Disney acquires Club Penguin for $350M
Disney announced today that they have bought Club Penguin for $350M.

Sony was one of the companies looking at acquiring Club Penguin earlier this year but according to Michael Arrington over at Tech Crunch apparently one of things that the other would-be acquirers balked at was the amount of money Club Penguin donates to charities and wanted to continue doing post-acquisition.

There is a very very important lesson here for all us MMOologists. I wonder what it is.

The lesson is that you should make a Web 2.0 MMO game social networking interaction world thing and sell it to a giant conglomerate for a full three-piece suit made of money.
