't decided. Icemat runs are too expensive. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Strazos on January 16, 2008, 03:43:29 PM Owning a shirt would be like admitting that I know you people. I need to think about this. Heh. If the polo isn't loud, I'm totally buying one to wear when I work Gamestop. Apropos Advertising, yo. :oh_i_see: Title: Re: Shirts Post by: schild on January 16, 2008, 03:45:48 PM Technically speaking, there will be loud and not loud variants of most of the shirts.
Also, plans for a couple hoodies. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: lamaros on January 16, 2008, 03:46:52 PM If they are awesome I will buy heaps no matter that I am dirt poor. I love t-shirts!
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: Strazos on January 16, 2008, 04:11:40 PM I believe you also need money hats....or some other thing involving money hats.
OR...the Necropost guy. Title: Re: Shirts Post by: schild on January 16, 2008, 08:00:49 PM Alright.
Prototype of a shirt and another item have been ordered by myself and a few others. Will post pictures and launch when they arrive. Every item is limited from 25-50 of them. I'll be forward with you - there is a $2-$4 commission on every item. This shit took time to put together. Anyway, yea. News with arrival. Here's a preview: (http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/1986/awesomeforrealrx1.png) Title: Re: Shirts Post by: schild on January 22, 2008, 07:24:06 AM Store Announcement this afternoon. Probably around 9-10PM EST.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: NiX on January 22, 2008, 08:02:17 AM You're a cock tease. I swear to god it better be a :awesome_for_real: shirt. I've been pimping that smiley all up in everyones face for the past month or so. I even went so far to make a 50x50 gif for MSN so it was more "IN YO FACE!"
Also, does this run include femme shirts? Title: Re: Shirts Post by: schild on January 22, 2008, 08:15:15 AM No femme shirts.
Title: Re: Shirts Post by: NiX on January 22, 2008, 08:18:33 AM You're still a cock tease.
